- www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE RATE & SUBSCRIBE - I trekked up to Virginia and hunted down the locations for the classic comedy. Amazing how things change after 2 decades. Enjoy !
This is one of the greatest movies ever made.
At least comedy wise.
Along with The End another classic dark comedy.
Thanks! I did tell my dad thank you from you~
The shower does work, but I don't think it was working when we bought the house. It's actually not in the same location as it was in the movie. We decided to build a guest house since a lot of family tends to visit us in the summer, but we wanted to keep the shower. So...we just moved it a little closer to the dock!
The dock also was rebuilt and is closer to the house than it was in the movie, but we didn't build that. I think the past owners did.
"I'm Sailing!!"
I named my beta fish, Gill, from that movie. He lived over two years, RIP Gill!
One of the best movies ever! Thanks Adam!
This video is great! I practically grew up at Smith Mountain Lake. My Grandfather was on his boat and watched the filming of the party outside the house. The Game Wardens had a perimeter set up on the water around the house so boaters wouldn't get too close. I've been by this house on a boat many times since then.
Man you are GOOD! This is one of my all time favorite movies and I so enjoyed seeing these locations. (I had to go back and watch it twice). For you to go to the effort of switching back and forth from the movie to the shots you filmed was SO good!. I could have watched this for an hour but I'm glad for what you gave us. Thanks. (I wish I could afford to donate but I can't).
OMG I have to send this to my dad, we LOVE this movie, and quote it all the time!
I love this movie. It's really sad to see things crumbling like that. Where there was once such happiness just now seems so gloomy and sad, and everyone's moved on.
Me too. Made me feel like crying. Looked like a beautiful store/neighborhood, one I'd live to live in.
Yeah looked like it had already been abandoned for awhile by 2012. Probably closed down later in the 90s or early 2000s. Looked so small town idyllic in the movie
The stores in the movie were not made just for the movie. They were actual stores. However, a bridge was built connecting Franklin County (where the house is) and Bedford County (the county next to it.) This provided a faster way for people to travel between the two counties than the road that the stores are on, and the road where the stores are was was blocked off at the end and left to decay. It's so sad =(
AT 6:37, one of the funniests moments with Richard Dreyfuss. Bob (Bill Murray) drove him to the breaking point while he was on vacation with his family- A nurse tells him-"Take a vacation". he replies- IM ON VACATION. One of the best movies ever.
“In my office you can call me Bob, in my home I’d like you to call me Dr. Marvin”
"Is this corn hand-shucked?"
I just LOVE these location videos! I recently watched What About Bob and had to come back and watch this one again! :)
You're right! The town was closed off when a bridge was built, connecting Franklin and Bedford counties. Now, the nearest shopping center is Westlake, which is located in Hardy. It's about ten minutes from the house itself, but was built a while after the "town" had shut down.
Lol that's my dog I live right up the street from there my dog made the internet
I live about a half hour from these locations. Cool to see you were here in the summer and I had found the locations and taken photos in January of the same year.
The house that was in the movie is accessible from the water, and feel free to take a look and take some pictures and videos from there. However, my parents (the owners) aren't exactly thrilled when people come over and ask for tours. In the end, it's a private residence, and they wouldn't like people to put videos up about it. (From the water, it's fine to take videos, though!)
(cont.)
I highly doubt this
PKEmi - are your folk still in the house? We hope to drive over for mothers day and hope to kayak around the lake to find it
One of my favorite movies.. I've watched that movie around 10 Times already.. And you know wat?? I may watch it again tonite while having dinner.. Thanks so much!!.. Human Glue!! Hehehe!!..
Looks like a great place to take a vacation... A VACATION FROM MY PROBLEMS!
Omg, how am I JUST seeing this?! Bob is one of my favourite films ever, and I wish I could’ve joined you on the filming locations tour! How fun to see those places in real life! 🙂
It is such a pity that many things have changed since then.
Moneta is a dilapidated nightmare.
@@EllieCollie You would have thought the film would have started a CULT, especially among those in the psychotherapy community. Where are all the conventions for people to meet at this very place?
this town was already abondoned. the film crew chose it for that reason. they painted and landscaped the area and after they left the earth took it all back
I still remember years ago when there was still video stores, my sister had a sleepover with friends and they rented this film. Funny film that really holds up well over the years. The actor that played the kid in this film is a lawyer now, he said people still ask him about this film.
Does he get called "Siggy" as a nickname lol?
One of my favorite movies. . . sad to see the 'town' pretty much abandoned.
I was just watching What About Bob? a couple of days ago...and I was wondering while watching it if you had made a video about the movie's filming locations. You didn't disappoint!
It's really sad to see how far gone that general store and the surrounding buildings are. It really looks like nobody has touched them since the movie was filmed over 20 years ago. In the movie, it looked like they really were in the bustling downtown area of a resort town...but in reality, it's just a couple of buildings out in the middle of nowhere.
As for the house, they actually filmed the real interior of the house, rather than using a set like they often do for interior shots. There are pictures of the inside of the house up on the internet, and it doesn't look all that different from how it looked in the movie.
"pile it high and deep"
"I'm kinda worried because I haven't figured out how to get food yet."
I am so grateful and glad that you shared this. I really enjoyed your copy and examples of each shot.
The abandoned town is in Bedford, but the house is in the county next door (Franklin County).
I was in the area today and decided to take a look at the house. The house is at the dead end of the road and is pretty hard to see from the road through the trees. I didn't feel right to try to get closer and drive down the driveway for a better look. So it was a little disappointing, but still fun.
One of the greatest movies ever.... Thanks for visiting and giving us the awesome movie flashback
Wow! So hard to believe some of locations are the same as in the movie. Great video!
I wish someone would revive the place.
and have Bob and Leo working the counter
It'd be fun to see a sequel to this film. Why not? There making sequels to a lot of films from the 80s and 90s. Maybe an idea could be that now bob is the psychiatrist and he has a patient more annoying than he was all those years ago. At the end of the film it did say bob became a psychiatrist. If there was a petition to make a sequel to what about bob, I would definitely sign it.
@@jamesamick2945 well maybe. Bill and Richard didn’t get along at all during the filming of the original movie. Hated each other but Richard recently said he’s forgiven Bill
@@djentyman4002Of course he did. Life is too short to be mad a long time.
I'm watching this right now :-)
"You think he's gone?!? He's not gone! He's *never* gone!"
The only place I know of in reality that still resembles a movie set would be Bell Buckle, Tennessee. I'm blessed to live close enough to visit on occasion and experience that nostalgic atmosphere. It truly is a gem. Have you ever been there? Might make a cute video. I'm grateful that people take time to preserve nostalgia.
Another great job Adam.Looks like some of the buildings have seen better days.
Thank you thank you thank you!!😅😅😅😅😅 I just watched this movie AGAIN as I've been for years since it came out. My favorite movie of ALL TIME. This is 1 movie that will have you crying with laughter and not 1 bit of any disgusting suggestive content. The ONLY cussing was bc of the Tourettes scene. Idk what inspired you to do this and Ii see you habe others but Im impressed and i thank you for making my day!!😀😀😀
Great movie. Love the diving scene. Also love it when bob sleepsover lol
It's such a relief to know that the house wasn't actually destroyed in the explosion!
This is great...loved it !!!!! One of my fave movies!! Your vids are awesome....really enjoy them...with personality!
Brings me back good memories of me growing up in the 2000s watching this. Thank you Addam

Loved the movie " What About Bob?" it's one of my favorites thanks for the video!
Man thank you so much for taking the time and effort in making these great videos. Keep up the great work
Looks so different. Faded. Time plays hell .
This video is how I found your videos. Always my favorite. Such a great job!
From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU for making this video! That was so great and interesting!
Isnt it sad... to see a quaint little place like that in the movie and think. Wow that would be a great little place to live. So sweet, so small, lively... Then you get the reality that it was/is a dying little town that no one really gives a care about anymore :(
well, you did it again adam. Another great video. LUV U!!!!!!! And thanks for uploading
This was fun! Such an awesome film. Thanks for sharing.
CLASSIC! Good job!
THANK YOU ADAM,This is In my TOP 3 of all time..This is a word for word movie in my house...YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!
Was wondering when we were going to get another movie location tour. This movie was one of my favorites growing up and it was nice to see.
Man it's been ages since I've seen this movie. I always thought at least establishment shots were actually done at Lake Winnepesaukee but the whole thing was Virginia. Bummer.
Absolutely incredible video! Extremely well done, classic adamthewoo entertainment. Great job once again man!
Definitely do so. It's so hilarious. Bill Murray is a must see!
Been binge watching your shows and totally subscribed while laughing my ass off lol.
OMG - Thank you soooo much for uploading and sharing this with us. I love that movie, and can't keep believe they allowed that treasured place to become so neglected! This movie brought wonderful memories. Also, next time you go on a road trip, take me with you, lol =P Thanks again! =D
I live and grew up on lake Winnipesaukee.. It's funny how beautiful it is here, and more than a few films have used the name.. But never film here, I'm fine with it, as it's grown increasingly more crowded here as I've got ton older.. But for such a picturesque area.. It's underutilized.
The guy with the dog? That was my dad. ^^
Wow, great video Adam. I'm glad you were able to go on those people's property to shows us around.
I forgot about that movie. Thanks Adam. Good work.
That's crazy the shower outside is still there after all these years!
This is freaking sick!
Great video! One of my family's most favorite movies!!
You are awesome at what you do, Adam!!
:)
Bonnie Belle He was awesome but he lost his edge out in Hollywood.
The Elks Home has an awesome display every Christmas of lights :)
KEEP It up Adam love watching u go to all these filming locations
Yeah, they built the mockup on the same lake shore, not far from the actual house. The townspeople showed up to watch the explosion. There were even people watching from boats on the lake.
I gave a copy of this to my psychiatrist today He reminds of the doctor in this movie lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
xD Indeed, but a lot of people do it anyway. It we're on the dock, they also like to point at us, haha!
Come to Jamestown ca, so many movies n TV shows were filmed here from green Akers to petticoat junction the famous 3 girls bathing in the water tower I've been in that tower but back 2 the future 3 & just a endless list of western's little house on the prairie. I think u would love it.
That was a really good movie lol I think it's ironic how the shop is in a state of total disrepair but all the other buildings have been so well preserved they're essentially identical to what they were. I'm also astonished the shop was let go like that. They could be generating all kinds of tourism revenue$!
3:18 Look at the two cracks on the wooden support beam from movie and now the same thing amazing.
I never watched the movie, thanks to that video I finally did, I loved it!
I found your videos today and really enjoy them. Love looking at old filming locations... between your videos and one other on person that i have found on UA-cam 'Herve Attia Filming Locations' one is able to keep fully satisfied. The cool things is that several of both your videos are of the same locations :) Keep up the great work
bone-shaking thespianism from Adam the Woo! I ♥ What About Bob too!
Happy Birthday adam the woo!
Amazing
There's my van over there just chillin....ha ha love it. Your videos always make me laugh. Also really like how you integrate the movie in the video. Look forward to more.
It is near Roanoke, in Bedford County
Its sad to see that town is now shut down, but it will live on in the movie.great video Adam, enjoyed it. :-)
Awesome movie.
Jeez, 20 years can really wreak havoc on a building. Now i feel old and decrepit lol
Not all of them! xD The owners are my mom and dad, and there are three daughters - myself, who is in college most of the year, and I have two younger sisters.
Great work Adam. You've done some of my favorite movies. Keep it up!
Dude, you came down to Virginia?!? I watch your videos, and live at the house where the movie was filmed! That's my house! If there was a purple BMW under the carport on the structure on the left, it would have meant I was home from work. I'm a big fan of yours!
❤😂😅 my all time favorite comedy movie ever
This video is so awesome! I still love that movie and to see the filming locations and the way you put it together is just something i would never thought i would see. I honestly thought they filmed in new hampshire. Haha great video pal!
haha funny Movie.. Murray is great as always! THANKS ADAM!
I was at a cookout on Saturday and met a dude named Bob who was wearing a Don't Hassle Me, I'm Local shirt.
the What About Bob house is my absolute dream house. i don't think i could possibly be happier anywhere else. its just such a perfect little house, on a perfect little mountain lake. what more could a man ask for? Of course i'm also probably jaded by the charm of the movie
Excellent ! Thanks......
I like what you do with your videos man. This is interesting.
Thanks 😊
I never paid any attention to the fact that the filming location is the Elks National Home in Bedford, VA.
Gimme gimme gimme i need i need i need!
