Mona is right. When you're in labor, if the baby's heart rate keeps dropping, it's losing oxygen. They most likely will do a c-sect to deliver the baby quick. Losing oxygen is scary b/c they can have cerebral palsy or some other brain injury. I opted for a midwife nurse b/c I knew I wanted a natural birth and the nurse would help. The Dr. only comes in once the baby's head is out.

I was front and center when my baby mama had our son. I saw everything. I actually told the dr and they let me be in front of the sheet and really had free range in the OR. Granted I am a DVM and kinda flexed that so the dr allowed me to be scrubbed in 😂🤷🏾♂️

Had to chime in on the Beyonce releasing her movie in Israel thing. I don’t feel any kind of way about it tbh and I’m not the biggest Beyonce fan. How often do we tell celebrities to shut up when it comes to serious issues? We’ve been making fun of Ja Rule for DECADES for calling into TRL after 9/11. There’s only one reason for celebrities to speak out and it’s to raise awareness and no one needs their awareness raised about the Israel/Hamas conflict. It’s front page news everyday.
Folks get to decide if they wanna support someone based on their politics (and her performance in Saudi Arabia would’ve been a good time for any gay person to stop messing with her) or not but I feel it’s a bit “sensitive” of some folks to withdraw support because a celebrity is not as passionate about something as you personally are. I experienced the same thing during labor in June. My son’s heart rate continually decreased due to the medications used to induce my labor. The labor team and my mom (also a nurse), thankfully, decided to do the emergency c section to save his life. You really need close family with you as black women to advocate for your health and that of your unborn child’s. Our mortality rate during labor is crazy.

The story was so traumatizing… I’m so sorry this happened to you! Phelps… Encourage you to think just a little bit more before you speak because if Mona wasn’t asking you to clarify, you just sound very insensitive and almost didn’t go with the conversation as a whole. conversations like this needs to continue to be had and black voices need to be heard so that things can actually be done about this messed up healthcare system.
