4:30 "What if they gave a character spin off show?" Nick executive #1: "Write that down write that down!" Nick executive #2: "Yuhhh" (playing tic tac toe on his notepad)
I feel like if spongebob ended at the first movie, you just know that around this time, a reboot would either be in the works, or be airing episodes already.
They could've cancelled it after the first movie ... and they didn't. They could've cancelled it after the tenth anniversary ... and they didn't. They could've cancelled it after the second movie ... and they didn't. They could've cancelled it after the tenth season ... and they didn't. Oh, sorry, I should've mentioned I'm from the future. And no, it's still going. They just recently aired the premiere of The Gary the Snail Show.
The Spongebob spinoff that'd happen is Planet Patrick. Planet Sheen's plot and plot elements would be completely ripped off as Sandy accidentally launches Patrick into space.
***** Please, we're talking about the same network that kept many dying franchises on life support. A channel owned by Viacom, who resurrected Ren and Stimpy for Spike TV into an unholy abomination. There is nothing sacred nor off limits
A company, let alone, a publicly traded company has multiple heads. Yeah she can voice her opinion all she wants, but just because she's the head won't mean much with people voting against her proposals, or voted out of the position if the share holders are not happy. The changes she might have in mind would probably be trimming the money sinks like Spike TV, sell off Neopets, and a few other things. But if she were thinking of burning down Nick and remaking a new and glorious Nickolodian from it's ashes, one that became about the shows and not about the marketing , that would be pretty damn amazing.
+Rave Raptor Nickelodeon is slowly getting better. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles still doesn't suck, The Loud House isn't bad and also a Hey Arnold! movie is coming out.
The only characters from spongebob I'd like to see get a spin off show is mermaid man and barnacle boy. Their show could be like that one bad guy book club episode.
As long as ratings are good, SpongeBob will NEVER END! I feel like our opinions or reviews mean nothing to Nickelodeon and that's why Viacom likes to take down videos that talk bad things about their shows so no one ever sees the videos.
the show was Supposed to end in 2004, but stupid Nickelodeon exploited the news out of this show. even when it finally ends, I doubt any other Nick show will reach that kind of success.
+flowerbunny91 I really the new show The Loud House but I'm paranoid that Nickelodeon will cancel when it's getting really good. Viewer ratings, however, have been decently great, so it could last for a couple of years hopefully.
Not to mention they clog their schedule with SpongeBob reruns to ensure it gets ratings. It's the same thing Cartoon Network does with Teen Titans Go!; basically so they can wave their high ratings in front of everyone.
+Roystein98 I know. And so to get the message to Nick I boycotted them for 3 years. If you want SpongeBob to end the best way is to not give their new shows any ratings.I know it's drastic but to a company the only way you can get the message across is to not give them any money. And in terms of TV that means just don't give them any ratings then it'll hurt them financially.
I feel like at some point your cash cow should be able to end with dignity while at the same time being able to bring new cartoons to the forefront and have them be successful, whether with good advertising or a great story.
I keep seeing so many people talking about how SpongeBob slightly improved because Stephen Hillenburg came back, but I think the positive change is more of a result of Casey Alexander and Zeus Cervas leaving the show. They both were writers on the show from Season 4 until the beginning of Season 9, and in my opinion, they've wrote most of the notoriously bad episodes from the past 10 years.
+MonstersReview, I hope more people notice this comment. I don't want to hate on particular writers, but there is definitely a pattern with these guys.
You know, I never really thought it was fair to judge the quality of a show based on the writers on it. While Casey and Zeus did write a ton of bad episode, they still wrote on some good episodes. Some examples being Earworm, Squidward in clarinetland, Frozen face off, the way of the sponge, and chum fricassee. I always judge episodes based on there quality, and not by who wrote them. Keep in mind the same person who wrote Band Geeks wrote on Choir Boys.
I want Spongebob to end much like how I want The Simpsons to end. They've gone on too long! You can only stretch a show's premise only so far and Spongebob has long since passed it's prime. They are effectively dead shows and their corpses are being animated by the network but they have no thought left of their own. Someone please put them out of their misery. Take for example Patrick. In the earlier seasons he was dumb yes but it was the harmless kind of dumb. Later seasons Patrick has only gotten dumber to the point we have to actively wonder if he actually hates his friend because he inflicts so much pain.
but the difference is spongebob has a chance of ending on a good note because the creator returned. Yes it went on too long but it's in a way better place than simpsons.
Reason number three, so I don't have to make even more of those goddamn every episode from each season. They take so long and I am sorry you have to make at least eleven
+Andrew Bradu LOL I was thinking of making that joke, but I didn't want anyone to think that I was going to stop, or that I didn't find them rewarding in the end, because I totally do.
While most people prefer the show to end after the movie, I personally wouldn't mind if the show ended at Season 5 (the season that had the Two faces of Squidward which is one of the best Squidward episodes ever made since Band Geeks) because a lot of the good episodes feel like they belong to pre-movie and they outnumber the bad episodes. But even if it's still going to run like forever, at least it has more dignity than the Fairly OddParents today. FOP has no more dignity now that they broke pretty much every important rule in Da Rules without any reasoning or logic.
+BRRGames I've said it before, I wouldn't mind if the show ended at 5. I just say after 3 here, because that would have been the perfect ending place for the show where it would have had almost all good episodes.
+BRRGames I agree. Objectively speaking, I think FOP has remained closer to its roots than SpongeBob in that later episdoes of FOP are more similar to its earlier episodes than SpongeBob. But at least SpongeBob doesn't try to capitalize on current trends. At least it has that shred of diginity. In addition to that, I honestly think the drop in quality from season 5 to season 6 was even bigger than the drop in quality from season 3 to season 4. If I had to choose any point to cancel the show, I would have chosen season 5 instead of season 3. Yes, there were bad episodes in seasons 4 and 5 that tarnished the show's legacy, but I think it was worth it to get some of the fantastic episodes (Fear of a Krabby Patty, Shell of a Man, the Lost Mattress, Krusty Towers, Dunces and Dragons, Two Faces of Squidward, Krabs a la mode, etc). There were a few good episodes of season 6, but I don't think it was worth it to continue the show just for those episodes from a legacy standpoint.
Spongebob will become "The Simpsons" of children's animation. It will never end no matter how stale it becomes. Also, if a voice actor dies, they will get a replacement, Nick won't care if the replacement sounds bad, as long as it makes money.
True. I can just imagine seeing all these rich old frail men in Nickelodeon in 2070 when the show reaches Season 85 and they're renewing it for 17 more seasons and a 10th movie.
Welp, Ernest Borgnine, the original voice actor of Mermaidman, died during production of season 9. He was now voiced by someone else, and I thought the voice was the same.
I do agree that they need to cancelled this show because most cartoon in Nick didn't have a chance to shine. There were good old shows or new shows that were good: Avatar, Danny Phantom, TUFF Puppy, Rugrats, , but it will overshadow by Spongebob. Don't get me started on Kids Choice Awards, where Spongebob keep winning or rigged votings. Let someone else win
well I disagree with the Rugrats part because Rugrats was around for almost a decade when spongebob debuted in 1999. I have no proof of Danny phantom being cancelled for the same reason either. But at the end of the day, Nick should get the blame...NOT the show. It's so easy for ppl to blame shows. And agree I'm tired of rigged awards.
The reason Danny Phantom got cancelled was because Butch Hartman hired voice actors without Nickelodeon's permission. Nick was not too happy about it, and were like "well we are gonna cancel it." I have the complete series on DVD, and I was hoping that they would have lasted longer than they did. Valerie was going to figure out ways to hunt down Vlad after she discovers who he really is, and she may or may not have had Danny and gang to help her. That would have been great. But no, Butch had to scramble everything together to make Phantom Planet.
I'd honestly prefer it if Spongebob got a proper finale rather than it getting canceled. Some series just get cancelled way too fast without providing a proper end to a story they may be telling. Here's how I'd want the series to end... Plankton launches his ultimate effort to get the Krabby Patty formula by launching a massive robot attack on the Krusty Krab. Despite Plankton's army failing in the end, both the Chum Bucket and Krusty Krab are destroyed, but the town comes together to make an effort to build a new restaurant for Mr. Krabs. Meanwhile, after the destruction of the Krusty Krab, Spongebob gets offered a new job in another town's restaurant. He takes the position, but has to move because of that. After the rebuilding of the Krusty Krab, Spongebob visits the restaurant one last time with his friends to reminisce on old times before he moves away, and when the day of the move comes, he says goodbye to all of his friends before hopping in a cab with Gary to go to his new job. As the cab drives away, Spongebob waves at all his friends, who wave back. The series ends with the cab driving off into the distance as the shot pans up into the sky, with the words "THE END" eventually appearing before a warm fade to black.
*I'm going to be blunt:* Season 9 isn't THAT much better and the show needs to be cancelled. Really, Nickelodeon needs something new and fresh. Spongebob, no matter how much _better_ it's getting, needs to leave room for other shows to shine.
+What am i doing with my life That is why I only watch Discovery Family and sometimes Disney XD, CN Network and Nick completely lost my respect over the years.
sponge bob needs something fresh. *snaps fingers* I got it! let's add a baby character then a dog! then a Mary sue neighbor girl! that'll revitalize it!
You're talking about The Fairy Odd Parents aren't you haha ,but both shows got run to the ground.I mean spongebob was on since i was a baby now i'm about to graduate high school that should show you how long the show's been going on.
If you look at The Powerpuff Girls, it did sort of get into a rut in Season 5 and especially Season 6, but they pulled the plug before it could get any worse and so they had a great lega-oh wait, the reboot.
This is why I have immense admiration for Alex Hirsch, he could have gone on for several seasons, Disney wanted him to go on, the fans were obsessed with Gravity Falls, but ultimately he chose quality over quantity. Am I sad it's over, yes, but I'm glad it had wonderful legendary run. You either quit a Gravity falls or live long enough to see yourself become a SpongeBob.
If I had my way, the show would've been cancelled after Season 5. Sure it had Spongehenge, To Love a Patty and Atlantis Squarepantis, but it also had The Inmates of Summer, Friend or Foe, Krabs A La Mode, Sing a Song of Patrick, and a bunch of other good ones. Season SIX is when the show Truly hit seasonal rot for me.
The odds of Bick cancelling it are small because they rely heavily on it for ratings, it's the only show that's makes them any money, they lose spongebob, they lose everything unless they start making good shows again
Ron Dest Music It seems we are at an opinion impasse. While I think it is marginally better than before to the point of being non-insulting, "good" is just putting it way too high imo.
Season 9a isn't good. Season 9b is very good, almost like the latter half of season 3. People don't like it because Hillenburg is back. They like it because of the fantastic animation, better humor, likable characters, and creative plots.
I loved El Tigre, it was such a good show. I'm glad the guy behind it is still getting work (he was behind Book of Life). Danny Phantom was around the time period as well ('04-'07). Now, I kind of get why Spongebob has lasted so long, since it gets played so much, makes a lot of money, and is generally advertised a lot to make enough money, but why is Fairly Odd Parents still going? I mean, I'd assume it doesn't make nearly as much as Spongebob, I'm pretty sure they don't advertise it that much, there isn't any big things to go with it like movies, while Spongebob has 2. Why is it still going???
Jonny Boy it isnt still going, The Fairly OddParents aired the last episode on July 26, 2017 and production halted in january 2018 after Butch Hartman left Nick And if your wondering what the finale was......there was no finale, the final episode was just a episode where chloe and timmy cant see eachother on friend day i think or something lame like that
Spongebob should have ended after the movie. I was 11 years old and in the 6th grade and when I walked out of the theater I was like."Man Spongebob was such a great show" but with season 4 though present Spongebob has become a big cash cow for Nickelodeon. People will tell Me "BuT sPoNgEbOb HaS gOtTeN bEtTeR". It's too little to late for that Spongebob has jumped the Shark numerous times I thought with It's a Spongebob Christmas I thought the series would rebound but Spongebob Your Fired and Little Yellow Book it made it clear Spongebob Sucks now. I think Sponge on the Run is going to really hurt Spongebob now that Hillinburg is dead, that are tons of incompetent writers. Nick can't afford Spongebob to be in another a dark age. Aparently Sponge on the Run will ruin how Spongebob would meet Squidward, Dipsh*t star/Patrick and Capitalist Krabs/Mr. Krabs At this point Spongebob has become a Zombie and Spongebob needs to end and should have ended. Look it how Ed, Edd N Eddy ended Danny ended the show with a movie and people look back on it as a timeless masterpiece. Spongebob is being ruined not just By Nickelodeon but the Memes and Portrayed by Spongebob has also ruined Spongebob.
Nickelodeon itself is he worst, horribly corrupt. They're like the annoyingly embarrassing uncle that tries to be hip but only makes a fool of themselves. Cartoon Network is like the chill uncle who is not afraid to speak his mind, occasionally acting silly (i.e. TTG) but for the most part just sits on the lawn chair and does a little drinking. Disney channel is the aunt who although is not the greatest, but is still trying her best to look for the most fun stuff to do with you, while Disney XD is the x-treme coolz uncle who is like a better version of Nickelodeon. He can act just as foolish, but seems to know what you want most of the time.
I feel like the end of Spongebob would inevitably mean the end of Nickelodeon...and I’m sad to say I’d prefer that. Once it does end (most likely due to catastrophe), the only shows that I know are still running new episodes are TMNT and the Loud House. Which they’ll likely run into the ground to compensate. Spongebob was my childhood and inspired me to strive towards a career in cartoon animation. It was even my dream to work for Nick for the longest time. However I’m sure if I tried to work there, my show would get tossed just because it’s not as successful as Spongebob in the first few years.
Well, sorry, Pieguy. It's getting a 10th and 11th season and it's getting a third theatrical movie. It's essentially turned into the Simpsons--going on for a very long time but continues to go on regardless. Besides, considering its high viewership and the fact that SpongeBob is the main reason Nickelodeon is still going on, do you think they're really going to cancel it anytime soon?
+PIEGUYRULZ Fair enough. Also, I mentioned this in a separate comment, but I think it's a good thing Nick passed up Adventure Time. Not only was I never a fan of it, but if Nick had picked it up, like you said in the video, maybe it would have become a completely different show. And since Rebecca Sugar got her start on AT, although I don't really like SU either, maybe if Nick had picked up AT, maybe Steven Universe would've never come to be. Plus, Nick has been showing signs of improvement over the past year--putting out Harvey Beaks and the Loud House which are two really good shows, cancelling Breadwinners and Sanjay and Craig and finally making the Hey Arnold! Jungle Movie, Nick will be better in upcoming years! Rejoice, Pieguy!
+P0CK3TB00K Theyre making the Hey Arnold Jungle Movie?!!!! No fucking way!!! I love Hey Arnold!!! Also, I've watched Loud House. I tempered my expectations, and I've surprisingly found it pretty enjoyable and funny. It's nowhere near a masterpiece, but it's good.
+JMitch Jr. Awesome! Nick is definitely looking up from here! They're actually beginning to get out of their dark age! From putting out Harvey Beaks and the Loud House to cancelling Sanjay and Craig and Breadwinners to finally making the Hey Arnold! Jungle Movie, Nick is definitely getting better, and they really have proven that they can get better! If there is only one thing coming to Nick I'm NOT looking forward to, it's Pinky Malinky, but aside from that, everything else is pretty promising! Have you seen Welcome to the Wayne? It's a miniseries on Nick.com that's really good that's being greenlit for Nick and coming out this year! What a great time for Nick to be around! #nickwillbegreatagain
+P0CK3TB00K I haven't, but I will be giving it a watch, and I've heard good things about it. I used to be prickly about alot of things Nick put out, but now I've starting tempering my own expectations, and have focused on the good than the bad side of things. Also, Spongebob has been doing good lately, and I recently saw a new episode of it (Mr Krabs trains Spongebob in boating). It was the most I laughed at it in years. That's a good sign (Fairly OddParents is still crap though).
Nickelodeon kinda mirrors the Disney Channel in a way. While not as drastic, I remember a time when it seemed like their only cartoon was Phineas and Ferb. They didn't air it non-stop like SB, but in between Suite Life and the countless pop star series (which is something I recall Nick doing for a while) that was usually the only animated show they made a big deal about. And before that, most of their cartoons were flash-in-the-pan stuff like George the Barbarian.
On a separate note: I loved The X's! I wish more people talked about it. It wasn't the greatest show ever, but I liked its weird, streamlined, blocky art-style and it had a really fun premise with some cool characters. (GlowFace was such a cool villain!) I wish it had been given a chance. Catscratch was a great show, too. Though, it was weird that an adult male anthropomorphic cat had a crush on an eight-year-old girl. Like, seriously. That show basically condoned pedophilia (and bestiality, but it's a cartoon). Am I the only one who kind of liked Back At The Barnyard? I thought that it was really funny. It was really stupid, but I liked how over-the-top and zany it was. At the very least, it felt like the writers were trying to write clever jokes. I remember the show having a lot of fourth-wall humor and bizarre comedic cutaway gags (they weren't as obnoxious as they are in Family Guy). Plus, it was actually an improvement on the original movie, which was bland and essentially The Lion King on a farm. Meh... I won't call the show a masterpiece, but it was entertaining, at least.
X's and Catscratch were both good premises that didn't seem to get enough time to explore their concepts. Barnyard I wasn't partial to, but to the show's credit, i have a general grudge against Nick buying the rights to make shows based on movies. I feel like it's lazy on their part, since they know the movie already has a fan base. It doesn't necessarily make the show bad, but they just shouldn't exist, really. I hope they learned after Monster's Vs. Aliens didn't work out that that tactic isn't going to cut it anymore.
Well, it worked with Jimmy Neutron, which was a movie first. Plus, Both Jimmy Neutron and Barnyard were made my Nickelodeon, unlike the endless Dreamworks shows they have. Catscratch always reminded me of The Angry Beavers, for some reason. Maybe it was the overall tone and premise of the show. Apparently, a lot of people hated The X's. This is news to me. I really wish both shows had gotten a chance to explore their concepts. At least Catscratch lasted for a full year. The X's only made it to twenty episodes.
***** Hm, I hadn't considered Jimmy. My head was wrapped around those endless Dreamwork shows. I think Jimmy's movie lends itself to be a concept that could be explored as a full TV show more easily than the others, but that's just my opinion. (It could also be because Dexter's Lab was on at the time and the show borrowed one or two things from it.) I apologize, was Barnyard a Nick movie? I suppose it was. O_O I forgot. Nick hasn't put out an animated movie like that in so long. (that I'm aware of.) I could see the parallels between Catscratch and Beavers, animals kinda dealing with humans every once in a while, but mostly keeping to themselves. The brothers trope also brings Beavers to mind. Catscratch worked because, well, Mr. Blick reminds me of Cat from Cat Dog, and Waffles and Gordon have their own unique personality that gave them all chemistry. The show would have been dull otherwise. I guess the X's was too similar to the Incredibles for some people, that's the only reason I can think about why people hated it. People don't like possible copycats. But that's why I liked it. We're still waiting for an Incredibles 2 and it's 2016. -_- I like that the X's never took itself too seriously, it could make all it's characters look very dorky, so it could do things that the Incredibles couldn't really do.
kartoonfanatic You know, I have heard that people hated The X's for being similar to The Incredibles, but honestly I never saw the similarities. One was a family of superheroes and the other was a family of secret spies. The X's was mostly comedy, which worked to its advantage. I'll admit, I mostly watched it because I loved GlowFace and he had such a cool design. I liked how the electricity in his bulb-like head was always moving. I need to watch it again. It's not easy to find online, so I may have to do some deep searching.
***** I never made the connection myself until I saw other people point out the release of the Incredibles and the X's appearing soon after that. I like that they are spies, too. I feel like it was trying to do it's own thing, pulling elements from Mr and Mrs. Smith at times, too. Ah, GlowFace, I forgot his name! Yeah, his design was amazing. :3
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't think the show needed to end RIGHT after the movie. Seasons 4 and 5 do have some bad episodes, but between those two seasons there are also lot of really great ones. In my opinion Seasons 4 and 5 deserved to exist, and if the show ended after that point its legacy would still not be hurt.
+Maxwell Shapiro You're not. I like 4 and 5 as well to an extent. I'm happy they exist, but at the same time if the show had ended after 3 it would have been nearly flawless from start to finish.
That is true, but rarely does a show stay perfect throughout its entire run. Rugrats, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo and even Friends were said to have had dips in quality towards the end of their runs. But despite that, all of them are still looked back on as great shows. Even though SpongeBob's 4th and 5th seasons weren't as consistently good as its first 3, they had enough great episodes to justify their existence, and so the show's legacy would not have been damaged had it ended after Season 5. (And by the way, thanks for replying)
But then again, the series wouldn't have been hurt if 4 and 5 never existed. Granted, it doesn't mind having 4 and 5, but it wouldn't make a *huge* difference.
Personally, I think that Rugrats went through seasonal rot worse than Spongebob ever has so far. It kept adding new characters and didn't have the formula to recover from seasonal rot. As for Spongebob ending, like The Simpsons, it should end when it wants to. Since it made such a huge impact, it deserves to keep going as it wants. And no, Spongebob hasn't hurt Nickelodean. Nickelodean hurt Spongebob by forcing it into overdrive.
andykishore My point is that even though a show can be really popular and rake in the cash, it's still possible to make more great shows. Blaming Spongebob for Nick's shortcomings is really unfair.
+andykishore, I agree with you, and disagree with you at the same time. If you had said SpongeBob wasn't the reason Nick was declining 6 years ago or more, I wouldn't be able to agree with you more. But what SpongeBob is doing for Nick at the moment is allowing it to not try very hard with any new cartoon ideas. As early as the days of the Mighty B!, it was clear Nick wasn't trying very hard with their new cartoons outside of gimmicks and famous voice actors. And since then, they really haven't tried. Butch Hartman's Tuff Puppy was the first new cartoon on Nick in years that seemed to at least be trying to be decent, but even then, it seemed to lack something.
kartoonfanatic That's not Spongebob's fault. Nick should be looking for as much great programming as possible. Spongebob is trying to be better instead of just relying on its' name to rake in viewers. Nick wasn't really trying that hard, although that does appear to be changing somewhat. The Loud House, the Hidden Temple movie, and Hey Arnold movie are steps in the right direction.
I think this show should of ended at the end of Season 5, but... it's not really the show I want to end. I want FOP to end because it's getting terrible >_>
Getting? FOP went to crap the instant they introduced Sparky and decided "let's forget all continuity, it doesn't matter, nobody remembers the older episodes"
+SBells27 Wait? I thought they canceled Fairly odd parents! because i don't see it air any more and that shitty Alvin and the shitbums show replaced its marathon spot.
I stopped watching FOP right after Sparky was introduced. That episode where he makes his debut is horrible. I didn't personally mind the Poof episodes. I think the show really hit a low point right around the time the Wishology trilogy aired. I only kept watching for the first live action movie because I have been a Drake Bell fan ever since I first saw him on The Amanda Show. I was horribly disappointed. I haven't been a consistent viewer since then. Butch Hartman himself still feel that show is viable. I get that FOP is his baby in a way but I think he just can't see that most viewers are not liking and have not been liking the turn the show has taken. Why doesn't he just cancel this show and bring back Danny Phantom for one more season? He has acknowledged that DP has a strong cult following and he tries to give viewers to his UA-cam channel DP content whenever he can. However he just can't seem to admit that the show is ripe for a return. The worst thing that could happen is that Nickelodeon rejects the reboot. It was one of the best cartoons of the last 10 years IMO.
I didn't mind the 6th and to an extent the 7th and 8th Season of Fairly OddParents (Though I don't care for those seasons like I do with SpongeBob seasons 4 and 5). I honestly have nothing against Poof but I wish he had a bit more of a character. But yeah, I DO NOT LIKE SPARKY. In fact, I haven't seen a new Fairly OddParents episode in a few years. I stopped watching by the time we were in Season 9 ( When Sparky came around ). I saw a review for Chole and while I don't think she's as bad as Sparky, I can tell she was another obvious mistake to bring into the show.
WORST SHOWS 1. Breadwinners (Tons of ass jokes, farts, and twerking, its fucking gay.) 2. Teen Titans Go (Lacks everything from 2003, also ass jokes.) 3. Powerpuff Girls 2016 (Just like TTG, but with little girls twerking and bad voice actors.) 4. Spongebob (Latest episodes fking killed it and no plot in episodes, just a bunch of fillers and crying.) 5. Uncle Grandpa (an old man and a pizza with a ballsack abducting children in an RV.) TOP SHOWS 1. The Amazing World of Gumball (Detailed and has amazing jokes, this shows is gonna last another 5 years!) 2. Steven Universe (Unique and just the animation quality is amazing! 3. We Bare Bears (funny show of bears trying fit with people.) 4. Clarence (A show I love that puts me back in my childhood!!) 5. The Loud House (Its okay.) Some shows are great and good humor and don't have to rely on ass cracks and farts for a quick buck. All Nickelodeon does is breed out like 5 shit shows every month and Disney is okay.
I think about this a lot. I don't like having to put a qualifier of "Seasons 1-3 + the movie" on what was once my favorite show. Yet at the same time if I don't do that, and whoever I'm talking to has an impression of SpongeBob based on its Season 6 iteration, they're not thinking about the show I love. So I often wish SpongeBob had its proper conclusion back in 2004. But it didn't. And I can't change that. All I can do is hope that the show can get back on track and regain at least a bit of the glory it once had before it finishes for real. The second movie gave me some hope. Not full confidence, but enough hope for me to grapple with to make an in-depth hour-plus review of it! My passion's still there because of just how strong the show was in its early years. And you know, even if the show doesn't get better, that passion you, me, and anyone watching this video can be presumed to have is how you know the show is true art. Because true art can transcend anything, even a bunch of lesser versions of it. And that's what SpongeBob has done, and no marketing angle can change that.
+Kylo Ren It is. The show has consistently run for 6 years now. It's quality has never wavered for me. It helps that they keep a tight track with regards to everything - continuity included. Plus, it's always stayed true to itself, and never dives into convolution, which is one reason I despise Adventure Time now due to it changing its core personality, ruining it's charm for me.
+Kylo Ren A lot of kids nowadays also really love Spongebob. So that is not really a good argument to say that Regular Show is still good. I only have a problem with this argument btw, I still love Regular Show.
I actually liked Back at the Barnyard. It wasn't the best, but not terrible. I actually found joy in watching it. It lasted for 2-3 long seasons, but it lasted from 2007-2011. Not too bad, even though they had a hiatus in the 2010-2011 TV season. It ended rather well with a final, silly double length episode.
Spongebob died well over a decade ago for me... it's crazy to think how long ago that is now. I grew up with the show, (well I was a little bit old at the time already) but it stayed with me well into my teenage years. By the time I was around 16 it was over for me. I really think the late 90's to mid 00's were Nick's golden age. Probably around 2004 when Nick was ending a lot of there good shows.
+Sam Geuvenen Same as well as Season 5. In my opinion, I think Season 4 and 5 have a lot of episodes that are better than most things from Seasons 1-3.
I think it speaks to the quality of early Spongebob that, even after it hit rock bottom, people will still acknowledge how good those early seasons are. Compare this to, say, Family Guy where people will generally say "Family Guy sucks" as a blanket statement. I, personally, used to like Family Guy, but now I struggle to remember why. Spongebob on the other hand, I still think fondly of early episodes like Pizza Delivery and Band Geeks.
I hope that the show will end with Season 11 and the Third Movie. Right now , the show has the potential to bring back some of its former glory that it had in Season 1-3. Right now, we have Stephen Hillenburg back, new writers and old writers (Like Kaz for example), and fresh animation. Also Nick isn't being dumb and ordering a MASSIVE amount of episodes per season. (Which IMO, is one big reason why Season 6 + 7 were so bad, when you make your writers write that many episodes, it's no wonder why there was little comedy and things were repeated so much) I am enjoying Season 9b so far and the show MIGHT be able to at least get close to the quality it once had with Seasons 9, 10, and 11. I really hope that this third movie will be the shows ending point and we will be able to look at it again with positivity.
Loud House is doing better than Spongebob right now so there's hope. Hopefully, it won't be popular for some time, fade into obscurity, then get cancelled like Breadwinners. (Note: I'm happy that Breadwinners died)
I kind of hope Stephan Hillenburg will make a new show Spongebob has had all of the fun and charm sucked out of it and I don't think Stephan Hillenburg can bring it back
andykishore ***** House Fancy isn't really a bad episode but it's nowhere close to being as good as classic Spongebob. If that episode was released back in Season one or two, it would be regarded as one of, if not the worst episode. The writers did technically write the episodes, but it really goes to show that Stephen Hillenburg played a huge rule in making the show good.
To quote the Nostalgia Critic from his Top 11 The Simpsons Episodes: "I wish [Spongebob] would just DIE, so we can talk about how great it was!" Honestly, though, I see Spongebob continuing until one of the main voice actors dies. When that happens, I think that the show will finally end because I know that the executives know how distinctive and colorful the voice actors' performances are. Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke are those characters and no one could ever replace them, and I would like to think that the network and the creative team working on the show know that. And the unfortunate occurrence of one of the voice actors passing away soon is plausible. I know that Roger Bumpass (Squidward) is nearing seventy. So I think the show will end when one of the main voice actors dies. Those voices cannot be replaced, and everyone knows that. (Although, I have been told that my Squidward and especially my French narrator voice are pretty spot-on, so Nickelodeon... Call me! :D) Also, say what you will about how bad the modern episodes have been, but at least the show knows what it is and has never tried to do anything drastic- like, Fairly Odd Parents. At this point, modern Fairly Odd Parents is worse than modern Spongebob. I honestly don't care whether Spongebob gets cancelled or not. I want Fairly Odd Parents to die. When Spongebob does end, though, I will be extremely sad- no matter what note it ends on. Throughout my childhood, Spongebob was really the one constant thing and it really was substantial in forming my generation's sense of humor. When it ends, it will be extremely sad for me.
+Poor Quality Productions 2 Yeah, but only the voices for the side characters. The main characters' voice actors are very much still alive. And besides, on that show, if an actor dies or decides to leave, the writers can always kill them off. They can't exactly do that on Spongebob.
I think the fact that season 9B is good is just all the more reason to end it now. End it before it sinks back down to the lowest depths of Rock Bottom.
I perfectly agree with what he is saying. Spongebob has lasted way too long and trust me, there are more mediocre and bad episodes than good ones. I can practically say the same thing about Family Guy, the Fairly OddParents, and American Dad to a certain extent. But, ironically, Spongebob and Family Guy have gotten so popular that there is no way they're gonna end anytime soon. Prepare for Family Guy Season 20 and Spongebob Season 15. Possibly more...........
I don't see the show going away until the voice actors issue their retirement I mean look Tom Kenny is getting old so is all the other guys that stayed in that show... there's no way they can continue to this day
Originally Spongebob was gonna get cancelled when the movie was made. Although, since they got so much money from the movie they continued it. But then it is rumored that the 3rd spongebob movie will end it. So I pray to god it does die. But then it was my favorite show as a kid and somewhat now
Thanks for this. It's good to see you back at it again with the Square Theories. Yes, I would like SpongeBob to end soon. Wth the exception of the six or so episodes that recently aired, I have seen every episode. At this point, I don't really care if I miss those episodes. I would watch the new ones just because I don't like seeing most of something without seeing all of it. Now I don't really mind missing some of it.
Very interesting Square Theory. I personally have nothing but agreement with your second point, but as far as the first, I have a couple of things to note: I feel like SpongeBob's legacy will never die because a lot of people I know haven't seen the newer seasons and to be honest, aren't even aware that the show is still running. They just remember it as this awesome show that they grew up with, and that really won't change. The Simpsons, which has been a franchise zombie way longer than SpongeBob, still has a great legacy. I feel like it might help the legacy for all of us who care a little bit more about the Nick/cartoon culture, but to the average viewer, I feel like they'll always remember SpongeBob the same way. I'm not saying that I disagree or you are wrong in your first point because it will certainly change the way SOME people see the show, but from my experience and opinion, I'm not sure that it will for everyone. Do you have any friends, not in this online community, but just friends who probably watched these shows when they are younger? If so, how do they feel? I'm curious if your experiences are different or similar to mine.
It's funny, you'd think that with a safety net companies would experiment more, because they can afford it and that companies that aren't doing too hot would play it safe. I do think both reasons are compelling, the first one even helps when trying to make a revival/reboot or selling merchandise for the long term, a la Invader Zim. I am not going to be hard line and say that a something needs to last X years at most, but since Spongebob is clearly just repeating old plots in a lot of these seasons according to your seasonal reviews, I do think it needs to stop, same with the Simpsons and the gimmicky celebrity episodes. There is aslo something to be said about a highly popular and influential piece of media accidentally ruining a genre, like Watchmen, the Killing Joke and The Dark Knight returns did for comics or Dragon Ball for shonen manga.
I'm actually enjoying Season 9B, though I don't want it to, I think it will eventually end and that will most likely happen after the eleventh Season and third movie in 2019 to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary or something
Wow, My Dad the Rockstar is so forgotten that you didn't even mention it. I think it was about 2005-ish when that show came out so right within the timeframe stated. At that time for me, the shows you listed except Mr. Meaty because that was awful, I watched. I enjoyed Catscratch & the X's & remember both just disappearing like they were kidnapped or something which is a huge disappointment. I'll acknowledge that most other shows at that time were neglected but none of them were as badly abused as Danny Phantom. I give the speech on how badly treated that show was all the time, no need to go over it again but between airing some episodes out of order & airing the entirety of the third season within just a few weeks like they were taking out the garbage or something, that's unforgivable. Sorry, that's one of my all time favorite shows so I get a bit touchy about it. I do have to appreciate Disney when thinking about SpongeBob & Fairly Odd Parents because Nickelodeon has milked those dry while the Disney Channel has that nice limit on episodes per series. When shows like Kim Possible went past that limit, I was a bit worried but happy with the end result. Now, one of my other all time favorite shows, Phineas & Ferb went far beyond that limit & that scared me. I had been watching Phineas & Ferb ever since it first aired, I was there for Rollercoaster in summer 2007 & caught the series finale nearly a year ago. I actually still have the finale saved on my DVR. Can you imagine how scary it was when we first got the news that this show was breaking the rules & going above the limit? Time to tell mom since a satellite has crashed into the backyard! Nah, actually I was excited since Kim Possible had a good ending. It did get to a point when I realized that if it didn't end soon, that this could become Disney's SpongeBob. I saw it grow, I was well aware that it was becoming an unstoppable force & was nervous on watching new episodes since I was scared on decreased quality & yes some of them didn't live up to the standards the series has but it was clear they were doing their best to keep it from going stale. I cried tears of both sadness & joy when Phineas & Ferb came to an end. It will live on in the hearts of its fans as a good series. It hurts to know SpongeBob can't have that justice. Right now, I'm 24. I think I was around 7 or 8 when I first watched SpongeBob & I did catch it when it premiered. It was a fantastic show that left some wonderful memories like singing some songs from the series during camp as well as when they first came out with Spingebob merchandise, that annoying song that played for the commercial that states you can now wear square pants on your own behind. This series has been around for a long time & gave people great memories but now there's terrible things that ruin it like One Course Meal. You know when you mention that show, the thought of that horrid episode will linger in your mind. Kind of hard not to. Sorry, I've been rambling. If anyone here wants to watch a good Nick show they have never seen or just simply forgot it existed, watch Pelswick. It's fantastic & had a good run. I mean, better than you would expect since some of the content is deep for children. The creator of Pelswick is dead now but definitely look him up, he's lead a very interesting life & don't day the style of the show scares you off, read about the creator first if that's the case. You'll find out why it's done like that then feel bad about yourself unless you're a horrible person of which I am so I'm not complaining.
The problem is that SpongeBob Squarepants is just a reason for Nickelodeon to procrastinate to take a chance for new, enjoyable cartoons to take its place. The same could probably be said for Fairy Odd Parents. I also can't help, but feel that the cartoons overdue existence has negatively influenced some more recent cartoons that come out with studios looking at the wrong reasons why Spongebob appeals to audiences, cranking it to 11, and pumping out god awful cartoons back to back.
Since Rugrats (at least in my opinion) didn't become insultingly bad, another set of Spongebob episodes that are WORSE than the already infamous ones would certainly lead to it dying out and perhaps meeting a fate worse than what Rugrats got...
***** I can see what you mean by that. I didn't say the later seasons were good (I don't really enjoy them either). What I meant was that I didn't find episodes from the later seasons to be outright offensive to their audience (which Spongebob has done on numerous occasions).
***** It is stuff that really feels like it's meant only for little kids, but it's otherwise mostly harmless. At least there's no episodes where characters try to drive other characters to commit suicide...
What? Camp Lazlo, Fosters, and My Gym Partner's A Monkey were amazing shows! I loved those shows. Squirrel Boy, I don't remember all that much but I did like it too.
the problem with cancelling it is that new generations of toddlers and kids are being brought into it up to this day, and this new spongebob is the only spongebob they know
What if their parents buy the DVDs of early seasons? I'm sure the people who grew up with the first three seasons are old enough to start having kids now, so there's hope the next generation will be raised by hardcore _SpongeBob_ fans, instead of parents who view _SpongeBob_ as mindless kiddie fluff.
Fairly odd parents also a great show that went Massively Downhill Nickelodeon could’ve made a great series finale to end FOP much earlier BUT NO It was too “Popular” for Nickelodeon to pet go and went full Simpsons/Family Guy mode with the show and try to get THE RANTING BACK UP BY REWRITING THE CONCEPT OF THE SHOW AND ADDED A BUNCH OF FORCED NEWER CHARACTERS AND JUST dragged the show until it eventually Burned out and BECAUSE OF THAT FOP ENDED ON A BAD NOTE WHICH IS NOT ONLY EMBARRASSING BUT KIND OF SAD ESPECIALLY SINCE FOP COULD’VE ENDED SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT
I personally hate Spongebob and what it has done to Nickelodeon. It has gone way past overstaying its welcome, and has prevented some of my favorite original shows from ever being given the chance to flourish, and now we are stuck with this Nickelodeon parasite that will keep the brand held back, and keep the viewers in a Spongebob trap where were are practically forced into watching it cause it's the only freaking thing they promote and provide ample time slots to. It's why I personally see Nickelodeon dying and disappearing in about 5-10 years, cause more and more people with each passing year are dropping their viewership of Nickelodeon, because of being drowned by Spongebob, and going over to Disney Channel of all places. Ironically, they're the only network who is putting forth an effort to keep their viewers. I see the youth network apocalypse coming soon. and there will be no network out there that cable subscribers can turn to for their kids. This is absolutely appalling.
It makes me wonder why Spongebob couldn't have just end up being a cereal mascot like the Flintstones instead of turning Spongebob into a bad show after the movie if Nickelodeon wants to milk the series to death!
"Extreme Spots"-Mediocre. Squirrel Record-Mediocre. Patrick-Man!-Good episode. Patrick actually got some sort of comeuppance for once in the end. Garys-Newh-Toy-Mediocre. License-to-Milkshake-Decent episode. Squid-Baby-Awful episode. Little-Yellow-Book-Awful episode. Bumper to Bumper-It could have been really good, but the ending ruined it for me. Spongebob actually drove the boat successfully for once, so did they really have to end it on such hostility? It was Mrs. Puff's fault that he couldn't get his license that time as well. Eek, an Urchin-Mediocre. Squid Defense-It could have been really good, but it was a meh episode. The ending just didn't make sense. Jailbreak!-Good episode. Evil-Spatula-Bad episode. It Came From Goo Lagoon-Mediocre. Safe Deposit Krabs-Bad episode. Plankton's Pet-I actually like this episode quite a bit. Plankton was evil, but did show that there was some good in him. Don't Look Now.-Awful episode. Seance Shmeance Titlecard Séance Shméance-Mediocre. Kenny the Cat-Good episode. Yeti krabs-Mediocre. Spongebob you fired-I'll get a lot of dislikes for this, but I actually didn't mind this episode. Lost in Bikini Bottom-Bad episode. Tutor Sauce-Mediocre. Squid Plus One-Mediocre episode. The Executive Treatment-Bad episode. Company Picnic-Good episode. I enjoyed seeing Mr. Krabs and Squidward nearly fall for Plankton's scheme, while Spongebob didn't. Pull Up a Barrel-Bad episode. Sanctuary!-Mediocre episode. What's Eating Patrick?-Mediocre episode. Patrick! The Game-Bad episode. The Sewers of Bikini Bottom-Bad episode. SpongeBob LongPants-Decent episode. Larry's Gym-Bad episode. The Fish Bowl-Mediocre episode. Married to Money-Bad episode. Mall Girl Pearl-Mediocre episode. Two Thumbs Down-Mediocre episode. Sharks vs. Pods May 4, 2016[49]-Good episode. "CopyBob DittoPants"-Mediocre. Sold!-Haven't watched it yet.
Let me make one thing crystal clear for me and for everyone is that i never watched and never grew up with spongebob squarepants cause after airing since 1999 and having eleven seasons and 234 episodes, the show is getting repeated, repetitive, outdated and boring after many years like for real. i rather watch two of my favorite nicktoons of all time and those shows are hey arnold! and danny phantom and those shows are alright but the reason why i enjoy those shows for entertainment and they had quality.
To piggyback on your points, Disney went through something kind of similar too in the mid 2000s, but once they got Kim Possible, things went on the up-and-up. And UNLIKE Nickelodeon, that success told Disney that they should take some more chances with new shows. As a result we got Phineas and Ferb AND Gravity Falls, two of the best animated shows to come around in years. Not only that but we're still getting good original content from them like Penn Zero (which is definitely the most interesting concept), Star vs the Forces of Evil, and Milo Murphy's Law (coming this Fall). Nickelodeon, you have no excuse anymore. You got lucky with Harvey Beaks, but now you have to step it up even further.
I feel like I'm the only one who likes/fondly remembers Cat Scratch. It was a fun show and the characters were likeable (Waffle!), it's so sad that it fell into obscurity so fast. I think in a sense it reminded me a lot of the shows I grew up with in the 90s, it was like a callback to the 'vulgar/surreal humor with animals' type of thing such as Ren & Stimpy, Angry Beavers and Cat Dog, except a lot more tame, so it had some nostalgic value for me in addition to just being entertaining.
4:30 "What if they gave a character spin off show?"
Nick executive #1: "Write that down write that down!"
Nick executive #2: "Yuhhh" (playing tic tac toe on his notepad)
I feel like if spongebob ended at the first movie, you just know that around this time, a reboot would either be in the works, or be airing episodes already.
probably. just like with powerpuff girls.
I guess THAT would have been okay.
They just recently aired the premiere of The Gary the Snail Show.
this comment is halarious
They could've put time and love into a newer, better show ... But they probably won't
Dude I'm from the future further ahead and now Patrick has his own show, meanwhile the main show is at season 87.
Why didn't they just keep airing the same episodes.
+Super ahmed Why not just re-run Band Geeks 24/7? That would make them eat/shit money…
Pieguy: what if they gave a character a spinoff show?!
nick: one step ahead of ya buddy!
+Rave Raptor that would be horrific
Please don't give this idea...
The only characters from spongebob I'd like to see get a spin off show is mermaid man and barnacle boy. Their show could be like that one bad guy book club episode.
Your username gave me war flashbacks.
The water clones?
+Dance Water Dance mermaid man's voice actor died in 2012 tho
+Le Carlton yea but they can always get a new voice actor
agree the hero's could have a spin off.
I meant to say "I really like"
+Roystein98 I know.
Hey alpha I watched your spongebob top 10 with Jem reviews and it was awsome
@@anthonycorrie7298 Me too
I keep seeing so many people talking about how SpongeBob slightly improved because Stephen Hillenburg came back, but I think the positive change is more of a result of Casey Alexander and Zeus Cervas leaving the show. They both were writers on the show from Season 4 until the beginning of Season 9, and in my opinion, they've wrote most of the notoriously bad episodes from the past 10 years.
i also think its because of OTHER new writers coming in 2015 and writing better episodes than the 2 that just left.
Kaz, who wrote the classic episode Chocolate with Nuts, is back in the show.
Yeah, it's not really hate, but it's just general consensus that most of the bad episodes that have come out of SpongeBob were written by those two.
"what if they give spongebob a spinoff"
Nickelodeon: Ironic
PieGuy, you really should do a video on the stupid "it's for kids" argument, because so many people don't understand...
***** that's a really good video too, but it's different
4:29 It happened, they made Kamp Koral and The Patrick Star Show
PieGuyRulz:What if they give a SpongeBob character a Spin-Off?
Nick Executives:Write that down, write that down!
Honestly, i would prefer it to end it while it's bad again because then at least we would know we did not miss out on any good episodes
2016:What if they give a character a spin-off show.. 4:29
2021: The Patrick Star Show
I want Spongebob to end much like how I want The Simpsons to end.
Also family guy. Fits in the category
And you.
BatteryMill [sUpercHargers] and idiot 12 year olds
Reason number three, so I don't have to make even more of those goddamn every episode from each season. They take so long and I am sorry you have to make at least eleven
+Andrew Bradu LOL I was thinking of making that joke, but I didn't want anyone to think that I was going to stop, or that I didn't find them rewarding in the end, because I totally do.
+James Scurr Honestly, I've heard that The Loud House is doing pretty good as well.
+Andrew Bradu "but on the other hand, they do get me a shit-ton of views" ;)
+James Scurr l meant that the Spongebob reviews get a ton of views for PieGuy
+Liam Brockman And then they can all meet up in an elaborate afterlife version of the Krusty Krab and sing.
+BRRGames And tried too hard to be relevant by using smart phones, viral videos, internet slang, and the dreaded duck lips.
+BRRGames I've said it before, I wouldn't mind if the show ended at 5. I just say after 3 here, because that would have been the perfect ending place for the show where it would have had almost all good episodes.
me too. I would have personally asked for 2 more seasons anyway.
+PIEGUYRULZ I wanna agree, but... Fucking "Spongehenge" man...
Nickelodeon is worried about being poor, okay!
Welp, Ernest Borgnine, the original voice actor of Mermaidman, died during production of season 9. He was now voiced by someone else, and I thought the voice was the same.
@@ZenokweiAka They retired the character though...
TUFF Puppy was my childhood ;-;
+flowerbunny91 that true😌
+CrayDude345 // RageEX Yeah
The reason Danny Phantom got cancelled was because Butch Hartman hired voice actors without Nickelodeon's permission. Nick was not too happy about it, and were like "well we are gonna cancel it." I have the complete series on DVD, and I was hoping that they would have lasted longer than they did. Valerie was going to figure out ways to hunt down Vlad after she discovers who he really is, and she may or may not have had Danny and gang to help her. That would have been great. But no, Butch had to scramble everything together to make Phantom Planet.
4:32 Pieguy predicted the future… we now have the Patrick Star Show :-(
I feel ever since those spin-offs were announced this reality is becoming more and more close 😢
Just thinking about how, in 2019, Spongebob would be 20 years old is weird.
now i notice that hair strand and hate it only because you pointed it out
Agreed
"What if they gave a character a spin-off show?"
Well...
+LordKraken3 Let Spongebob get his Driver's License too and Squidward be happy.
*I'm going to be blunt:*
Season 9 isn't THAT much better and the show needs to be cancelled.
Really, Nickelodeon needs something new and fresh. Spongebob, no matter how much _better_ it's getting, needs to leave room for other shows to shine.
You`re right, it`s average at best.
Does anyone remember "Making Fiends"?
Yes, you stewpid girl! xD
me
+Liam Biniares Yes.
That show was dark.
+Liam Biniares I remember, what happened to it?
what if they gave a character a spinoff? welcome to 2022
The same can be said about many other shows, (cough) Teen Titans Go, Uncle Grandpa, New Powerpuff Girls, Family Guy, The Simpsons.
+Jonathan Seitz Only because you hate it dosen't mean it has to be cancelled
+What am i doing with my life That is why I only watch Discovery Family and sometimes Disney XD, CN Network and Nick completely lost my respect over the years.
+Jonathan Seitz Disney XD has its fair share of crap too...aside from Star vs and Wander (not counting GF since its over) its all bad...
sponge bob needs something fresh.
*snaps fingers*
I got it!
let's add a baby character
then a dog!
then
a Mary sue neighbor girl!
that'll revitalize it!
You're talking about The Fairy Odd Parents aren't you haha ,but both shows got run to the ground.I mean spongebob was on since i was a baby now
i'm about to graduate high school that should show you how long the show's been going on.
OH GOD FAIRLY ODD PARENTS FLASHBACKS
Rugrats or FairlyOddParents?
Not Bick, Nick, sorry
+Dancergirl600 Bick sounded like a mix of Buck and Nick, sounded like a really nice joke name.
+Dancergirl600 I'm going to call Nickelodeon, Bickelodeon, because of you. What have you done. You monsta.
+Dededeliciousness Wa hahaha you shall never be able to because of me!!
Dancergirl600 Bick is a real big...
Season 9 isn't good tbh, people are just glad Hillenburg is back and are hoping too much
Disagree it's much fresher than previous seasons. Ton more originality and much less flanderization
Ron Dest Music It seems we are at an opinion impasse. While I think it is marginally better than before to the point of being non-insulting, "good" is just putting it way too high imo.
+Whereisthearmynow its really not that bad not its actually can make me laugh
+Whereisthearmynow youre right. it's good but not seasons 1-3 good.
Season 9a isn't good.
Season 9b is very good, almost like the latter half of season 3.
People don't like it because Hillenburg is back. They like it because of the fantastic animation, better humor, likable characters, and creative plots.
If Spongebob Squarepants ever does end than Nickelodeon will just start use The Loud House as their replacement Cash Cow to milk.
Nah that show is too lame, it’d never be what SpongeBob is
@@Peter_Lankton Yup, plus its ratings are going down the toilet. The last episode to air had about 150,000 views XD
I loved El Tigre, it was such a good show. I'm glad the guy behind it is still getting work (he was behind Book of Life). Danny Phantom was around the time period as well ('04-'07).
Now, I kind of get why Spongebob has lasted so long, since it gets played so much, makes a lot of money, and is generally
advertised a lot to make enough money, but why is Fairly Odd Parents still going? I mean, I'd assume it doesn't make nearly as much as Spongebob, I'm pretty sure they don't advertise it that much, there isn't any big things to go with it like movies, while Spongebob has 2. Why is it still going???
You got me. It hasn't been advertised as much and not as many people talk about so...why the hell is it still going?
Jonny Boy it isnt still going, The Fairly OddParents aired the last episode on July 26, 2017 and production halted in january 2018 after Butch Hartman left Nick
And if your wondering what the finale was......there was no finale, the final episode was just a episode where chloe and timmy cant see eachother on friend day i think or something lame like that
Spongebob should have ended after the movie.
+P0CK3TB00K No. I don't, I say it many times in the video. That's why it's a "wish" and not a prediction.
That's a good sign (Fairly OddParents is still crap though).
right on the nose with bad spinoffs.
Lucky for you, Nick finally gave a chance for The loud house, and then, it was a massive hit.
Nickelodeon has been treating SpongeBob as a test subject for re-animation ever since the movie came out. -_-
Nickelodeon kinda mirrors the Disney Channel in a way.
*****
Hm, I hadn't considered Jimmy. (that I'm aware of.)
I could see the parallels between Catscratch and Beavers, animals kinda dealing with humans every once in a while, but mostly keeping to themselves.
*****
I never made the connection myself until I saw other people point out the release of the Incredibles and the X's appearing soon after that. I like that they are spies, too. I feel like it was trying to do it's own thing, pulling elements from Mr and Mrs. Smith at times, too. Ah, GlowFace, I forgot his name! Yeah, his design was amazing. :3
Nickelodeon has learned some lessons. They're not gonna make a spinoff; they did that with Jimmy Neutron and they cancelled fast.
As a big fan of Jimmy Neutron, we avoid “Planet Sheen” at all costs lol
4:29 Wow! He predicted the future!
***** Adventure Time has been going through seasonal rot lately too, but that was a dumb choice to pass on it.
***** I heard about AT seeing improvement as well.
TheSpecialPsycho And now they added Chloe -_- God I can't believe this show jumped the shark 3 TIMES.
'nobody thought of Foster's as something fantastic and groundbreaking" except everybody did.
WORST SHOWS
1. Breadwinners (Tons of ass jokes, farts, and twerking, its fucking gay.)
2. Teen Titans Go (Lacks everything from 2003, also ass jokes.)
3. Powerpuff Girls 2016 (Just like TTG, but with little girls twerking and bad voice actors.)
4. Spongebob (Latest episodes fking killed it and no plot in episodes, just a bunch of fillers and crying.)
5. Uncle Grandpa (an old man and a pizza with a ballsack abducting children in an RV.)
TOP SHOWS
1. The Amazing World of Gumball (Detailed and has amazing jokes, this shows is gonna last another 5 years!)
2. Steven Universe (Unique and just the animation quality is amazing!
3. We Bare Bears (funny show of bears trying fit with people.)
4. Clarence (A show I love that puts me back in my childhood!!)
5. The Loud House (Its okay.)
Some shows are great and good humor and don't have to rely on ass cracks and farts for a quick buck. All Nickelodeon does is breed out like 5 shit shows every month and Disney is okay.
Have you thought to maybe review The Loud House?
Just a suggestion.
Yeah I definitely agree. I feel the same about a lot of shows that stayed way too long.
+MiningBip3 why I think regular show has always been good .
+MiningBip3 a lot of other kids nowadays also really love regular show .
+JMitch Jr. In my opinion season 7 made Adventure Time good again.
I liked El Tigre too.
That was a show that I used to be a big fan of.
AGiLE-EaGLE1994 I loved watching that show and I wish they would bring it back
Spongebob died well over a decade ago for me... it's crazy to think how long ago that is now. I grew up with the show, (well I was a little bit old at the time already) but it stayed with me well into my teenage years. By the time I was around 16 it was over for me. I really think the late 90's to mid 00's were Nick's golden age. Probably around 2004 when Nick was ending a lot of there good shows.
i havent watched it since 2005. id be more than fine. I have steven U amongst others now
The new episodes have been really good
Seasons 4,5,&9 are okay.☺
+mm mm Season 4 is amazing in my opinion. While it wasn't as funny as the first 3, it has half of my favorite episodes in it
+Sam Geuvenen Same as well as Season 5. In my opinion, I think Season 4 and 5 have a lot of episodes that are better than most things from Seasons 1-3.
+TheGreatServer. = )
(Which IMO, is one big reason why Season 6 + 7 were so bad, when you make your writers write that many episodes, it's no wonder why there was little comedy and things were repeated so much)
I am enjoying Season 9b so far and the show MIGHT be able to at least get close to the quality it once had with Seasons 9, 10, and 11. I really hope that this third movie will be the shows ending point and we will be able to look at it again with positivity.
I love this comment so much. 100% agree.
I may be wrong, but isn't the next movie coming in 2019? So, Truth or Square 2?
+Jackurailets lets not talk aboot that pls
+Jackurai Truth or Square 2 would be AWFUL. The first one was already a slap in the face of SpongeBob's fans. Imagine how awful the sequel would be.
+Dragster Rants While Season 10 only ordered 13 episodes, season 11 ordered 26 again.
Loud House is doing better than Spongebob right now so there's hope. Hopefully, it won't be popular for some time, fade into obscurity, then get cancelled like Breadwinners. (Note: I'm happy that Breadwinners died)
I kind of hope Stephan Hillenburg will make a new show
Spongebob has had all of the fun and charm sucked out of it and I don't think Stephan Hillenburg can bring it back
he can't bring it back by himself. Even when it was good he never did it on his own. It takes a whole team of ppl who know what quality is.
andykishore ***** House Fancy isn't really a bad episode but it's nowhere close to being as good as classic Spongebob. If that episode was released back in Season one or two, it would be regarded as one of, if not the worst episode. The writers did technically write the episodes, but it really goes to show that Stephen Hillenburg played a huge rule in making the show good.
Your wrong
ded
well stephen hillenburg died sooo...
To quote the Nostalgia Critic from his Top 11 The Simpsons Episodes: "I wish [Spongebob] would just DIE, so we can talk about how great it was!"
Honestly, though, I see Spongebob continuing until one of the main voice actors dies. Call me! :D)
Also, say what you will about how bad the modern episodes have been, but at least the show knows what it is and has never tried to do anything drastic- like, Fairly Odd Parents.
+RyanX1231 Many voice actors from the simpsons have died, yet the show STILL goes on.
I personally have nothing but agreement with your second point, but as far as the first, I have a couple of things to note:
I feel like SpongeBob's legacy will never die because a lot of people I know haven't seen the newer seasons and to be honest, aren't even aware that the show is still running.
Luke Skywalker: It’s time for the SpongeBob to end.
5:24 They did for me, in season 11, my god. Ink lemonade.
Nick: Bah go away Adventure Time we got Spongebob
AT gets popular...
Nick: So what we still got Spongebob
AT blowsup...
Nick: WE LOST THE MONEY!!!!!!!
+Larssonie I also enjoyed Season 9A a lot more than I thought I would.
I hope so too.
4:32 that didnt age well
The problem is that SpongeBob Squarepants is just a reason for Nickelodeon to procrastinate to take a chance for new, enjoyable cartoons to take its place.
I agree with you Pieguy. The show should have ended in 2004 after the movie, just like how the late, great Stephen Hillenburg wanted it.
What? Camp Lazlo, Fosters, and My Gym Partner's A Monkey were amazing shows! I loved those shows. Squirrel Boy, I don't remember all that much but I did like it too.
I liked Catscratch too.
YESSS
Ryan R. he said they were not bad, he said they weren't as popular as the older shows
Landon Legate Why the hell did you take this long to reply that? And hell no! My Gym Partner's a Monkey was awesome.
Landon Legate Whaaaaat?
I both love and hate how everything he said in this video has come true.
the problem with cancelling it is that new generations of toddlers and kids are being brought into it up to this day, and this new spongebob is the only spongebob they know
SouthCalifas619 What if they've seen the earlier seasons?
rose SKERRETT they rarely air reruns of season 1 on nick anymore
that's one thing I hate about it.
8:39 In my opinion, 2009 was Cartoon Network's worst year before they started to rise back up in 2010 with Adventure Time and Regular Show.
Fairly odd parents also a great show that went Massively Downhill Nickelodeon could’ve made a great series finale to end FOP much earlier BUT NO It was too “Popular” for Nickelodeon to pet go and went full Simpsons/Family Guy mode with the show and try to get THE RANTING BACK UP BY REWRITING THE CONCEPT OF THE SHOW AND ADDED A BUNCH OF FORCED NEWER CHARACTERS AND JUST dragged the show until it eventually Burned out and BECAUSE OF THAT FOP ENDED ON A BAD NOTE WHICH IS NOT ONLY EMBARRASSING BUT KIND OF SAD ESPECIALLY SINCE FOP COULD’VE ENDED SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT
Channel Chasers should have been the finale IMO
This is absolutely appalling.
this topic also go for The Simpsons and family guy because they in same boat as spongebob
You look a friend of a superhero that get superpowers and becomes the main antagonist of the sequel.
I personally felt Foster's home for imaginary friends was an awesome show. But that might just be my nostalgia talking
i loved dat show when it aired im sad it was cancelled 😢
It makes me wonder why Spongebob couldn't have just end up being a cereal mascot like the Flintstones instead of turning Spongebob into a bad show after the movie if Nickelodeon wants to milk the series to death!
4:30 Well, that nightmare came true.
The first Spongebob movie was suppose to be the end of Spongebob but they noticed they could milk it
Gonna have to disagree woth you on Foster's. Foster's was in a higher league than Lazlo, or Gym Partner's, and definitely Squirrel Boy
"Extreme Spots"-Mediocre.
Squirrel Record-Mediocre.
Patrick-Man!-Good episode. Patrick actually got some sort of comeuppance for once in the end.
Garys-Newh-Toy-Mediocre.
License-to-Milkshake-Decent episode.
Squid-Baby-Awful episode.
Little-Yellow-Book-Awful episode.
Bumper to Bumper-It could have been really good, but the ending ruined it for me. Spongebob actually drove the boat successfully for once, so did they really have to end it on such hostility? It was Mrs. Puff's fault that he couldn't get his license that time as well.
Eek, an Urchin-Mediocre.
Squid Defense-It could have been really good, but it was a meh episode. The ending just didn't make sense.
Jailbreak!-Good episode.

Squid Plus One-Mediocre episode.
The Executive Treatment-Bad episode.
Company Picnic-Good episode. I enjoyed seeing Mr. Krabs and Squidward nearly fall for Plankton's scheme, while Spongebob didn't.
Pull Up a Barrel-Bad episode.

A spin-off is getting worked on now....
