    Great job...... these old mowers are well worth saving.
    These later machines with the 98cc Qualcast engine and Dellorto carburettor seem to lack the overall character of the early machines with the 75cc Suffolk engine.
    I have played around with a couple of these later machines that have had bad engines, and retro-fitted the old Suffolk unit on them.... it bolts straight on !!!
    I had nine of these old girls at one point a few years ago, my Mrs was doing her nut !!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. We'll have to try and get our hands on one of the earlier machines with a Suffolk engine.

    No wonder they made later models with a removable cassette.

    Great video! Do you have to line/grease the chain or does the crankcase oil somehow lube it? Thanks

    • @snazzymowers1409
      @snazzymowers1409  3 роки тому

      Hi, the chains are usually covered in thick grease, so if installing a new chain it needs greasing. However, the grease lasts a long time so if the chain isn't being replaced we either put oil on it if it feels a bit dry, or if its still quite greasy and runs freely we just leave it. Thanks for watching

    I have got a four year-old Qualcast cartridge 14 inch mower and have had nothing but problems with it. my lawnmower repair man said they are poorly made. It’s almost ready to be thrown away what is happening now is everything else is working or fixed… replaced carburettor fixed the spark plug fixed broken belts et cetera et cetera the latest problem is the pink cogs seem to melt due to something sticking in the mechanism and everything gets too hot, doesn’t matter if it’s the scarifier cartridge or the cylinder blades I’ve got no idea?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @snazzymowers1409
      @snazzymowers1409  Місяць тому

      Sorry, we've never had a cartridge mower, possibly a bearing or something has gone? We tend to try to stay away from the cylinder mowers as they're often frustrating to work on and hard to sell on

      @@snazzymowers1409 my lawnmower man has recommended the new cobra fortis, I’ve I’ve gone electric and the cartridge system is much more robust. The whole mower seems to be fantastic well-made and less expensive than Allet Atco etc. As Cobra success starts to sink in hopefully it will cause an improvement in the manufacture quality.

      Hi, yes we probably should have used some sort of grease on the screws, we decided not to repaint it as it wasn't in too bad condition but maybe it should have had a lick of paint. Thanks for watching

    Great job, they look so much better like that than when they have been fully repainted. I have just bought a 30s and a 35s and an Atco commodore B17 to play with. I have a question, do you know the length of the pull cord?

    • @snazzymowers1409
      @snazzymowers1409  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for watching the video. Sorry I do not know the length of the pull cord. We have quite a long role of it so just fully wrapped the pulley and left a little to put the handle on.

      Hi, we screwed it in a bit and then started it, it ran a bit better so we kept adjusting it that way until it ran well, it was a bit of a trial and error job. Thanks for watching.

    Hi, I recently picked up the same model with the oil fill and drain on the back. How do I gauge the fill mark as mine doesn’t have a dipstick as far as I can tell? Thanks

    • @snazzymowers1409
      @snazzymowers1409  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, I can't quite remember the oil/dipstick arrangement on this mower, but usually on mowers without a dipstick you just fill the oil to the top of the fill hole if there is no fill line.
