In January 1959 My parents took my sister and I to Tilbury docks. There we boarded the Orient line ship Orion to Australia for a new life down under. We returned a few years later in the exciting 1960s and London was still as beautiful, this was all before multiculturalism, and Sadiq Khanage killed it all, how sad ! 😢
Always a touch of sadness in these types of videos - they’re a beautiful time capsule and lovely to reminiscence but I can never manage to block out that the majority of people ( over 30 in this particular video ) will no longer be here.

That beautiful lady around 7:49. I bet she'll be in her mid 80s now. Everyone so well dressed, so proud. I was in London last week and half the population seemed to be carrying black plastic bags on their back, probably carrying everything they owned. Heartbreaking.
To think that I was taken there only 13 years later on a school trip in 1972 at the age of 10 years old. I remember looking at some wreaths from the Emperor of China for the Duke of Windsor, having not a clue who he was, and being taken to the Tutankhamen exhibition, also without a clue who he was😪
Great views of London. Changing of the Guard, Horse Guards, and Bobbies on the beat with blue shirts then (white shirts then for the rank of Inspector and above).
There was plenty of crime in this era armed robberys and such it wasn't all golden times my grandfather was a alcoholic and having affairs in this era But great footage of merry Old England 🏴👍
I see many nostalgic laments on here. Hypocrites - you lot caused it or voted for it. The young, who are always blamed, have to live with the mess you created.
When a trip to London was thrilling rather than dangerous.
London is safe as ever it was. Although there was a time in the 1940s that it wasn’t.

It's very sad indeed. 😢
And don't forget old shark eyes.
Its like waking up in the middle of a bad dream now and realising its not a dream.

In 1959 my mum was 22 sadly now gone my dad was 25, he passed away this year 2024 truly the end of an era ❤
SORRY TO HEAR IT AMEN
When England was great. Unlike now. Unrecognisable.
An absolute golden age compared to the England of today.
Unfortunately the fruits of capitalism dont last forever
I doubt if the air was very clean
In fact I know it wasn't, being there at the time.
CAME TO ENGLAND FROM DUBLIN IN 1970 TO ROYAL NAVY, I REMEMBER FEELING UPLIFTING SPIRIT SALUTING AT REVAILLE WHEN I LOOK NOW,CANNOT RELATE
I can’t believe how quickly and badly we’ve fkd this up… 😵💫
All back when we absolutely believed we & our children had something good & promising to look forward to.
The future looked bright after the ravages of the war. Weak Politicians betrayed these people and their descendants
It's heartbreaking to see how much we have lost.
The past is another country indeed

When England was England
This was wonderfully evocative. Thank you.
Used to visit exhibition road from the suburbs and the air seemed to be electrified with awe
We lived about eight miles south of central London and in 1959, I was four years old and my dad was driving one of those black taxis.
Love seeing the open platform RT’s & RM’s in these old clips, my favourite buses!
RM bus there. Must be one of the first as they were introduced in November '59, though prototypes appeared from about '54.
I was 5, had my mum, dad, grandad and grandma. Now all gone. Good days, now f**ked sadly.
I was a year old those times will never be again
Look at lovely London back then. Brings tears to your eyes. X

Britain before invasion.
1947 the last time Britain was civilised!
Great views of London. Changing of the Guard, Horse Guards, and Bobbies on the beat with blue shirts then (white shirts then for the rank of Inspector and above).
I was born at Mile End in 1959. Different world. All white.
Wrong. I clearly remember having asian and black friends living in parts of London in the 1950's. Get your racist rhetoric outta here!
@@_B.M_ you see everything and everyone through the prism of racism all day all your life don't you?

ahhhhhh POPLAR....miss you then,,,not now
How dirty the Buildings and Monuments were. London may not have changed for the better, but at least they’er a lot cleaner !.
Not a mad mula insight!!
Lets play a game, count the non-natives
I think I saw a Frenchman and a couple from Ireland. Bet the BBC wouldn't show this!
I'm counting racists instead

So glad there are no more pigeons at Trafalgar square.
Go 2 or 3 miles East, South or North of these scenes and London was not so pretty.

We voted against it. The politicians ignored it and followed their WEF/UN masters implementing Agenda 20/30.
