I've been looking for a more guided form of a solo rpg. Thinking this might just be what I've been looking for. Seems like a somewhat more complicated version of a choose your own adventure book.
Check out Legendary Kingdoms if you want another good CYOA RPG, you control a party of 4 characters and go on a adventures over multiple books.
@@DarthP00P00 I've been meaning to look into it more. I think I tried the demo of it some time ago, but I found that some bad dice rolls can lead to a quick TPK.
@@dungeongobboking oh yeah I wouldn't play rules as written, I tweak some stuff and play it like a video game almost. I had town hubs be save points that I could always revert back to if everyone died, abd during combat if someone fell in battle they'd come back with 10% HP afterwards if the battle was won. Few things here and there I tweaked and it made it a better experience. No way I'd start over if some/all party members died. The story is what I'm interested in.
@@DarthP00P00 That's true. I guess at the end of day, the game police aren't going to barge in for you not playing the rules as written haha.
@@DarthP00P00advise caution on Legendary Kingdoms for now. The Kickstarter for book 3 has been very delayed despite them saying the books have been finished for months, without any excuse being given. And now they've just announced a publisher switch. Keep an eye on it, but don't get invested yet.
(From my quick glance over the PDFs I was given, they are good) ☺️
This is a game I think I like and for the price, even if I only play once, it is worth getting. So I did.
So awesome! Once again - based on yer review/play thru, here - i’m gonna also pick up a copy of this game! 😊
This looks cool. The temptation would be strong if they make physical copies available again.
I love your channel and have been a sub for a while. I really like that you don't just stick with just big mainstream games. I already paid for the pdf of this after your overview and might pay to spiral bind it. Looks like a fun time. I know you did some Ker Nethalas sessions and I love how prolific Alex is (Blackoath Entertainment). If you like horror I would encourage you to check out Under Ashen Skies (also from Alex T). Very different. Thanks again for all you do!
Ashen Skies is cool! :) Thanks.
very nice balance between free play and choose your own adventure type, gotta try it for myself
Spent 45mins printing the whole thing on my Epson Ecotank. Can't wait to try it later but I'd still love a proper physical copy.
love this channel and want more videos like this subbing RN! edit: And smackin that bell!
I've got hundreds of videos of games like this! :) Especially check out the solo rpg playlist.
@@TheDungeonDive Will Do!
I wonder if the physical copy is unavailable due to that parchement/coffee stain type of paper stock? The white and gray text boxes against that paper stock is refreshing to see. It looks great. This looks really moody indeed, Daniel. Did you say if the playing cards are a part of the game? Or is that a deck you already own? Great video. Thanks as always, Daniel.
That’s a deck I’ve owned for a long time.
Totoro can't wait for the new physical version. Looks way better than Storymasters lol.
It's pretty cool. I dig it.
Awesome game! Just got it on DTRPG! :D
Some really great narratives. Nice one!
thanks for the video on an interesting game - I like the opposed-roll test system and the "deeper" choose your adventure system - the writer really put a lot of time and thought into this; tempted to try it now
The dice system is very cool.
Looks incredible. The playing cards are also perfect for the vibe.
I'm surprised you haven't covered Tin Realm yet, I got my copy in the UK about 2 weeks ago.
Can’t just jump to new things all the time. I have a list I’m working through. :)
This looks like a fun game thanks for the review
Hate that I'm ALWAYS late to the party. Every time you post a physical game that looks cool, only pdf's are avaliable.
It's very odd. I just ordered it about a month ago. Not sure why they removed the physical version from DriveThru.
Stay tuned! :)
@@TheDungeonDive Delve tell me in my channel to upgrade the game to 2 Edition
Wish this was still available in print.
so weird that it's not! I just ordered it about a month ago.
So, quick question, just starting my character and I'm not seeing a "starting armor" table. did I miss something or is armor only something you get as a loot item?
You will find armor.
How do i resolve if l am grappled [4]? When am i free again? Is it after 4 turns or 4 attacks from an enemy?
Not sure. Not really a rules guy, and don't have the game handy, nor the time to answer rules questions. I'd probably ask rules questions on the game's DriveThru page so the designer sees them and gives a definitive answer!
I think this would be fun! Similar to What lies Beneath its called with choices similar to this. Nice artwork. The size of the book makes it easy to read. Is there an overall objective? What happens when you finish off the last boss? The problem with games of this type is that eventually you would know what happens next because the choices are limited, I think.
But anyways always good to see what is out there. Thanks for the video!
When you finish the last boss, you win.
@@TheDungeonDive Oh! I was expecting something more like a unique treasure!
Hey there mate. Did you change your Intro? Loved the old one :(
I have 8 or so that I've been cycling through over the last 3-4 years, with different images and jingles. I guess you just haven't noticed, LOL! ;)
This one uses the AMAZING art from Waclaw Traier, the designer of one of my favorite games - DOOM PILGRIM - which I purchased to use on the channel and for a t-shirt design. It's amazing - one of my favorite original pieces of fantasy art. Nothing to be sad about! Embrace the new, enjoy the change, love the AMAZING art by one of the greatest fantasy artists working today!
Looks pretty cool! Do the bosses get harder as you get to higher levels?
Not sure. Only made it to one boss.
