I feel like this is a classic case of people having the memory of a goldfish. Almost every team that achieves this level of greatness becomes the villain. That’s just how it works. Also, people said the same thing regarding the refs when it came to the Patriots. It’s nothing new. In 10 years or so everyone will look back at the Chiefs with a more nostalgic lens like they do with the Patriots now.

It doesn’t help that sports media has to get eyes every day, so they always argue and pick for Lamar or Allen or whoever they want next and the people watching only hear about who should be winning and not about who is. So the hate feels more concentrated when really it’s just more covered.

The problem with comparing Saquon’s accolades to TD’s are twofold
1.) different eras. It’s almost impossible for a RB to win the MVP award these days, which while criminal, is still a fact. Furthermore, RB’s don’t carry the ball as often.
2.) team. TD was in a loaded Broncos team. Saquon is *now* but he was a Giant the last 6 years.
That said, these guys do make decent points, all things considered.
Also, Jamal Lewis maybe should be in.
Rough part of revenge being your motivation is you have to visualize losing every time you tap into it. Psychologically it’s devastating to visualize losing.

345 rush att this year is by far the most he's had. So injuries are a concern, just look at all the high volume backs over the years, it catches up to even the best. Fun fact though, Saquon has been pretty healthy the last 4 years playing 13, 16, 14, and 16 regular season games. So its really just how far can he get (now with a real team) before injuries settle in.
Pretty sure the MetLife turf was the main cause of the Saquon injuries that place ends careers

While there were no chiefs nominees except for Andy (Who won’t win), I’m not sure there are any snubs. Mahomes SHOULD NOT win MVP. He didn’t the stats and was throwing a bunch of picks early in the season. Josh, Lamar, and Saquon should be 1,2,3 in whatever order. No one on that team should win OPOY. Chris Jones maybe has a case for DPOY but he has similar stats to Jalen Carter who also isn’t in the running. None of their rookies are that good so they shouldn’t win DROY or OROY. Worthy is not bad but there are 5 wrs in worse situations that did better. They didn’t have anyone suffer a major injury so no one should win CPOY. And Andy is nominated for COY, but that goes to the coach who did the most with less. Saying that there are no nominees is one thing, but who actually got snubbed?

Context matters: the reason the average running back is SO high is because they have Walter Payton (214), Jim Brown (184), Barry Sanders (177), Emmitt Smith (176) dragging the average way up. Ladanian Tomlinson (136) is next up. I bring this up to say the average in recent years is likely to drop. Jerome Bettis is the lowest full time Running Back at 75.
Derrick Henry most seem to agree is a future HoF, he is at 54. So Saquon has an outside chance imo & the seasons not over yet he could potentially add a Super Bowl & Offensive Player of The Year to his resume. Still needs more great healthy years in Philly though

Saquon had a remarkable season but his years with the Giants really set him back. It's really difficult for RBs to get into the HoF if they had really high peaks but not the long term production. Gale Sanders and Terrell Davis are difficult comparisons. He needs a couple of 1000+ yards seasons more. He can do it, tho.

My only problem with the saquan argument is. Hes slid down multiple times this year in the end of games to not pad his states. The Chiefs were 100% discounted the year they beat the Eagles. Analysts called it a rebuilding year and Chiefs were only given a 25% chance to win their division. Some even said they wouldn't make the playoffs.

Minor correction Brou - the year Terrell Davis rushed for 2008 yards (‘98), Elway actually won Super Bowl MVP. Davis won it the year prior against the Packers.

If you are a person who needs to be motivated you won’t ever be great. The chiefs don’t need to be motivated, Brady didn’t need to be motivated. Brady was just a competitor and wanted to remind everyone they were wrong but his desire to win never changed based on any of that. It matters for kids, it doesn’t matter for pros.
