    I own one of these and it works great. I am using it to run a Nest Doorbell and Nest Learning Thermostat. I have full control and they look totally native in the Apple Home App. Starling are keeping the unit constantly updated in the background but let you know when they have loaded a new bit of firmware. I am very pleased with it so far.

    A follow up video showing it with the latest updates etc would be great! I'm trying to make my home all Homekit, but must admit I have always loved Nest products. The design and features are first class, probably down to former Apple engineers who created the company before Google bought them! I am tempted to get a Nest thermostat, so this would be a must!

      The Starling is great and if anything, is better since we made this video as software updates have made it faster and more compatible.
      I’ve look into hoobs and it seems really powerful, I guess the best comparison would be that hoobs needs lots of manual setup and configuration but starling is almost plug and play so depends how “hands-on” you want to be.

    Got it yesterday and it works well. That said, on someone else's phone in my household (who is linked to my Home account as a resident but not as me (owner), the cameras and thermostats show up but not the data. No connection on either and no temps or ability to control anything. I have enable as many permissions as possible, even adding their accounts to my apple tv's as other users...still no work-y. I have an email into Starling to see why but waiting on that. So, for those of you who have separate icloud accounts and might be guests/residents in other Home accounts, you might have issues. Or do you? Interested to see if anyone else has run into this...

    Great video. Question re: using automations for scheduling. I have 2 Nest battery cameras and the wired Nest doorbell. Google Home does not allow scheduling of cameras, only home and away routines (which is very limited and counterintuitive - e.g., I would like the camera to be active while I'm sleeping at night, however it will be deactivated as my phone is at home, if I use Google's home and away setup). Does Apple HomeKit allow you to set specific schedules for these Google/Nest products, once integrated into HomeKit with Starling Home Hub? Any info would be helpful. I've spent the better part of a day researching how to set this up!

    • @tmbrgndy
      @tmbrgndy Рік тому

      Hi Kevin, the only automations I’m seeing within the home app are relating to sensors e.g if detects this then do that (a notification for example). I’m not seeing anything relating to time of day but then my cameras are wired and not battery.

      I would say (but don’t quote me!) that I can’t see why this wouldnt work with a hot water system as long as that supports nest. The starling will simply see it as another on/off switch that you can interact with.
