I have a software engineering job with a great company, and Im thinking about doing my MS in cs from Georgia Tech. Im starting next year and this video helped! Thanks! :)
Don’t forget “accreditation” that’s key to a real degree. You go to accredited online school it’s equivalent to in class as there’s a body to oversee. These unaccredited ones are truly useless degrees. Watch out for those promises of competency based degrees and such that are diploma mills.
Another thing I’ve saw is promise of accreditation and it’s also a bs accreditation. If it’s like Eli accrediting service that’s not HLC higher learning commission accreditation. Lol. Do the homework on the school and it’s accreditation not just promises of the world.
I’d also like to address the hands on. Really in class or in an online program and simulation it’s the same. Gone are the days of going into class and actually having a computer setup to work on it’s all simulator in class or online anyway so it’s same. You know yourself only real way to learn it is do it hands on. School is just one step on the ladder not an escalator to the top. Schools lead people to believe a degree is an automatic escalator to the sky and sky’s the limit. Of course they want to sell that dream when it’s big money. Arguably today education is the biggest investment not a car or home anymore but education.
There is no accredited master's in computer science degrees. So your really stuck with looking for Bachelor accreditation or general reputation of the college at that university.
I'd recommend it. I did an online bachelors degree from a top tier University for the cost of 6k. I did it whilst working and got a nice payrise when I graduated with a first. Interestingly I got a better payrise and ROI doing my Cisco CCNA /CCNP.
@@Syntaxstic University of Leicester. I suspect it's a lot More now. I graduated four years ago when distance learning was just being rolled out. But I'd say to anyone get working on a service desk and do CCNA and CCNP first. It's far cheaper and offers real experience.
Ahhh i totally agree about needing the context and a goal i think that would drive you to learn better if you had some experience and need to solve problems. I'm starting my online masters in September. I don't like studying with people around me i prefer digital networking and always have so I'm super excited!
It everything depends on your situation. I would love to enroll in one of those courses, I'm not from de US, I don't live in the US, my english is not that good. But I think a course like these would make a difference in my career. A good course by a University in Coursera costs ap to 15.000 USD sooo...... no chance.
I have a degree in mathematics and work as a SAS programmer. The work I do is a lot of casual analysis for clinical research. Would I be out of my depth in an MS program for comp sci? I've come to learn that I have more of an engineer's brain than a mathematician's brain. I would rather pursue CS than a career as a statistician, but I worry that I may not be prepared for a CS program since my undergrad wasn't in it
So I'm going into my senior year of a B.S. biology degree and I thought I wanted to go to medical school, but I've come to the realization that that's not what I want. As a result of this, I've been thinking about getting a minor in computer science and then getting a master's in C.S. Based on your experience do you think that's a good idea?
First of all this man spits facts like no one else! Secondly the best thing about college/university is to find like minded people and networking! If you think they are going to teach you stuff that you would never have learned yourself for almost free then you will be shocked!!!
Hi, I am from commerce back ground and i want to do computer science from scratch that is graduation. I am 27 years can you advise me from where i can do.
he did, he got two websites, failednormal.com (membership site, first 50 videos are behind a paywall) and elithecomputerguy.com, this is a free site with an option to support him. RN tho, he is simply doing those videos and posting them on youtube for advertisement and to simply keep himself busy instead of dying in boredom.

Eli is better than most professors. . I got a Masters just by watching his videos.

It's ironic watching this during covid when everything turned online in the blink of an eye lol

Hello
How is the program
Graduated?
Great video, thanks! I start my masters in CIT online in a week.
Alex gonzalez may I ask you if you like it now that a couple months passed? I assumed you have completed a few courses already..
Love these Q&A videos Eli!
Eli is better than most University Professors. ..I got the knowledge of a Masters degree holder by just watching his videos.
I don't need real life tips I got eli the computer guy
"Every class your going to be in is going to have 20 people." HAHAHA! Try 176 at my school.
awesome video man.. m considering getting an online masters degree ...
one more thing ..you look like Jason Statham's long lost brother..

i am in the same position 10 months late. How has the program gone so far?

The subsurface scattering on your epidermis is scintillating.
what about someone who has an online MSc and wants to study a PhD full-time,
is it acceptable?
Yes it is, you don’t even need a MS to get into a PhD program even in top schools
Good video, I'm covering OMSCS on my channel; I would like to hear more about other University online master degrees.
What can some1 do with an masters degree that a programmer with no degree do?
Why did u change ur channel name? I preferred d earlier name
You look like Mike prince from "Billions"
In your opinion what should be the make up of a cs degree,
% coding
% math
% theory
% history
Ect
This is 90% coding, 10% math, 0% theory and 100% dedicated power of will
37% theory 30% math 30% coding 3% history. If your cs degree is mostly about coding then they're doing it wrong.
@@jordan2172 if you write 1million lines of code you're a lier or using java
A cs degree is 100% Adderall
A O that equals 200%. Maybe you should’ve had a higher % math. 😋
Hi,
I am from commerce back ground and i want to do computer science from scratch that is graduation. I am 27 years can you advise me from where i can do.
How to solve ignore of this choose language when we install
With the current admission scandal..hell ya those online degrees look pretty good now.
sure. 50 fake admits refute the 100,000 enrolled students among 10 elite schools. whatever you say.
How do you know which school is good? Is UT Austin or Georgia tech good for online MCS ?
Both are fantastic
@@donrickles845which is more preferrable?
I've got no discipline but I got not much money as well. Lol!
Makes perfect sense lol
So he didn't leave UA-cam? I'm confused.
it's once a month, not sure of his cycle
