Vincent D'Onofrio performance of the "Bug" was so underrated! He was absolutely hilarious to watch (In a good way) of always fighting to keep his body in his skin. Bravo!
I love how in every movie, there's a point where the enemy underestimates J and pays for it. K is the threat to these main villains, but J always gets treated like he doesn't matter.
I noticed it the first time I watched the movie back then in the summer of 1999 .. They should have been more careful .. it's a bug cut in the middle into two halves and one half with an intact head .. still not 100% dead ..
No excuses for acting that way, but he is clearly a broken man. I kinda pity him. All that money and still feel so insignificant. I don't feel that bad though, living easier than us.
Cuz VFX artists had time windows to work on FX back then. And make it good. Hollywood wasn't trying to crank out "content". You can make it good but slow. Or quick but cheap.
It was more handcrafted and every frame was done with more care and human precision today its more automated, computers dont see what the human eye sees what looks real and what doesn't
A lot to do with lighting and color grading. Putting CGI in a darker environment yields better results, but if it has to be a well lit or day light shot It can be matched and made to look very well too. Unfortunately, today, people like disney slap some horrible colorful filter on everything, making it look unnatural, even when the cgi can be jaw-dropping, effectively ruining it completely in the name of PG-13 or some bullshit
I dont think they were actually allowed to squish them in this movie I think they just used sound effects .. I think you can google that actually might find something
Is anyone else sick to death of these idiot commercials that keep popping up apparently I cannot skip? They only make me despise the brands shown. Hate them really. Will not buy them.
I love this move but never understood it , why don't we contact the other civilizations formaly ? Heack it would certainly stop most of our infighting because no matter where you are from you certainly are human while thye are not
It's explained in the movie. The vast majority of these aliens are refugees with no actual home to return to. You cannot contact a civilization that no longer exists.
This was before the infamous slap heard round the world, however I do think Chris Rock overstepped the line there's telling jokes then there's making someone the butt of the joke and Chris Rock stepped way over the line

From a police detective to private Pyle, he is a very talented actor!
Water. With sugar in it.
Not just hilarious, but absolutely horrifying, too.
0:51 you do know Elvis is dead right?
No Elvis is not dead,he just went home.
Tommy Lee Jones singing Elvis is a perfection that will never be improved on.
Most of I've seen him cut loose (not counting his Two Face portrayal, which was just disturbing)
His hair hanging upside makes it funnier lol
"Was that your Auntie?" That line. I laughed so hard in the theater I nearly passed out. So perfect.
The graphics of that insect hold up well, especially the face.
Best part: J steps on the first roach and Edgar hears it. Just makes me laugh, even before J asks if it was his “auntie”.
"You need to ease up out my face before something bad happen to you"
*Gun whines up*
Too Late!!!

The film’s novelization says The Bug’s name is Kerb. Edgar was the human that The Bug killed. Sadly, The Bug was never given a formal name
It wasn't Edgar, it was Eggar.
The cartoon called him Edgar
So... You're saying that J gave him a Kerb stomp? Nice!
“Interesting job you guys have” so sexy
I've always loved Linda Fiorentino. Easy girl crush there.
Literally
J: I like her resume
4:22 You don't matter. In fact, in a few seconds, you wouldn't even be matter.
That's a "Drop the 🎤 and leave" moment.
Man late 90s early 2000s movies sure loved their trumpets.
I love how in every movie, there's a point where the enemy underestimates J and pays for it. K is the threat to these main villains, but J always gets treated like he doesn't matter.
4:10 My general reaction to other people in everyday life.
- K, where you goin’??
- To git mah gun back.
“Was that you aunty, that must mean thats your uncle then”

“Aww yall know you look alike”

9:23 After all that time, I notice now the bug behind preparing to re-attack them! 😧
Omg. ive watched this movie so many times, how on earth have i never noticed that before.

Probably been through a lot, through worse.
Huge fan of this movie!
Walk in shadow, move in silence, guard against extraterrestrial violence.

@@lastborntv6176 Oh knock it off with that, man. You know what Will did was messed up.

How is CGI better from 20 years ago?
there are like 7 popular youtube videos attempting to answer this exact question.

Never been much of an Elvis fan but that’s a great tune.
Mr tommy lee ...such a bad ass..lol
Great movie

Easily my favorite quote in the film.
There isn't enough bug spray to get rid of this giant Madagascar hissing cockroach but they are a protected species which no one can squish them
I dont think they were actually allowed to squish them in this movie I think they just used sound effects .. I think you can google that actually might find something

It's explained in the movie.

Edgar slapped him like how Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. History does repeat in a similar manner doesn't it?

2:50-3:01 is it just me or this scene similar to Space Jam?
