I've been a Skylar Grey fan for 6 years now and can't see myself ever not being one. This kind of voice and writing talent doesn't come along very often, and she effortlessly showcases that in every performance. This is beautiful.
Mick Funny I Disagree with you there fella the lady has a wonderful voice and her image doesn't change what I think about the song. I don't normally like women with tattoos but she looks nice.
She also writes these songs. She is an incredible talent. As a songwriter myself, I understand it just takes something different to come up with lyrics and melody like this.
I've been listening to this song almost everyday. For me, this is not just a song, but a story, a scream, and a cry. I understood her from the words of the song but i felt it through her voice and it brought comfort. She becomes more beautiful every time she sings. You can feel her passion in every word she sings in this beautiful song. Her tattoo's are not just for art, but an expression and a message of what she feels but is misunderstood. She wants to express herself and be appreciated for her faithfulness to her craft. I have been there, but in a way, as i was getting older and more mature, i accepted that the world is "unfair" and by the end of the day, you dont really need somebody or someone. You need to love yourself first and give it to others without conditions. I treated my craft like my children, i will give it all the love that i can give and wouldnt really expect anything in return. Thank you for a very beautiful song. In a way, i gave up my love for writing a long time ago and forgot to express myself through words in exchange for a more stable livelihood. One thing i understand in this lifetime though, what made humanity survive, be stronger, and prosper is because of the narratives and the story and songs that keep us inspired and hopeful. *my apologies for some wrong grammar, english is not my first language.
Just a naturally wonderful voice. It's like she's not even trying but sounds so pure and real. Someone who truly feels the song as opposed to someone who tries to make it sound good.
While RiRi is AMAZING, very few people know the truth behind this song and the first version. @@nik62esCodependency is often used to describe the kind of relationship between addicts and their partners. The addict feeds their addictive nature by sucking up everything around them and the partner feels fulfilled as a provider. Not healthy but what makes Skylar’s song so beautiful to me is her defiant and headstrong acceptance of her fate and how she finds redemption in that. She basically turns conventional wisdom on its head. Oddly, Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” is the only other song I can think of that makes a similar personal statement but Skylar’s is much more stark. And beautiful in a very sad but strangely comforting way.
For me SKYLAR put soul into the song to the point where you could feel the pain behind the lyrics as well the music. Rihanna on the other hand showcased the frustration and anger stemming from the hurt. Both beautiful versions of the song that touched me in different ways.

@@gmandersonjr 🤔 Huh? IDK what u meant by ur comment about ‘pain’. To me it’s a really well done 👍 performance by Skylar Grey and this beautiful song! I don’t feel like it’s intended to evoke the feelings that you eluded to, but perhaps it’s just my own interpretation.
@@gmandersonjr That’s definitely something you can honestly relate to then - it must have been difficult, and sad 😢 to see what you did. And, yes, it can usually be seen/heard in someone’s voice when they’ve been thru some type of emotional trauma or pain - but it’s also rather sad in a way that it’s one of the reasons WHY they are so good. Take Eric Clapton for example - losing his young son from falling to his death out of a window in a NYC high rise apartment. I think this had a large influence on some of his 🎤 🎸 playing AFTER this happened. Many others were on drugs and then got clean (Beth Hart for one), abused alcohol, after which they too performed differently than before. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s seems much more apparent when these people are songwriters and/or vocalists vs only instrumentalists 🤔.

it's just so beautiful and accurate to have a different person display it every time as we continue our path. I wish for an end to this. But I still love those who have to endure it.
So true.. Also, its good to see there are still people that can comment on a video without trying to get likes on a comment by spouting garbage out of their mouth and telling us we are loved
Found this version today. I feel so frustrated !!! .... But happy that Skyler Grey give away her perfection. She choose to be ordinary artist. It just about time.
y the hell is she so underrated?! 😕 her voice touches me so deeply.. almost all of her songs are so classy.. I've also heard "moving mountains", another piece of awesomeness from Skylar grey.. I don't really follow the reason of her being so much underrated..
Skylar Grey goes in soo hard on this right here! Only reason they aint getting more hits is cuz Skylar Grey aint just watchign that short *on my channel* explaining how all these rappers out here be blowing up so big
No matter how much time passes, the feelings and memories of old friends and moments brought by these songs never goes away. music is truly a gift that keeps on giving😘
Lovely ❤ It goes to show that it doesn’t require an entire band, multiple instruments, singers, or any other ‘pomp and circumstance’ to make a video/song sound great! Just a single person who sings and plays the piano 🎹 like she is doing here says it all imo!
@@martijnfranssen5794 Since I wrote this comment 1/2 year ago, I have to listen/watch it again closely before I can honestly answer ur drummer 🥁 question. In my initial comment I was referring to the overall impression I had, and felt, about her w/o a lot of other people ‘hiding’ her voice by backing her up, like so many other artists. Lyrics:
On the first page of our story
The future seemed so bright
Then this thing turned out so evil
I don't know why I'm still surprised
Even angels have their wicked schemes
And you take that to new extremes
But you'll always be my hero
Even though you've lost your mind
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Now there's gravel in our voices
Glasses shattered from the fight
In this tug of war you always win
Even when I'm right
'Cause you feel me fables from your head
With violent words and empty threats
And it's sick that all these battles
Are what keeps me satisfied
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
So maybe I'm a masochist
I try to run but I don't wanna ever leave
Till the walls are going up
In smoke with all our memories
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

@@ricks7469 - sounded nicer than it is, dependancy is never a good option for an adult, but the "co" part made me think of something mutually beneficial..
No.
How could anyone have so many feelings in her voice?!
I have goosebumps instantly!
Same. This song & her voice singing it gives me chills
Am so speechless..... Actually I'm move to tears...
This is wonderful, absolute perfection.... Gosh how can one be so talented 😯
Words can't describe how peaceful I feel while listening to this song. Voice is an Angel.
so true such a beautiful song
Everything is wonderful here - beautiful woman, wonderful song and performance! Great!
For me SKYLAR put soul into the song to the point where you could feel the pain behind the lyrics as well the music. Rihanna on the other hand showcased the frustration and anger stemming from the hurt. Both beautiful versions of the song that touched me in different ways.
While RiRi is AMAZING, very few people know the truth behind this song and the first version. Look up Skylar Grey 🖤
“Love the Way You Lie" and "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" were based on a demo written and recorded in late 2009 by Grey. Grey said "I wrote the demo initially for myself because I thought, 'Oh, I have this big song, and now I have a little bit of a launching pad to put out my own stuff." Grey continued to discuss how the song was ultimately included on Loud, saying "As soon as Rihanna and her team heard my demo, they were like, 'Oh we want it for Rihanna's album,' so I had to make the decision if I was going to let them have it or not. But I did and so it was on Rihanna's album, too." The demo track by Grey, titled "Love the Way You Lie (Part III)", is on her extended play The Buried Sessions of Skylar Grey, which was released on January 17, 2012.
What an angelic voice…so powerful
Yeaa bro now I believe this earh live angel
The restraint in her voice is goosebumps inducing.
Most heart touching way of bringing out the word "Love the way u lie" and her voice has a childish innocence!
This woman has enormous talent. She's beautiful. Wow, this performance got to me.
Msglimmertwin Hello beautiful 😘 you
I love this version. Her voice is flawless.
And real. Nobody did anything to her voice to make it sound like that in the recordings!
she's the original singer and she wrote it

Every soft song should be all given to this woman♥️
This song is magic, it makes me cry, I don't know why but I'm gonna cry all my life, this song is so perfect and so emotional
glad to see the same effect as me
This is the most beautiful live performance ever and I love her makeup 😱
Wow..cant believe i just knew this in 2020. I see elegance, pain and beauty in her voice, and her tattoos are pretty too 😭
This song soooo belongs to her, suits her voice so much more❤
I like this the best! It has emotion in it and it’s more powerful: love her voice and stage presence. I have listened to all versions and I cannot feel the other ones by others- the is the real one to me and lovely!
Pain is the only we have understand
@@gmandersonjr 🤔 Huh? IDK what u meant by ur comment about ‘pain’. To me it’s a really well done 👍 performance by Skylar Grey and this beautiful song! I don’t feel like it’s intended to evoke the feelings that you eluded to, but perhaps it’s just my own interpretation.
@@elainemeyer5062 It is evident in her voice that she has experienced pain- you can't fake emotional trauma. I know as an army combat medic.
Maybe it’s just me, but it’s seems much more apparent when these people are songwriters and/or vocalists vs only instrumentalists 🤔.

she has a beautiful & lovely voice she's really amazing
I never heard such a emotional voice.. no words to explain it. Thank you Skylar.. love u
Absolutely beautiful!!!
it's just so beautiful and accurate to have a different person display it every time as we continue our path. I wish for an end to this. But I still love those who have to endure it.
This song used to perk me up when I would hear it on my morning drive to work.
So happy to hear it has brought you happiness!
Every word she sings touches the loneliness that has been stored for a long time
So true.. Also, its good to see there are still people that can comment on a video without trying to get likes on a comment by spouting garbage out of their mouth and telling us we are loved
I just hear a poetic way of saying " hey asshole! just keep fucking me like that and we are all good. "
ผมเป็นคนไทยนะคับ
ฟังไม่รุ้เรืองบอกตรงๆ
แต่ฟังแล้วน้ำตาไหลไม่เขาใจ
และชอบมากสากล
She is so criminally underrated!
Found this version today. I feel so frustrated !!! .... But happy that Skyler Grey give away her perfection. She choose to be ordinary artist. It just about time.
her songs always brings back my good ol memory when I was listening to songs on radio a decade ago
I wish this song was like two hours long....its so beautiful i don't ever want it to stop
I love you Skylar. Thank you for the music. You are a blessing in my world.
I can imagine and remember old someone's society affairs clear because you sing powerfully, quietly and perfectly. I love it. Thank you.
y the hell is she so underrated?! 😕 her voice touches me so deeply.. almost all of her songs are so classy.. I've also heard "moving mountains", another piece of awesomeness from Skylar grey.. I don't really follow the reason of her being so much underrated..
n tragic ending revival (Y)

are there still some people listening to this song in 2024
I go back to this song very often
It touches my heart and brings me tears
It makes me feel alive

Starting new year here 😊
@@littlemisstwiggy4529 my nickname is twiggy! Saw your name had to say it
Stelar performance!!! Thank you Mis Gray, you’re fabulous, although you made me cry….
Your voice is so melodic, almost haunting. It's very lovely to listen to. I could loop this to fall asleep (don't sleep well), your voice is gorgeous!
Skylar Grey goes in soo hard on this right here! Only reason they aint getting more hits is cuz Skylar Grey aint just watchign that short *on my channel* explaining how all these rappers out here be blowing up so big
Her voice is so amazing in every song
No matter how much time passes, the feelings and memories of old friends and moments brought by these songs never goes away. music is truly a gift that keeps on giving😘
The greatest struggle in life is to battle your own soul to fight the evil within yourself
Her voice is completely different, out of this world....!!!!!!
Skylar Grey must go solo, she is the best vocal singer i ever heard
She goes solo. What are you talking?
@@troll2637 with her hand may be :P
Wow, it's great to hear what the author of the lyrics put into this song. ❤ Beautiful and sensitive
one of the best lyricists.
and the best female singer.
Lovely ❤ It goes to show that it doesn’t require an entire band, multiple instruments, singers, or any other ‘pomp and circumstance’ to make a video/song sound great! Just a single person who sings and plays the piano 🎹 like she is doing here says it all imo!
Yeah, but were is the drummer?!
It was the vocal purity and talent of of her singing + being able to hear HER in a ‘simple’, not lavishly done performance. THEN I can reply to u better! 😉
@@elainemeyer5062 it was just a joke. I like this performance very much. Her voice is great… but as a drummer I made a joke about the part not requiring a band 🤣
@@martijnfranssen5794 Oh, my mistake - I thought u meant there really was a drummer 🥁 in the video background that I didn’t see. Got it now 😉
I prefer acoustic music. Acoustic guitar or piano.
I love this. Sometimes we give ourselves to the wrong person and we believe their lies...
that's right and a big wrong
Hands down one of the best live performances you'll ever see
I love this song! It brings me so much peace and your voice is beautiful!
She has such a beautiful voice.

Skylar grey delivers a pained emotion to this song, while with Rihanna it gives you a Feeling of brokenness
Just my opinion
diana dagondon that kid who shot up the school in Florida liked this song
to be honest when Rihanna sings these kinds of songs, I can't really hear or feel emotion from her.
Exactly
pullup188 well She got abused by chris brown
Yes nic
We need many more songs from her, don't we?
Yeeeess!

Angels can never have wicked schemes. What is the lyricist trying to highlight! Damn, Lord Christ and His angels protect, love and heal.

this was so Angelic and emotional she has amazing control over her voice, I loved every sound in this video and this type of music is from god so clean lovely .. on other side Rihana's version is devilish smells darkness
Lyric :
- On the first page of our story
- The future seemed so bright
-Then this thing turned out so evil
- I don't know why I'm still surprised
- Even angels have their wicked schemes
- And you take that to new extremes
- But you'll always be my hero
- Even though you'ue last your mind
- Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
- But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
- Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
- But that's alright because I love the way you lie
- I love the way you lie
- Oh.. I love the way you lie
- Now there's gravel in our voices
- Glass is shattered from the fight
- In this tug of war, you'll away win
- Even when I'm right
- Cause you feed me fables from your hards
- With violent words and empty threats
- And it's sick that all these battles
- Are what keeps me satisfied
- Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
- But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
- Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
- But that's alright because I love the way you lie
- I love the way you lie
- Oh.. I love the way you lie
- So maybe I'm a masochist
- I try to run but I don't want to ever leave
- Til the walls are goin' up
- In smoke with all our memories
- Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
- But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
- Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
- But that's alright because I love the way you lie
- I love the way you lie
- Oh.. I love the way you lie
Damn :/
Thx mate

U all are going crazy about her voice, but the lyrics, it brings me to tears everytime.
She doesn't need to be some pop star always performing on stage... as a singer/songwriter, she makes incredible bank!!! She has a beautiful voice.
