    Everything said about kanekelon surprises me- I've never had those problems with it 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I've heard that you can flat iron saran hair if it's damp!! I've never tried it myself bc I do NOT trust myself to flat iron doll hair, but thought I'd point it out

    Shanelle’s hair feels sooooo nice. Whatever type they use on Victoria is also wonderful.

    Your ramble wasn't just informative (thanks for that) but also let me glimpse the type of person you are. I had to subscribe!! By the time the 90's rolled around, Mattel used kanekalon almost exclusively for their Barbies. I think this is why second hand 90's Barbies have the highest chance of sporting a really bad haircut. Tangled kanekalon hair + frustrated child = home haircut Barbie.

    I use synthetic wig conditioner. I also use a wig brush.
    Thanks for the cancer warning. I'm a cancer survivor. I was thinking about boiling some doll hair. I'll try my wig conditioner and gentle detergent.

    My all-time favorite doll hair types are saran and kanekalon I don't really care for other doll hair types as they become too coarse and stiff and or just don't lay quite the way you want I don't really mind the lack of style ability I usually go for straighter hairstyles anyway but I definitely recommend nylon if you're going for curls and volume❤

    I HATE acetate hair! I think it's the only hair I found that I can't fix.

    From my experience, poly propylene is not as bad as people make it out to be. Most people who talk about poly propylene either don’t really have that much experience with doll hair or they just don’t know how to tackle it. I have plenty of, 2010 Bratz and Bratzillaz dolls that all have poly propylene and at this point they’re more than 10 years old and their hair was an even worse quality poly propylene (at-least for the Bratzillaz) and it is still in great condition and I play with them daily. Whoever said that poly propylene does not last more than 10 years, either was not telling the truth or Left out some information because that doesn’t make any sense, however, I can believe that it won’t last as long as other doll hairs, but not less than 10 years. Poly propylene isn’t really that hard to take care of or to style, you just have to know how to do it, and as with most things, most people just don’t ask any questions, they just do stuff for themselves and then make up their own assumptions and I feel like that is what has happened to Polly. To sum everything up, poly propylene is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

    Does anyone know what hair type Ainsley Slater from Rainbow/Shadow high has? A lot of people complain about her hair feeling different.

    • @collectorspace2313
      @collectorspace2313  11 місяців тому +1

      Ainsley has a mix of metallic nylon and kiwi nylon which tend not to blend together well creating an odd texture

      Thank you so much for telling me! I don't know if it's just my doll or Ainsley in general, but her hair tangles so easily.

    Do you know about the hair type used for OMG's "Miss Royale", and also Mermaze Mermaidz Signature "Kishiko", the soft cottony one? What is that exactly? Any thoughts on it?

    Off-topic but 11:08 doll is GORGEOUS! Her makeup and color combination is perfect. Also, Kiwi Nylon hair is my favorite. Super smooth and silky, never going back to any other doll hair type. I use it for doll wigs often.

    Oh this was very interesting. I will probably end up messing with my dolls hair at some point, so especially stuff like saran not being able to handle certain things, is very good to know. Thank you! I know my whole week would be ruined if I accidentally melted a dolls hair.

    I have a question what hair type do Disney store dolls have? Because I have a Esmeralda doll and I washed her hair and it was very soft for 3 days but later it just started frizzing and I pretty much had to flat iron it to get it to feel good again. It seems that their hair only frizzes when washed except Ariel her hair is good.

      Disney store dolls (except for Ariel) have polypropylene hair
      Ariel has nylon so her hair is a lot nicer than the other dolls

    How many hair types are there? And can you explain it all in a way that I can understand by touching the doll's hair?

    • @collectorspace2313

      There's a LOT of synthetic fibers out there, honestly idk how many in total there are. The main ones are:
      Saran: a thin dense hair fiber that is soft and kind of waxy
      Nylon: a lightweight soft and silky hair fiber, multiple types of this fiber exist, too many to adequately cover
      Polypropylene: a Low grade of nylon characterized by its dryness (think end of broom) and inability to hold moisture
      Acetate: a cheap fluffy hair fiber not seen on modern dolls very often. It sheds like crazy as it ages
      Mylar: often seen on plush dolls, it feels incredibly fake like a shiny party city wig from the $5 bin
      Kanekalon: No longer in production for doll grade, a thin soft hair fiber that feels very fake and tangles easily. Often seen on 90' Barbies with fantasy hair or a specific shade of blonde, seen on Monster High G1 dolls like Spectra Vondergeist and Ghoulia Yelps
      Acrylic Yarn: occasionally seen as representation of twists or locs on dolls with protective hairstyles

    I wonder what Shadow High Nicole Type hair is?

  • @Lemon_Lime_Lily
    @Lemon_Lime_Lily Рік тому +10

    Do you know why Saran doesn’t come in a ton of colors? I’m just confused because nylon can come in a rainbow of colors but Saran doesn’t? It’s kinda funny when people are like “BALD:(!!” When the doll has a perfectly normal rooting pattern and they go out of their way to mess with it. Or when a ponytail doll has different rooting to avoid bumps. You are the one showing the bald spots not the doll lol

      I wish I knew why Saran doesn't have as many colors as other fibers, sadly I don't think that's a question with a solid answer at this point in time

    • @CustardCream22
      @CustardCream22 Рік тому +3

      It's down to the different levels of porosity. Some fibers are easier to dye than others, and some are more prone to fading. Saran is best for natural colors.
