Dave was my hubbys mate, back in Wales. He got hubby a good apprentice job, as electrician, but sadly it didnt pay much, and he was supporting his mum and nan, so he had to leave, and became a carpet/ layer. When Dave came to Australia, we met him at the airport, and after his show, invited both of us to the after party🎉We had 3 young children, and had to get back to them, as my parents were looking after them. Dave is such a humble person, and hubby remembers going to his jam sessions, with fond memories, and how Dave showed off, diving from the high board, to impress the girls😂😂
It’s great that the tens of thousands of Dave Edmunds fans from all over the world can see him here, so young, at the start of his musical career. Now in his retirement from the business it’s a wonderful piece to see, perhaps for the 1st time.
Dave Edmunds has always been one of my heroes, since he uses his immense talents to build great pop music. Everything he plays is just meant to sound good and appropriate, and not to impress with speed or even weirdness. He shows that pop is a true art form, as did many others, admittedly, but also that pop songs can be timeless. He, along with Roy Wood and Nick Lowe, kept the spirit alive for a long time, and a lot of their work still sounds great.
Fabulous film!!! Thanks for posting. To see my hero in His ( then ) designated environment was awesome!! I bought 'Baby, I love you' at that time and still treasure it. Thanks.
@William Perri Ah! I seemed to remember a group called Budgie, who I think were a power trio. Couldn't tell you any more, though, and I'm not going to run to Google every 10 seconds!
Dave is a true rockstar and also a studio mastermind...he was very open-minded and diverse...90s was cruel on his types although he practically retired then...he is in a class of his own...always has one foot in the 50s/60s.
First record I ever owned was Dave Edmunds' Crawling From the Wreckage. My musical tastes went on to be punk and metal but I always loved Dave's music. My fave DE songs - Queen of Hearts, Crawling From the Wreckage, Singing the Blues, Louisiana Man, S.O.S, Slipping Away, Steel Claw, Girls Talk. Thanks for the music, Dave. Rock on!!
Been a fan for quite awhile and only now found out that he’s a one man act and doesn’t do shows…. Well i just gained a whole new respect for him and his music
Nationwide that's a blast from the past a interesting insite into how a song is recorded .Dave Edmunds is a multi instrumenlist ,singing ,playing all the instruments himself ,which is no mean feet in its self .A modern day Mike Oldfield who recorded Tubular Bells a 1973 masterpiece.
No one understand how big his talent is. He can play several instruments , he can sing , and he can record it and he can play live. And it's Good! He is one of the greatest ever! ❤😊
I didn’t know he was so talented.

Hardly the start! Remember Love Sculpture?
@@Ndlanding Ok ok !!
So I made a mistake !
But you don’t see many interviews of Dave during Love Sculpture.
@@nicolarsefir Just correcting you, that's all.
@@Ndlanding ok if that’s made you feel good then go for it !
A very talented multi functional musician. Should've been way bigger than he was. What a legend
He was a highly successful & sought after record producer...He was as big as it gets...

Thank you so much for your kind words. Keep rockin'.
absolute genius, should have been huge
dave has brought so many others up on his musical virtuosity and expertise. his repertoire is truly unmatched.
Thank you for posting that! The reporter, in the beginning, kind of reminded me of Eric Idle in The Rutles movie.
god .... This makes a shiver up my spine
I hope that's a compliment...
@@daveedmunds4609Bound to be!
such a star, pity he has retired, seen him live an spoke to him a couple of times, what a "gentleman"
Thank you for your kind comment. I'm alive and well. Keep rockin'.
@@daveedmunds4609How's it going, 'Dave'?
Queen, Budgie, Manic Street Preachers, Rush, Sepultura etc. etc. The list of phenomenal acts that recorded at Rockfield is staggering.
Oasis? 😂
Budgie? Kinda rings a distant bell.
@William Perri Ah! I seemed to remember a group called Budgie, who I think were a power trio. Couldn't tell you any more, though, and I'm not going to run to Google every 10 seconds!
Hawkwind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sabbath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Motorhead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Judas Priest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Boys
Genius!
Was that a young Kingsley at the end?!? I worked at Rockfield twice in the 90s - loved it there...

Lovely to see this in such great quality! The Rockfield documentary was rather lackluster due to the minimal airtime that Dave got.
One heck of a song writer but his lead is impeccable. Go love sculpture
I remember seeing this at the time

❤😊
Actually, many of us do understand how great he is.
this video reminds me of Jeff Lynn. Both of these guys play multi instruments and have more talent in their one pinky finger than most artist of today
So much great music has been recorded at Rockfield - from Queen to Dumptruck to The Stone Roses and everything in-between.
Dave's "Wall of Sound"
Great video. Thank you.
Fantastic !!!
The welsh wizard ❤
Love dave he was gorgeous back then.
Thank you so much. I'm still alive and looking good for an 80-year-old.
@@daveedmunds4609You look great with white hair. Improving with age . . .
@@jacquismith3277Yikes! I was so shy back then. It's completely different now! I don't have white hair, but I admit to some greyness. Haha!
The beggining looks like Eric Idle as the reporter in The Rutles. LOL
A gargantuan talent, in fact, the whole enchilada- sadly past his time now, but forever for the ages…
This video has every stereotype I've ever seen in animated comedy of England.
Animated? Maybe if Ken Dodd's hologram had been in it.
We’ll go another way!
Dave Edmunds was doing this a LONG time before Dave Grohl...
He's older than Dave Grohl, so I should hope so!
I believe that's where Motorhead first recorded.
He’s got this much talent….(holds thumb and finger 1” apart).
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?
