I think they should have delved into Maoiis past a bit more, like they did with the first movie, like he was abandoned in the sea, how cool would it have been if it was discovered that the island they were travelling to was where he had been born, there could have been legends and stuff surrounding him, or nothing at all (if it was a show, their could've been an arc where Maoii looked around at the place he could have grown up in as a normal person, and it could've seriously added to his character.) i also feel like they ignored everything important and left a lot of unanswered questions, like what happened to matanagi? why did Maoii get his powers back? is there another demi-god who helped them from the background? why did Nalo hate humans? (even when we got an answer to that one I wasn't too satisfied tbh) All of these went pretty much unanswered, and I didn't understand a lot even after the movie ended. Overall while the movie wasn't bad, I think with how they did it, it would have been better and more interesting as a show. I really enjoyed your video also! thank you! Edit- also I've noticed that recently, Disney movies have been a bit luck oriented, like with how so many parts of wish was just accidentally finding a way to the end (example, the goat scratching its butt on the convenient way in) it kind of bothers me, I heard frozen might be getting a third movie, i hope they don't do the same thing.
@@nicolelafferty5552 Yes I absolutely agree! Maui’s history - or even Matangi’s history. SOME depth to SOMEone. There was so much potential for it. I didn’t even think about that - we really have no clue WHAT motives Nalo had in cursing the island, or why he hated humans. With Te Fiti we knew her history, we knew why Moana’s island was having issues. We learned some of it at the start and learned more of it as we went. It had this epic moment where CHANGE was made. We didn’t get any of that in this movie. It was so surface level, even with that.
I luv your lil' artworks for plot retelling 🥰
