I’m retired. Your story of a conservative savings profile is a common one. Any course of action involves risks. You might be avoiding market risk, but you are taking on other risks like inflation and reinvestment risk.

My wife is willing to work for another 5 years if needed. Are we in good shape? Will we be okay if I begin withdrawing from Social Security when I’m 62 and my wife is 67? Should we hire a financial planner to help us navigate this?

    • @AadhilaEesha

No one likes market risk, but without longer retirement, taking on risk is often a necessary evil to compensate for inflation.

Certainly get a pro to look at your predicament (if you even have one, lol) A second opinion from a comprehensive financial adviser can help you look at more than just your current estimate of cash flow and needs but also longevity risk, outliving your money, tax considerations, legacy planning, healthcare costs, inflation and a myriad of other things you may not be considering when reviewing your current situation

I'm 31 born in London, overweight! I was just depressed but my mind, soul wanted more & I took a risk.
I left everything behind came to California alone with nothing. I have changed my whole life. I have realised sometimes the people you need are also on the same path as you.
I went from 350lbs to 140lbs in 1 year and this is the best I have ever felt in my life.
I had moments where I want to give up but I've come all this way. It kills me and even makes me cry but as a man this is what I need to put myself through this to become I want to be.

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. Just find something you enjoy where you can make money. For me it was cooking. I loved to cooking. Loved busy nights, hot girls, free food, free drink, cool owners. So I did 60 - 70 hour weeks, met great people, had a blast, made a bunch of money and put every cent into a piece of shit home in a real nice area. I then continues to work while fixing place on weekend. After 2 years i had a finished asset. You have to pay your dues 99% of the time. Find something y like and kick the shit out of it and put every cent towards your dreams. Mine was homes. Still is. And dont fkin generalize homes. One of the very few phrases I still keep. Its very very powerful. Almost everyone I know is living a life they rather do something else. How horrifying. Another one is "Treat yourself like your responsible for that person" I remember I used to caretake my grandma from 94 - 98. I would cook for her daily and spend time with her. I do that for me now. That was a revelation. That I could take care of myself like I did others.

A key takeaway is that people often hold themselves back by choosing comfort over the unknown, yet that very unknown is where transformation happens. This mindset shift - from avoiding risk to embracing it - is a profound reminder that everything meaningful in life comes with a level of discomfort and uncertainty. If you don’t take risks, you risk living a life of regret, having never tested your full potential.

Got dumped after 26 years together. Everything here it became so hard for me, I cannot live here anymore, I cannot see any future here anymore so, I’ve decided at almost 50 years old, I am gonna leave all my securities here, my job, the house I live in at the moment , the friends, everything, even my son. Leave the state and start a new life. I know, some problems are gonna come with me, but I am not afraid of anything anymore. Here I feel like an ant in a world full of people. I want a fresh start, against pretty much everyone’s I know thinking. But I feel ready, it comes from my guts l, and I am going to risk it all, proving to myself 1st, that I don’t need anyone (not anymore), to have the life I deserve.

Bro, listen, you look all these motivation videos, where all these other guys telling you, that you should SUFFER every day to get rich, succesful, etc. They telling you, who you need to be to get happy. But all you need to be successful and happy, it's just live your life.. as you want. You shouldn't think that there's something wrong with you.. YOU'RE OK BRO! All people are different, all people have their own history of success, and you don't need to be that "perfect guy" who only works hard to get successful. Just try to find a balance between everything in your life. Life is not a challenge, life is a thing, you live only once, so live that as you want.
