It would have to have a 1,000 horsepower engine, bulletproof windows, metal and tires and sealed body so it could drive across a couple feet of standing water. It would have to have defensive and offensive weapons. And a complete 20 year warranty. Even with all that, it would be less than half that ludicrous 825k price.
These types of rigs aren't for people like us. They are for people with disposable income and or rich. lol Hey, as long as there are people willing to pay, why not? Capitalism. 🤷♂
I actually saw one of these in the flesh--or rather in the carbon fiber--about 3 weeks ago in Colorado. It was struggling to get up a hill on I-70 outside of Denver.
Thats not a '825k dollar camper'. That's a camper based on an ordinary truck built with ordinary materials and workmanship being sold for 825k dollars. There is good reason these are not sold in any significant numbers outside of the USA. There are far superior constructed campers based on modern, efficient and globally sold vehicle platforms out there for the rest of the world . . .
I have always loved this truck. That said, considering where I have travelled this would have severely limited my routes simply due to its size. Everything is a trade off. I wonder if anyone has researched how to ship such a gem. Thinking around The Darien Gap. Australia. Europe, Etc. I know they ship the Unimog, Mann and Iveco builds but honestly, its size and sweet finish is its weakness. IMHO.
Saw one of these today in a parking lot in my little home town, big black and beautiful. Imagined you'd have to give upwards of duece and a half to 3 bucks for one of them. $825k?!!! Damn. But what a beautiful rig. Good to be wealthy, ain't it?
So, no kidding, there I was living in Fort Collins and working in Denver. I passed the Earthroamer plant every workday. One day, I got of work early and decided to stop and check out the factory. I immediately knew that it was out of my price range, but I still stayed and shot the breeze with the very friendly staff. I asked for a tour, but they said, "Eh... we don't really give tours." So, I just resigned myself to checking out the line of pre-owned trucks they had on display. Then, one of their executives met me. We learned that we were both in 4th Infantry Division together. He was in 1-8th Infantry and I was in Headquarters, 3d Brigade. We were both in Iraq with 4th ID at the same time. We had never met, but we knew a lot of the same people, including some of the guys we lost. After a few minutes of war stories and lies about how cool we were, he said, "One 4th ID guy to another, sure. I'll take you on a tour." The most impressive thing I saw was that all of the components are milled on C&C machines to tolerances of 1/1000th of an inch. The entire rig is digitally mapped and every piece fits together perfectly. You won't find "fudge strips" that most RVs have. Those are the rubber or nylon strips glued into place to hide the flaws where the joinery meets the walls and ceiling. Every piece fits together as tightly and flawlessly. They're really quality rigs and definitely NOT overpriced. If you want quality, you have to pay for quality.
Ironhorse brother! I was with 1-10CAV, 4th AVN BDE during OIF I. Tell me something, does everything inside the roam built to the spec of the customer or is it all set in stone on what needs to be there?
@@CCM1199 If you ain't CAV.... I was in 3d ACR when H.R. was the RCO. Then I was in 2d SCR in Vilseck. Stay CAV, baby!!! They have several configurations, but they're all according to templates. You have to pick from one of their designs.
If you look up their worker reviews. Seems like they get treated poorly, they all mention the trucks comming back within a month for repairs... I think the MAN brand might be better.
The Earthroamer luxury is flagship level. But paying $800K+ and only getting ugly, generic, base model Lariat trim is a sin. Id think they’d find a way to refit the truck cab with King Ranch/Limiter/Platinum trim. Also turned off by them removing the Rear seats and then selling them back to you as an upgrade at 5x the cost.
Nice but the cooking hot plates next to the plush leather lounge there is a concern, especially if you cook up bacon and eggs as it is gunna splash all over those 'ritzy' looking leather lounges. They need to install a side mounted splash back screen between the two perhap,s one that rises up or down as required.
Life expectancy? How you even come up with this? You should request auto manufacturers to add this to vehicle specs. What is life expectancy of a truck? Well, somewhere in between the time you left dealership to 5, 10, 20, 60 years?
Correct an 100% agree with you. You can get a house with this price and it will lust untill you die but this a car house and no parts lust more than 20 years.
Like any other vehicle, depends on how one uses it. As far as the living space, imagine hundreds of earthquakes every day on one's home. lol As quality as it is, it's gonna need continuous maintenance.

@kdm5706 My young kids race motocross up here in Canada so we've experienced our share of intense storms and seen many trucks/RV trailers get stuck in all sorts of situations.
