That is not a mistake. As a KID I remember buying a single 2 way FM wave radio at a garage sale for $2 that was already old the size of a brick . After putting 10 AA batteries and switching the 3 channels I hear what was the local police.I keyed in and they responded back with a strict warning.Long story that was a mistake.

Were the police themselves supposed to be there? Sometimes police use channels, for undercover work, they are not licensed for, so that they will not appear in scanner directories, That could be why the let you off with a warning.
Even the channels for FM childrens walkie talkies police can be on. Some childrens walkie talkies use the 49 Mhz band and police are sometimes where they are not supposed to. I had a friend once with such a walkie ta;lkie and police were there. I think they only reason they only gave hima waming is they were likely not supposed to there. If they did come after him the department might have been fined by the FCC for frequencies they were not licensed for

How far away was he from downtown? If he only jammed signals that entered into his apartment (i.e. not past his apartment walls) is that legal?

Mobile County E911 Director Charlie McNichol told Fox 10 communications were down for a day because of him using the jamming equipment so it went beyond his own apartment

that’s not how jamming works-it sends out signals that overtax other systems to the point they can’t work due to all the incoming interference. he’s saying he was trying to do this to his neighbor but if it jammed the police does that mean it jammed everyone in the vicinity also or did he put specific info in to target police?

@@twilit one of the other articles said the equipment was sold on the black market and
“It was a significant amount of equipment," which was described by district administrator Robert Jackson as “very sophisticated equipment ... specially designed to jam our frequency.”

Sounds like he used on jammer that can be found on the dark web for about $13,000 that jammers. If he used that jammer that includes 401 to 520 Mhz, you guys would have been jammed, as you are on TV Channel 15, not just virtual channel 15. Any TV station on RF channels 14 through 22 woulld have been jammed, including you guys
This expensive jammer with 90 watts output I saw advertised once jams 25-54, 136-174, 401-520, 800-1000, as well as cameras in the 900, 1200, and 2400 bands, drones, and wifi.
At least those watching you on an antenna will be able to tube you in again, though they might have to have their TVs rescan again

He used the wrong jammer. There are jammers designed for 900, 1200, and 2450 Mhz cameras. Jamming cameras is not illegal. unless done for nefarious purposes. These jammers jam Wifi, plus the 900 and 1200 Mhz bands tghat cameras use.
