It came out exactly 20 years after my best friend died of AIDS and wouldn't tell any of his friends he was ill. Fortunately we figured it out but yes that time was pivotal and hellish, yet paved the way for recognition of people's true identity to be recognized respected and celebrated. In terms of creating birthdays around key moments of change and how they flavour the journey, I got sober on my Dad's birthday and he's been my guardian angel ever since, so I would definitely agree.
