I made a similar thing in trading view, it's just the Bollinger band width divided by the Keltner channel width, public indicator - Bollinger Band/Keltner Channel Width Ratio. I found it useful to shade areas of volatility extremes depending on the ordering of short term EMAs to indicate the short term trend characteristics of the area of interest. Gives some idea if a resolution will be counter trend or not, as with everything not always accurate but helps to some extent.
Thanks Garrett. I find this very elegant and it replaces a few other measures. I'm going to work it into a scan and will share it in the inside access group.
I had problem comprehending trading in general. I tried watching other UA-cam trading channels, but they made the concepts more complicated. I was almost giving up until when i discovered content and explain everything in detail. The videos are easy to Follow
I've been making a lot of looses trying to make profit trading. I thought trading on a demo account is just like trading the real market. Can anyone help me out or at least advise me on what to do?
Trading on a demo account can definitely feel similar to the real market, but there are some differences. It's important to remember that trading involves risks and it's normal to face looses sometimes. One piece of advice is to start small and gradually increase your investments as you gain more experience and confidence. It might also be helpful to seek guidance from experienced traders or do some research on different trading strategies
@@MatthewRiggs-h3s No, very different to me. There're stoppage, leakage, overnight fees that didn't appear on demo; and your broker/exchange screws you. Just last night, my SL was reset by somebody else.
I remember John Carter did a video about this TTM Squeeze indicator for SMB Options, it must still be on SMB's YT channel. Is it as accurate on intraday timeframes? (2min/5min/10Min) Awesome video as always from Garrett!
Basicly i think it detects accumulation period as part of the "accumulation-->mark up--> distribution-->mark down-->accumulation-cycle""?. There also exist specific indicators for this.. There are also volatility index indicators.... I am going to check this all out🤔🤔🤔
Hello Garrett: Thank you for responding to my comment on "The overlooked indicator...". I am an 82 y.o. expat residing in Thailand and follow you as an SMB subscriber. Thank you so much for your excellent and informative tutorials. Your presentations are always offered with amazing clarity which makes it easy on my 82 year old mass of gray matter! I use ToS as my trading platform and am unable to utilize some of the SMB proprietary indicators you demonstrate. As an alternative, I am using the MACD2Lines you previously recommended in conjunction with the TTM_Squeeze indicator. I use the MACD for confirmation of an impending breakout from the squeeze and it usually gives a slightly early but reliable crossover signal, (1 bar) in advance of the actual breakout from the squeeze. I attempted to include here a screen shot taken from my ToS platform on December 11th that shows my set up but this platform did not accept the screen shot. Again, thanks for your terrific tutorials which are very much appreciated! Sincerely, William
Hey Garret, I tried plotting the TTM squeeze on ToS, but the plot shows rounded hills instead of the bars with the dots. Can you share your plot settings for histogram, VolComp, and SqueezeAlert settings if possible?
Hi Garrett, how do you scan for these kinds of opportunities? I know everyone looks at TSLA daily but how did SMCI get on your radar? Great video. TTM stands for for trade the market according to John Carter
Does Bollinger's bands indicator gives mostly the same information, maybe less precise? I just don't like to overfill my charts with too many indicators. Thank you for the video.
I use TTM Squeeze in combination with multiple EMAs. 8, 21, 34, 55, 89. When those EMAs are stacks then you know it’s go time. That was back in 2020 when stocks were constantly having explosive moves. Haven’t really used it lately but if we start another bull run then I might.
I have got to view this video a few more times. I listened this first time while I was driving. You did not mention another possible scenario that TSLA may also be putting in a major long term timeframe double top as well….
@@garrettdrinon Yes Sir you did say that. I greatly appreciate you posting this video, all the SMB videos and helping me to learn more. This kind of support is helping my trading even though I work full time at a non trading job. I am listening to these videos multiple times.
@garrettdrinon awesome as always. Is there a way to filter stocks that present this potential or is the only way to scan for breakouts and keep looking at the chart individually? Thanks once again
it’s measuring a very diffeeent dynamic - but there will be some correlation neither MACD nor RSI can alert a certain level of compression MACD there’s no threshold for extension RSI is all about avg up days vs average down days and how many in a single direction, not about volatility expansion
I wonder how much of this can be proxied by just measuring level of clustering of MAs over a period of time, because this is much simpler both to measure and understand.
My head is spinning, is there particular TTM indicator on tradingview cuz there is so many? Also if you don't mind sharing the other indicator, sorry I am newbie.
i think the first one on tradingview looks good custom indicators are for Inside Access members - but i did provide in the video everything someone would need in order to build it
the standard deviation is with a simple average when people use a bollinger band they are extending this standard deviation from a moving avg of price, in which case i like the exponential, same for keltner
At the end of the day, you need a catalyst to get a really big move out of the squeeze. Appreciate the video, but this indicator is no more valuable than the Squeeze indicator itself until that catalyst, news or technical, happens.

If you can, then get a professional to trade for you i think that way your assets are more secure

In TOS you can setup a ttm scan for squeezes, then just watch the watchlist
I use Keltner Channel with a shift (multiplier) of 1 - with 8EMA
wow this TTM is like a better RSI indicator
