Hi Skizz! The band Wind Rose (Diggy Diggy Hole) is touring the US right now and should be passing through Arizona in April. I wanted to mention it because I thought it might be a fun thing for you and Impulse to do together. I'm taking my fiance to their Atlanta show for his birthday
My gosh im loving this, watching you and Gem working together. Then it turns into the skizz podcast . Love listening to you all interacting 😂 Id love you to come to the UK one day. My son and i will travel wherever to meet you. ❤
Love hearing the techniques each player uses, and about feeling like you're learning so much. Gem and Beans could absolutely give masterclasses in building!
Gem and Skizz just whacking away at the build, and you can FEEEEL the tension of judgement in the air and the teacher-student dynamic. Impulse comes around, and the chemistry is instant and brimming with energy. You dont need to know that to feel that these two know each other since the universe began.
Guys.... Mossy block crafting has been in the game for as long as vines have been. You could craft mossy bricks, cobble etc by combining that block and vines since at least 1.12 if not way before.
No shot, vines have been in the game for sooooo long, ever since jungles at least, maybe before them with swamps (idk about if they were added before jungles tho, I feel like I remember swamps not having vines before). I haven't played that much MC in years tho, so the mossy cobble recipe still feels fairly new to me, used to be the only way to get those blocks were dungeons. Edit: Just looked it up on the wiki cuz I was curious, vines where added in a beta update, long before even jungles. The recipe wasn't added until 1.8. So it's definitely been in the game a long time, but also definitely not the entire time vines have been in the game
A new one knowledgeable players sometimes haven’t found out yet is you can do all those mossy cobble block crafting with moss blocks too. It’s so handy and makes so much sense! Now that they have added moss it’s a no brainer to add it to the recipe instead of needing vines for mossy blocks
Skizz telling the stories of being a dad and changing diapers. I would have found that so disgusting at Gem’s age but now that I’m older, I found that discussion so endearing and heartwarming. Young ladies for the most part don’t realize just how strong biology changes your perspective on things as you get older. Not only that but I think culturally our messaging in the west to ladies has been so pushy for us to be like men that we’re missing out on that miracle of life that is child rearing. It’s seen and talked about as a burden but those experiences of raising children are like none other. They really help mature people, to be responsible for little ones. But I can also recognize that it takes moral people to want to care about doing it right, which is kinda a struggle to find these days. We’re a very self centered society and I think it’s been having bad down stream effects people didn’t care to pay attention to because it was inconvenient…wow that got deep. Main take away, appreciate and respect good parents and don’t shy from the responsibility, we need more Skizz’s to be good fathers in the world so we have a young generation to replace our aging generations. It’s a noble endeavor and an incredible moral good to raise good children.
Things are looking great! And definitely glad you decided to scale it down from the original pyramid. Was a good start, but looked a little more Freud than Maslow before of ya get my meaning.
About Imp's *FIBER OPTIC CABLE* : you don't, in fact, need a ten thousand dollar thing to terminate fiber optic cables. It's quite a finicky endeavor, but all you need is a $30 kit from China, field-termination-capable connectors, a very steady yet very gentle hand, and some amount of experience. You can easily find plenty of decent videos on how it's done on UA-cam. It's extremely easy in principle and kind of okay in practice, but, again, you'll just have to have at least two hours of experience before doing real connectors. More info on how it's done in the first reply.
There are four layers to a basic fiber optic cable. The core itself, the protective coating, the kevlar fibers that protect the thing and make it more bendy, and the outer plastic layer. What you want to do to terminate a cable is strip the three outer layers, make a clean cut so that the outer surface of the tiny fiber optic cable core is perfectly smooth, and then insert the whole thing into the connector, and fix it there. The connector works by having a small amount of liquid contacting the cut you make in the cable core and guiding the light into the real end of the connector. The guides will tell you all you need to know about the general principle of how much to strip of what, but in my experience, it's better to go off of the empirical measurements of the connector. When you insert the cut cable into the connector, you also need to be very gentle. Don't push it. Just let it slide into the thing, until it doesn't want to slide into the thing anymore, at which point, stop and fix it with a slider thingie. Then you'll need to fix the kevlar and plastic layers to the connector somehow. The plastic layer may need to be mangled a little bit, but that's no big deal. The best way to get experience with terminating connectors is by purchasing a fiber optic cable, a 'UPC' one (that means the connector itself doesn't have an angle on the surface) and just reterminating it. The kits come with a laser and a lightmeter, so you'll be able to test it. When terminating a real cable, take note of whether it's supposed to be UPC (usually blue connector) or APC (angled contact surface, usually green connector).
In case the bazillion warnings all over the places aren't enough, here's my one. 1. Fiber optic cable cores are tiny. As such, they present an unforeseen danger. Don't get a fiber optic cable core stuck inside your finger, or any other part of your body. Treat them with respect and caution. When creating little pieces of fiber optic cable core, dispose of them immediately by putting them into a pre-prepared clearly marked plastic container. Place the plastic container into the trash (i.e. outside of your house) immediately after you finish a cable terminating session, do not recycle. Fun fact: fiber optic cable core is _technically_ small enough to enter your blood stream. Not-so-fun-fact: it'll probably hurt the entire time you're dying if it does. 2. Lazers are dangerous. The ones that come in Chinese kits are super-duper-uber-dangerous. Why? Simple. They're invisible. You want even know what hit you. So you'll want to make sure you're not looking at or better yet seeing anything that can be a source of lazer light, even reflected or refracted. So don't look at the connectors when testing, they can kind of scatter light inside and let it pass through if you put the core in incorrectly. Maybe cover it with your hand. Only look at the display of the measuring device. The other end with the lazer you can easily put under a blanket or something and use the button switch thing blindly. The safety is very important to consider when terminating a fiber optic cable, and I hope I did enough to scare you into really respecting that. But also, it isn't that bad and that hard. The survivability rate for terminating a fiber optic cable is 100% as far as I'm aware. Just don't do anything stupid.
Hi Skizz, wonderful content as always, you always know how to make us laugh. Just a quick tip on mangrove propagules, if you bonemeal the bottom of a mangrove leaf block a baby propagule will form, bonemeal that propagule a few more times to get the full one and punch it off. This way you don't have to worry about not getting as many from breaking leaves
On the part Skizz and Gem are talking about being a difficulty (@28min mark) it could be dug out and cavernous as though the river had corroded area. Adding the dripstone and vine action!
Make a giant whirlpool feature that dips the water slightly below sea level right next to the pyramid. To symbolize the dangers and pitfalls that await you if you stray from Maslow’s
Before 2:00 the argument Gem and Scar started to have about flowers 😂 I agree though this that would be nice if there was like candles has that you can put 3 in one place😊 but flowers makes all nature beautiful in MC and in real life but Scar hates flowers in MC 😔 no everyone can like everything but MC wouldn't be pretty if there wasn't any flowers, 2:40 conversation was awesome too :D
Skizz I have to say when you bdubs and impy were talking about Bruno was the modern day Michael Jackson I have to disagree and say Bruno is probably closer to a modern day James Brown.
Pick up the blocks Skizz, wth! "Yeah, we're doing terraforming and I'm just leaving all the blocks that it takes to do that for despawn purposes, m'kay...?"
Impulse did point that out after seeing it in Skizz's chat. But if he keeps leaving things to despawn, it might be time for another "Don't be that guy"...
Skizz much love - but Gem - I hear you. Free Cam is cheaty. Sand dupers Cheaty. TNT dupers... controversial... but Cheaty. If you are claiming you are playing Survival Minecraft - there are things that are acceptable and there are things that are not. For the most part - we as a community assume that you as a 'survival' minecrafter are not using mods that affect your gameplay in a way that would make it inherently different than the minecraft that we the viewer play. Once you introduce certain features not initially accessible such as flying cameras, duplicating blocks and things of this nature - it absolutely can change the perception of the viewer.
Gem is a bit judgemental and clearly thinks very little of her american coworkers. She should just go back to her creative worlds she so adores. I skipped through the stream a few times and each time gem is talking poorly about people that use tools she doesnt like, then she straight up calls americans stupid for pronouncing a word correctly instead of how she likes it pronounced. Gem is Not great. She's judgemental and mean. Not sure why they added her back in season 8. It should have been skizz back then. Skizz can take some shit talk and dish it back without being mean and also does things like compliment every player. He's just a good guy meanwhile gem gets a bunch of attention for what reasons? False cleo and pearl are fun light and entertaining without shitting all over other players play styles. Sorry you have to put up with that Skizz, hang in there!
im hoping this is a joke. its called banter and i get not everyone understands how it works but its when friends rip into each other because theyre good friends. have you seen grian iskall mumbo scar doc and a lot of the other hermits have a darker more adult sense of humour they dont put into their episodes but in streams theyre being more mature because theyre friends with each other. if you watch skizzs phasmo streams with gem its clear theyre really friends and the "meanness" you see is gems giving back what she gets. imo
It's okay not to like people, but spreading nasty misinformation about them is a different beast. You self-admittedly skipped through the stream and are plucking out comments without seeing or understanding any of the surrounding context. They constantly make fun of how she speak and she takes it in good humour. Gem makes a joke about them (once) and you're that offended. These guys are friends and it's banter between them, they wouldn't collab so much otherwise. It speaks volumes that the other hermits you reference are the other female hermits. I wonder why that is.
Lol. They’re all adults. If any of the hermits didn’t agree with what was being said by other hermits, they would voice their complaints. They’re not children dealing with other people they hate. They’re all friends and they love to banter with each other.
Skizz will watch Gem Terraform :) (for the impulse audience)
For the impulse audience, me: WAHAHAHAHA

You used to be able to make it with the vines then they updated it to where you can now make mossy cobblestone with moss or vines

Put some soul sand under parts of the waterfall to create more bubble action and look like rapids.
Yes!! The soul sand is such a good idea!
