Often costume and prop makers are overlooked in films and deserve just as much credit as the Actors/Directors

That seems to be a recurring theme on this movie, and that's definitely one of the main reasons the movie was so good and popular.

Just watched the movie the other night! You don’t think about the wardrobe while watching the movie, which is a testament to the creators that they fit in so well that they feel right.

    • @Dargonhuman
      @Dargonhuman 2 роки тому +5

That's a great point - superfans would have immediately noticed any discrepancy but I haven't heard a single person even mention the wardrobe except to wonder how Phoebe fit into Egon's flight suit.
Wardrobe is a bit like visual effects, when done right (as with this movie), the audience never notices.

I did think about the suits when they were shown, I honestly wondered if they had the original ones, or if they had recreated them. I'm actually a little gutted to find out they weren't the original ones hanging up. I didn't expect them to wear the originals but, thought they might have used them for the hanging scene. As for the movie, honestly don't think I've ever a case better sequel. It really is amazingly well done, all the in jokes and callbacks were amazing, even his return wasn't too corny.

A previous career I spent in commercial embroidery. Seeing the patch was interesting. I can see pretty much how it would sew. It is different from a normal patch. Those are usually sewn onto a fairly stiff material that may have the iron on adhesive in it. Patches usually are then finished a serger that cuts it out and gives that smooth edge to the piece. Those patches were just cut out of the base fabric and the threads from it frayed. It has been over 20 years since I worked in the industry, but when I see those things, it takes me back to days spent taking customer’s arts and ideas and turning them into stitch files for the machines. I used to say on a good day, I was a kid with crayons being laid to color. A bad day was hand lettering text, not nearly as fun as a challenging graphic design like a NASA mission patch. I was fortunate to do one for a Space Shuttle mission in the 90s.

"Unlike a superhero suit, which you look at and you think is untouchable, I think when you see a Ghostbusters suit you see a suit that is, it's very, it's very tactile... [A Ghostbuster's suit] looks human scale, it doesn't look otherworldly."
If you, an ordinary human being, put on Superman's or Batman's costume, you wouldn't _be_ Superman or Batman, you're just a person wearing their costume. But if you put on a Ghostbusters outfit, you could _actually be_ a Ghostbuster.

I was very happily surprised by Afterlife. It was a bit heavy handed spoon feeding the member berries, at times. But as a whole I think it walked the fine line well, between nostalgia fan service and embedding the lore into a new setting and cast of characters. Movie like this hardly ever can satisfy everyone, but it felt like it was done with pure and best intentions.

I honestly appreciate these videos that shine a much deserved spotlight on the parts of movie making that are so often overlooked or ignored but are absolutely vital to the process. The set and costume designers are just as talented and integral to telling the story as the visual effects artists, actors and editors, and they clearly have just as much passion and care for the movie. Thank you so much for giving them a chance to show off their craft.

  • @Trains-With-Shane

I love how he lays out not only the technical aspects of some of the costumes in regards to what it takes to make this thing look this way but also how he decides what the customer should be wearing. What is the story of this person and why they would wear this t-shirt, etc. There is a person who has a true obsessive love with what he does. And it definitely shows in the finished results. The CGI team probably gets a bunch of the credit for the ghosts and special effects but this guy's team puts the real soul into the film.

Can go either way, can be either a good thing that fans will bother them, more customers or a bad thing, more work and being bothered. Lol I def need a new flight suit myself, especially with the small ass patch my suit have. Lol. Also mines is missing side pockets.

Can anyone find a decent high res picture of the original suits in the film? I really don't think they were ripstop fabric back then. aircrew suits like this were not ropstop till the 90s I don't think....

I was thinking the same thing, I'm looking at the 4k and it looks much smoother and thicker than the ripstop fabric.

I stole the line "Dropping off or Picking up" from the first movie when I worked at the Medical Examiner's' Office.

I'm really glad they went with GB Janine and not GB 2 Janine. It seemed to me that they were pretty much cutting GB 2 right out.

I feel like I'm one of the few who really liked the new Ghostbusters movie. I really love these videos from Adam!

The instant Annie Potts appears in the movie it's not Annie Potts. It's Janine. A lot of that is simply how Annie Potts walks into the room and reacts to the Mom. There's a twinge of mystery going on. We don't get her story but we see there has been one. Several in fact and while much of that is the actress' doing, what she's wearing was so Janine. It felt like seeing an old friend for the first time since college and tho she's changed she's still the same. I want another film where Janine and Zeddemore work to bring Ghostbusters into the 21st century and I want Danny Glicker dressing them, cuz he got every clothing choice right from start to finish on Afterlife.
