I thought the same stones on the foundation would be used. Here in France...they have real stone houses...and they are beautiful. The use of rough stones... I actually see people in Ghana from the U.S.A building proper real estate mud homes. It needs to be taught in Schools.
It's interesting to know that France uses rough stones ... 😍 Here, stones that will be used in foundations are quite different from the ones that will be used on the walls. The foot is also different. Eventually the walls will be decorated and given a nice finishing...
The west was like that once. It means that more hustling cities are needed. Its not just African....the whole world had thatch roof once. Please maintain the old technology because no one deserves to be homeless...as much western people are homeless these day as they only know the money making technologies.
You've brought in a very important point and it's great to learn that once upon a time, the whole world once had a thatched roof. Others used to live in caves but with technology, we are developing modern houses today. I also believe humanity deserves decent housing as it is part of the basic needs which include food, shelter/housing and education
I can't agree with you more, old housing also plays a vital role in making sure that people still have a roof up above them. That's why we still have them up until now....
Oh my! With inflation, everything has skyrocketed. Then again it depends with the size and type of house you need, number of rooms you want....so on average, by the time the house my dad is building is complete, we will be looking at roughly Ksh 5M....by the time it's complete...
One foundation stone in Kenya on average costs Ksh 48 to Ksh 50 per foot. A track of building stones will cost you on average, Ksh 25000 to 30,000 (around $190) at the moment. The size of your house will however determine the number of tracks you may need.
Thats a great idea, and in fact we have people who have kept the original designs of the old huts and they are beautiful...but in building, I believe you choose what serves your purpose
I totally understand where you are coming from, but for me, I look at it differently. The only borrowed foreign idea in this house is the design, but every other thing is locally sourced, making this project as local as it can get. The stones, sand, cement, wood, labour or workmanship including the masons are local people, the windows are all locally sourced. We still maintained our original and made it our own way. 95%of the concept is ours. Here we say we have Kenyanized it 😅
Right! But mud makes bricks also and those stones come from rough stones. They are improving on it in parts of Western Africa. I would definitely love a house with rough stine instead of the modern way. If there isn't enough diversity ...countries will follow the west into homelessness and cruminal activities.
@@sharonatieno6880 Africa had so much potential and isn't tapping into it. People need to be fed and homes built everywhere in the world. If Africa teaches the world its technology instead of seeking to lose it ...the world will go under because many don't have a home due to high cost of living in the west. Give us something...the world needs it.

What was the total cost of construction in Kenyan currency

How much is total cost of stones?

It's not linton it is lintel
Locally we say lintol but I understand it's also called lintel 😂
Why can't you "modernize" the African village by improving on the mud hut architecture? Must every "civilization" be Eurocentric?
Thats a great idea, and in fact we have people who have kept the original designs of the old huts and they are beautiful...but in building, I believe you choose what serves your purpose
A very good question.
