I tried this out after watching ep1, and now I'm addicted! lol Few tip/comments; If you get enough iron you can make Blast Furnaces, they smelt super quickly, and 1 coal does 32 ore. You mentioned enchanting, but I'd avoid it. You get the skill gem for each level, but only the first time you get that level. So if you hit level 30 and then enchant you wouldn't get a gem for level 28, 29, or 30 a second time. I mine all the copper/iron I find even if I want to use the diamond recipe, smelting gives XP after all. Just to brag, my current run I found a Mushroom Island, so I'm going nuts mining under it. haha
Adding on a few more tips: Lapis/redstone are also useful for xp You can craft a shield Ores smelt at double speed in this pack, so you only need 4 coal per 1 stack of ores, or 2 if you make blast furnace Most skill points i got in a run was around 130, and that is with 2 lvls in armor (you get gold on 2nd lvl), fortune, efficiency, night vision and speed. Then, i went to y -57 and worm strip mined (old water bucket trick to get in a 1x1 tunnel) until i had about 2 stacks of diamonds, and finally went to nether, found fairly flat nether wastes, made a quick improvised zombie piglin farm for xp and gold. lowered render distance to 2 for increased spawns, and just grinded for 10ish mins. Would have gotten more, but baby zombie piglin got me while i was crafting :(
More tips! Look for the biomes that are rocky on the surface. They have large quantities of coal and copper. Quite quickly you'll find that copper / coal / gold / diamonds are not the bottle necks, XP is. So some sources of XP you might encounter: fishing, villager trading (build a trading hall), mining, smelting, mpb killing (dangerous obviously). And for anyone coming into this: runs fairly quickly *can* devolve into basically a normal minecraft let's play, especially if you're very careful and you establish a base of operations, but bare in mind that those runs mean you spend hours without upgrades. I'm theorizing that dying early and often after grabbing as many skill points as possible might be the better strategy, time wise atleast. If you have it in you: building a mob farm is a great way to get XP as well, but I personally do prefer villager trading. Also, don't forget about the charcoal recipe. Save your coal.
Idk if it's changed since I 100% but I used area mine a TON, got to deepslate and just instamined giant areas - allowing me to get copius diamonds; got 2000 points in one run with 2 of my friends
22:50 I think the mod only gives you skill points when you hit a *new* level in a run. So if you're at 30 levels, and go down to 20, you'll still only get a skill gem when you hit level 31
Thank you so much for showing us this map, i have been outright addicted since your first episode. Definitely one of the collest ways to play minecraft
Fascinating to see how different the mentality is for this datapack is compared to playing normal. Have a feeling if I play, I'm gonna need to go straight for the armor - those skeletons had me on edge just watching you!
i love this series, really interested in so many skillpoints for next run!! id probably put them in armor but i also don't know all of the stuff you can get
If you want a lot of skill points, I'd suggest hitting up a trial chamber! You can get about 20 skill points per trial chamber! Then if you die, then you can easily spend them and go raid another!
Attempting a sort of 'All Advancements' run seems like the way to go for grinding out the faster skill points. Parrots like jukeboxes, and you'll need one for Allays, too if you find a music disc in a later run. If your "progress" is persistent in this game instance, you'll be able to slowly work your way through the 'two by two' advancement. As for 'Adventuring Time' I don't believe you'll need to try that hard for it, if it keeps being generous with the biomes it drops you in when starting runs. Though I kinda wonder if these purple advancements will give skill points on top of granting vanilla levels? Definitely interested in seeing if/when things get that far along.
Hey Wels, I think (pretty sure) if you throw a diamond to a zombie and it picks it up, it gives you the "Diamonds for you!" Advancement even though the zombie isn't a player. Not sure if that could help you get another skill point :)
I believe it's all the same world, but because the random spawns happen in such a large radius, you'd have to travel hundreds of thousands of blocks to get back to a prior location.
@ thanks for the answer! Hopefully you end up in a situation where you find your old stuff, eventually, because that would be quite an interesting interaction!
I've spent the last two days playing this... it's been enjoyable. But randomly I got to difficulty 10 and am immortal. drowning and lava will not even let me lose a heart. kill @p does not work. its wierd.
Are you ever coming back to Hermitcraft? Why the disappearance again? Two seasons in a row, you’ve started, then vanished. Why start if you don’t mean to participate fully? I’m sure there are others who would be delighted to take your place, and commit fully.

It would make sense in order to avoid cheesing.
Hey Welsknhight, i Just want to say that your videos are making me really happy. This series is really cool. Pls continue it ❤

MILK IS THE HARDEST THING TO CLEAN OUT you’re paying for a new couch buddy
Thank you so much for showing us this map, i have been outright addicted since your first episode. Definitely one of the collest ways to play minecraft
I've had decent luck finding skill points in sunken ships and buried treasure. Not great, but not bad when you get an ocean spawn
Fascinating to see how different the mentality is for this datapack is compared to playing normal. Have a feeling if I play, I'm gonna need to go straight for the armor - those skeletons had me on edge just watching you!
Really liking this series. Always nice to see a Welsknight video.
Yay more welsknight
This series is so great! I downloaded Roguecraft and can't stop playing it!
Glad to see more of this! I've been rather curious about it since I saw a release video a while back
You inspired me to try it! I need more episodes. It’s so fun to play along
glad to see some more minecraft content, been a while! :3
i love this series, really interested in so many skillpoints for next run!! id probably put them in armor but i also don't know all of the stuff you can get
Love roguelike games and am interested in seeing how this goes.
Also nice to see Wels back in the game. :)
really enjoying this series
This is really interesting to see early game mechanics. How it's basically the same each time but also different when you spawn in a different biome
I reckon the Hermits might find this mod pack exciting to try for a season, perhaps you could suggest it in a meeting? Keep up the great work!
I love your videos so much!!! :3
In jungle u could take a parrot❤...
challenge run idea: Make an xp farm and get enough skill points for all the upgrades in run 1
13:57 THE CLIFFS OF INSANITY!
this was pretty cool
Episode 2, all diamond gear. GG!
WELSKNIGHT NEW VIDEO YIPPEEEE

You have a river. Kill salmon for quick food.
Does difficulty effect the type/frequency of mob spawns?
Is everything happening on the same seed? As, in, if you get to build stuff, and die, could you technically get back to it?
I haven't checked the mod, but rogelite means you start a new game each time you die, keeping only a few things you were able to obtain.
@ okay, thanks for the info!
I'm 99% sure that the answer is yes. It only generates the world once and you just get placed randomly within it each run
Is it different world you respawn in, or the same just random place?
This is technically a Roguelite, not a Roguelike, since there is some progression after death.
Oh, please
At this point, just keep it to yourself, the "know it all" type is getting old
I'd argue that roguelites are a subgenre of roguelikes. So all roguelites are also roguelikes, but not vice versa.
This is a fun watch, though a bit rough due to dipping framerate. Was that a recording issue or does the game run poorly for you?
can he not use the copper-coal skill point recipe anymore?
It gives you one point per gem.
The copper gold gives 2 and the diamond gold gives 4.
A second Welsknight video?! :D Woah, this is an amazing streak!! Super excited to see this. :)
woo!!
I've spent the last two days playing this... it's been enjoyable. But randomly I got to difficulty 10 and am immortal. drowning and lava will not even let me lose a heart. kill @p does not work. its wierd.
MINE REDSTONE FOR EXP sorry for shouting
Thank goodness you're ok. Just remember, just tell the hermits to tell us you are ok. Happy to see you again!
First?
You lucky
Nice!!
@Spottedleaf44 im not first, that award goes to @felinityht
