Four additional points (sorry for the length):
1) The fact that some forms of the virus can be in your system for decades - without your knowledge - means that there is little value to blaming a current or recent partner for causing you to have the virus.
Having HPV does not suggest that a partner has been unfaithful.
2) Many people are not aware that oral HPV can be transmitted via kissing where the inside of a persons mouth - like the tounge - comes in contact with the inside of a partners mouth - aka "French Kissing" among other things.
Contact with another person's genitalia is not needed to transmit the virus.
3) It is believed that some strains of HPV never clear an infected persons body. Cancer causing strains - like HPV 16 and HPV 18 - are believed to stay in an infected person's body forever, and may be transmitted even if that person has no symptoms.
4) On a positive note : I'm having trouble Googling the statistics, so I could be wrong, but I believe that the odds of having high-risk HPV develop into warts or cancer are fairly low.
With education, protection and communication - especially with partners - someone known to have HPV can have a normal life.

Amazing. I had no idea that HPV infects tens of millions. Two questions, Professor Dave:
1. What is the mechanism by which HPV "simply goes away on its own?" Does the human immune system destroy it?
2. If HPV tailors so specifically to different cells types (e.g., skin layers, mucosal cells, etc.) does a single vaccine make you more immune to all of those different types of HPVs? Perhaps the HPV vaccine contains inoculations against many forms of HPV, like the flu shot?

Ohhh my good thank you for this coment. Before 2 months ago i have take out one poypus from uterus. I have take today the result of biopsy and they told me i have HPV they told me that i have take i from the sexual relation. I feel my self very dirty. I am afraid to becouse thay take me the biopsy from my cervic to see what kinde it is. I have a smoll child and he has need for me. I can't die from somthing like this. 😥 i hate my self my body. @@Fe0603 they did not tell me anything other than that it was high risk type. I have no way of tracing it because a man apparently can't be tested for it. I allowed a long time to pass for a gyn appointment prior to last year, when I found out. I will be going to appointment again next month. I do know the gyn said any type of possible cancer is always very slow to develop, and that this cervical type, if it did develop into something, is preventable if caught early.
If I had kids, I would definitely get them vaccinated.

Don't do it!!!
The vaccine does not stop them from getting it and spreading it to others like many other vaccines. Plus there are over 100 types of hpv and the vaccine only covers less than 5. I got the vaccine and I could say more, but I wish you and your future children the best 🙏🏾

In Sweden all gets vaccin against HPV for free. My daughter has got it for free in school. So happy I do not live in America and have to pay for the vaccin.

If I go to the doctor it cost me 30$. Every child under 18 in Sweden has free prescription medicines. And i will have free medicines for a year after i have reached "high cost protection limit" and that is 235$.
When I had to operate my appendix I was in the hospital for 2 days and it did cost me 30$.

Can somebody please answer this. Can one strain of HPV eventually lead to another strain? For instance, if I have filiform (facial) warts, is there a possibility that this specific strain could mutate into another form of HPV?

no, warts are warts, your wrist one proberly not HPV related but determitious related by touching some other item or somebodies viral infected hand such as herpes. see a Dr and get it frozen burn off. You can say the same for feet verokas.

I've had a plantar wart under my foot for about a year now. A portion of the wart died, so it's smaller now, but it's still hanging on by a thread. I've been applying the salicylic acid for a whole year now.

Hi, thank you so much for this video! It is beyond helpful. I am not sure if you answer questions. If you do, I was just diagnosed with HPV E6/E7 w abnormal cells, asc-us. I have no warts on my vagina just my hands, same for him. He has one on his finger, it comes and goes.
I have only had one partner my entire life, he says the same. We have been together for 21yrs. He said he has only had sex with me. I know for sure he’s my only partner. He’s also has never had warts on his penis.
This doesn’t seem to add up to me, HPV high risk is only sexually transmitted. If that’s the case then he has to be lying correct? There can be small lesions on a penis that can’t be seen through the naked eye, with sex high risk hpv can be transmitted? My understanding is hand warts can’t transmit high risk HPV?

I do not believe the "science" community is telling the public exactly the truth. Please do not assume your partner is or has cheated unless you found out another reason. My guess is that this virus is a man made product of combining the naturally existing viruses out there in animals to a biologically engineered virus. I mean, if there is a something pharma or other medical pros can sell as the cure, and to virtually all people, then it means big money! This does not mean you should skip being continually checked via pap smear or doctor- I'm simply saying that there is a lot to the origin that doesn't add up!

It doesn’t prevent you from getting it. There are over 100 types of hpv that the vaccine doesn’t even cover. In the 7th grade why is one even engaging in any kind of behavior to get hpv? If you’re have sex you’re going to get hpv it’s inevitable. Men don’t even get tested for it so it’s likely to be spread.
