Ned, this was my experience also. Courtship is such an emotional rollercoaster, that I could only seriously have the energy to do it once.
What an experience, marrying an oriental lass. From being chaperoned, interrogated, paying a dowry (it's like stepping back in time).
I am SO happy for you and Chichay. Thank You both for sharing your story. I was enthralled. I can hardly wait for the birth of your second child.

One of the things you mentioned is a big reason foreigners like the Philippines. A guy who is past 50 has the opportunity to be a "chick boy". Doesn't matter if you want to play the field or are looking to settle down, just having the options is so different from what an upper middle aged guy (me. You're still regular middle aged) has in his own country. One visit to the Philippines and you might never be the same again!
To connect with a great filipina, that has traditional values, and you enjoy spending time with is a great blessing. I hope your life continues to progress positively. The time spent will be well worth the wait. When actions get placed out of order it can very easily change ones perspective or reality. Stay the course and you will be well pleased.
Ned has described what it’s like to meet and date a girl that knows her worth and isn’t impressed by every American expat they meet. Very refreshing!
That was actually a good thing or a blessing on your side that the mother did talk to you, Knowing they are hard working, well off financially, decent , educated, etc... and just wanted a good life for their daughter. Gold find.

Very very very sweet story....I've been going to the Philippines for 10 years. I have many good friends and family (I'm Ninong to 4 kids), but love relationship has eluded me some because of myself but more because of meeting the wrong girl....so it's a blessing to know there are really traditional girls around and you were willing to fight for her with patience, kindness and love

This is really giving an idea for those foriegners who wants to have a filipina girlfriend. Nice! All i can say is, find someone who value you and respect you in any ways and most of all, will treasure you forever and not taking you for granted. These days, rarely find someone who'll take you seriously though.

Dear Ned, I just came back from PHP and just been through what you are showing in your "cheesy vid of how I met". My interrogator, AKN as the interpreter as the family all spoke Bisaya. I have been trying to get in touch with you for some advice one your facebook page and your website. Very cool now when are you going to take her to meet your parents, face to face ? I took my partner this year after being with her for 10 years and we had a great time with my family they all wanted us to stay longer and made us promiss to return and live there for a while next year.
