For those that don't know, the Hellenic Navy is the navy of Greece (Greece's official name is the Hellenic Republic).
Yea. I read it was the name given to the army after Alexander the Greats father, Philip, United the Macedonians and all the Hellenic tribes.
The "greek" name of Greece has always been, from ancient times to now, Hellas... Graecia is only the latin name for it that remained valid internationally.
have you ever been in a Beach and a Hovercraft comes out of nowhere and sent its tank and troops to the ground ? Of course you have.
@@Racistt_Hotdog I've seen a lot of military in the USSR when I was a kid. Troops must march!

That one sharp stick on the sand: I’m about to end this mans whole career
Jokes on you: it WAS what I thought it would be.
I thought it was a hovercraft but it's an air cushioned vehicle. Silly me.
Two craft in service: 1 for tests, the other for spare parts.
That's the story with a lot of Russian military hardware. You make something so expensive shoving all these systems in it and in the end it's too expensive to field properly. Who cares if you have the best in the world if you only have two of them and the things that can take it out are a quarter of the price.
@@richardmoore609 isnt that a problem with usa and other nations that are trying to make the most modern and cutting edge stuff too? no real war is going on to properly test what works and what doesnt and to also know what is needed in the hardware and where you can shave off from costs
@@kirtil5177 let’s put it this way. Russia builds a single stealth fighter and it takes up about 30% of their military budget, the US builds 400 stealth fighters and still has 80% of their budget left
@@richardmoore609 The porpuse of this hovercraft is to transport troops and vehicles to shore as fast possible. Before this are send, the army do reconisanse and send smaller boats with troops. The days of sending troops blindly to a beach like in D-Day are long gone with modern technology.

Zubr🇬🇷🇬🇷
Russian ship designer:
So what would you like this ship to be?
Soviet union official: *yes*
Would the skirts be a weak point or are they pretty tough? Seems like a cannon could punch a few holes in the thing and it would be screwed
Nope it's just a air shield. It's not touching the ground so a missile could go right through and out the other side damage to the air net wouldn't stop it
@@scottstone1475 If the missile were programmed to explode under the hull once past the skirt, however...
Air is already going out of the bottom so a hole wouldn't make a huge difference
It's less of a balloon and more of a party straw. It's already releasing tons of air out the bottom to keep it floating, so a small hole, such as from a bullet, would have almost no effect. The larger the hole, or the more holes there are, the less air gets forced against the ground, so eventually it would impact performance, but you'd need a large tear, or a lot of holes.
The skirts aren't tough, they are pretty much just rubber sheets. Again, though, minor damage such as from bullets or cannons doesn't really impact performance, and explosives such as missiles or HE rounds would probably just pass through or bounce, since their fuse requires a hard impact to trigger.
It looks like something straight out of a Red Alert war factory.
Spent so many hours playing red alert games. I liked playing the Soviets because of the tesla coils...
ZAP!! ZAP!! ZAP!!
The Cold War really pumping out vehicles that look like they come from a video game

Anchor sounds about right; what happens when you deflate a tube 😆

What we have 4 of them and i didnt know??????
I do wonder how these amphibious landing craft stack up with each other. I don't know what level the Zubr class is on the relative to, for example, LCAC and LCM. I think it'd be cool to include some comparisons sometimes in your video to give the viewer an idea of what role exactly each vessel occupies.
Thanks for the feedback, John. We do include comparisons at times, especially in our longer videos.
The Zubr is better armed, but carries far less, making it pretty useless in modern amphibious warfare, which is why after decades of development, Russia still has only two. They’re just for show.
@@afcgeo882 how does it carry less when it can carry 8 btrs... when lcac carries only 4... and has a world record
@@mitri5389 Simple: It carries zero from an actual ship to shore. It cannot enter a well dock. That’s why only China and Greece bought any. They’re only good to go between islands.

The transition from the beach goers to Military crafts was perfect.
America: look at our LCAC
Russia: hold my bear

Number of lcacs in US service: 74
Number of these in RU service:~2
The lcac is far more useful.
LCAC advantage is that the Navy fits inside aircraft carriers. I am not sure if this are brought the same way.
its a battleship on a water balloon
I used to love getting the drive on drive off hovercraft from Dover to Calais in the 1980s/90s. Does the trip in half the time. Just one drawback - they are NOISY AS HECK!!! Still loved them though.

I love this hovercraft for some odd reason lol. I would definitely have this for my military (if I owned one).
Well im fast
that thing just casually has three wind turbines strapped to it lmao
A boat that can be sunk by moderate light arms fire. Brilliant.
Not a boat and was invented in modern times soooo yeah small arms fire probably isn't an issue especially considering it's own capabilities of suppressing opposing forces especially soft targets like infantry. And an operation where this thing would knowingly be going up against resistance would most definitely be supported by heavy air cover suppressing any threats to it.
Nice legs
Bruh imagine wake boarding on the bad boy lmao
We don’t need that in US Military when we got more then 11(+2 in construction) Aircraft carriers and 8 Wasp class Amphibious Assault ships
A CIWS seems like a desirable upgrade.
It's not supposed to be dishing out the hurt, but having defences against incoming missiles would be very useful.
Honestly this is one of the coolest military vehicles in service.
I know the US army have one of these hovercraft they used it on CODMW.

Hovercraft this big carried cars , hgv’s and hundreds of passengers across the English Channel to France , in the 70’s for thirty years , they were finished when the channel Tunnel was completed.
“Ive been lied to, betrayed, and quite possibly bamboozled”
Just a reminder that a fully amphibious building larger than most small commercial buildings moves at speeds of 75mph, and even then they only limited it until they could figure out the rubber flap situation. If they could they'd armor the cushions and these things would be moving on cities like giant mobile monster fortresses...
