I've seriously watched this Northern Natives series like, four, five times now. Incredible. This is the content that motivates anglers everywhere to get out; and those who do not fish to start.
I appreciate you not dropping the name because it could easily get over-run as it's so easy to get to and would not handle high pressure well. it's my go to water for stress relief a couple times a week because it's 30 minutes from my front door. in over 40 years in the area I released the only legit 20 pound plus bull i ever landed just up from where you put in. later in the summer i won't fish it because the amount of bear that gather for the kokanee and berries and i'm too old to try to outrun one., tight lines guys, glad you had fun.
Been following y’all’s channel since it was at 3k, now on my 7th watch of this episode just for the bully. The cinematography you produce is outstanding and the ability to build a narrative throughout is hands down some of the best on UA-cam. Excited to see what you come out with next!!
The emotional roller coaster of fishing is so beautifully portrayed through the videography, amazing work guys. It’s trips like this that will haunt your dreams for years to come. Enjoy
I just wanna say thank you, for making these amazing videos. You guys are bad ass and I hope one day we run into each other on the water. Don’t ever stop making this content! I know I speak for other fisherman and outdoorsman when I say I live for this content! 10/10
You find yoursleves on the Bitterroot, give me a shout. just an old retired dude but I spend most my time looking for whitefish for the smoker. when I get the hankering for boating I head over to Mussingbrod lake for grayling...just cuz it is non-intensive boating and Gryaling are kinda rare in the lower 48
don't know if it is legal these days but backinthe 60s guys would catch a bunch of small Cutts and tie their line to the Cutt and turn it loose. when a bigger fish took the bait head on, they would reef back on the handline and the Cutt's dorsal fins would stind up, basically "hooking" the big fish in the throat
From Wisconsin originally raised on brook trout. I've fished all Appalachia for brookies since I moved to Kentucky. Caught them from Maine to South Carolina I caught a few Bulls in the most southern part of their range in the jarbidge river in Northern Nevada. Also caught a couple West slopes in Oregon Now I want to move to Canada and finish the job.
You caught bull trout in lower 48? THat in it self is an accomplishment. Didn’t even know they had them in Nevada and I fished Oregon for a decade and only caught one and thought it was a brook trout at first. In Alaska we have dolly Varden. Basically a bull trout or very close to same
Yes sir Jarbidge river east fk. I had to report the catch to the state. They sent me some plaque to hang on the wall thanking me for providing them the info on my catch . That was back in 1999.Lol
@@MatanuskaHIGH There are bull trout in NW Montana. Kootenai River to be exact. Illegal to target bull trout there, but they will at times go after trout flies, or even the smaller trout on the end of your line. Had that happen to a friend - big bull came up and ate the smaller rainbow and the bull was landed on 5x tippet. I caught a small bull on a dry fly there once.
I just found your channel a week ago and I have watched nothing but since. Why this channel does t have 250k subs is beyond me. Production quality is leaps and bounds better than many more popular channels. It’s like Warren Miller movies but with fishing. Please keep up the content and the subs will come (maybe some gear oriented episodes would bring in more people?).
We caught Bull trout on Big Salmon Lake but we used 5" Daredevils with 2 spoons together for weight. Caught a bunch of them that way. S. Fork of Flathead River drainage.
Just stumbled across this video. Incredibly well done. This may be the best fishing video I've seen on youtube yet! Not only was there plenty of fantastic fishing footage, but you just seem like down to earth guys who love to hang out and fish. Loved it.
so so sick really getting into more backwater and new spots this fall, hopes of getting some good trout and into fly fishing more up here in PA, fish on brothas
This is sick. I like the big river streamer fishing...much cooler than nymphing a tributary in September that’s got 50 fish stacked in each pool on their spawning run. Good shit 🤘🏼
Epic video you know. It just keeps getting better. Very impressed with the fishing, filming, editing, and skill put into making this video possible. The scenery is better than 12/10, but the food was such a disappointment :) Thank god for Uber's out there though, they can make a killing. Keep grinding and making all of us jealous with the trips you are taking. Job well done my friend!
Well done gentlemen, great video. 10 weight for trout? They use 8 weights and less on atlantic salmon, lee wulff used even lighter.... I guess ya like to get em in asap.
Those bulls! Whoa! Alberta, right! LOL! Great video. What is that black reel? Is it the Ross Animas? Love it! I have an Evolution LTX that is my work horse. I've fished the Bow, Elbow, Highwood and Livingston. Looking forward to fishing some of those southern most rivers. :-)
Nice!! I know exactly where your at. I live here and still haven't had as much luck as you guys had on this day. Did you go above the dam as well or just below?
Gotta say man, you and most of the other dudes you've collaborated with have put out some amazing content, I fish a whole lot, probably close to 200 days a year for one type of fish or another, burnout is a real thing, and a messed up spine doesn't make it any easier to grind through, but you guys definitely have been able to motivate me to push through it and pursue my hobby/passion, that's worth more than I can say, thanks guys!
subscribed..nice work gentlemen. Your frame add ons..fore and aft seat bars..who makes? is that NRS gear? I have a salmon river frame from cambridge..would like to add on anchor system and rear seat like that.. info appreciated.
Biggest bull I've seen caught was 15 pounds..brought my girlfriend at the time out..n she smotherd my dreams and caught the fish of my dreams.. Mackenzie, British Columbia holds giants
They are only in 2 specific watersheds though if you want the ones that give you heart attacks wen your hooked up..all the other ones that have em in there hold 5lb max

matanuska high bull trout is a char - they are related. Bull trout get much larger, are broader, and don’t go to the sea. They look pretty similar and supposedly can interbreed (makes sense because of close relation).

I think I've watched this series 10+ times all the way thru, and it gets better every time.
Just a heads up that river is single barbless, no hopper droppers guys.

Dislikes?? makes no sense. Love the content guys and the edits!
" I need a 10wt." Lol
LMAO 10 wt for 18 inch bull. I just caught 4 of them yesterday on a 5 foot light spinning rod 8 # test. Much heavier fish I might add.
Dude I catch bulls all the time on my 6 wt... 10 weight haha
everyone knows if the Trout is over 14nches you have to use blue water tippet.FACT. LOL
Caught a 33 incher out of that hole where you guys caught that first bull last summer

Best videography in the game. Are you slowing down the 4K 30 footage or are you recording in 1080 120 for your slomo?
For slomo, I shoot 60p or 120p. 24p for real time playback.
Throwing big junk for bullies, most excellent :-) no trout set on that big boy WHAM 💥
Somehow resisted the trout set 😂
Nothing quite like a big Bully eat!

what drainage is this I thought bull trout were only living in fractured creeks?
