- Begum Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah was a trailblazer in the male-dominated fields of diplomacy and politics. She was the first woman to represent Pakistan at the United Nations and was a prominent figure in the women's rights movement in the country. Despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles, she never wavered in her commitment to advocating for gender equality and social justice.
In this video, we will be diving into the life and contributions of the influential Pakistani diplomat and politician, Begum Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah.
Early Life and Education: Begum Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah was born into a prominent political family in British India. She received a quality education and was exposed to the world of politics from a young age.
Political Career: Ikramullah was a founding member of the All Pakistan Women's Association and played a key role in drafting Pakistan's first women's rights legislation. She also served as Pakistan's ambassador to several countries, including Morocco and Tunisia.
Legacy: Begum Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah's legacy continues to inspire women in Pakistan and around the world to pursue their dreams and break barriers in male-dominated fields.
She died on 11 December 2000, in Karachi, at age 85. In 2002, President of Pakistan posthumously gave her the highest civil award, Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Order of Excellence) award.

In last era of her life she wrote an Urdu book on "Dilli ki khawateen ke roz marrah ke muhawrey".
Her Urdu publications are really a wonder for a woman who had an English speaking atmosphere in her family throughout her brought up. They became so much used to speaking English so that they had to put a fine on every member of the family who spoke English instead of Urdu to throw a coin in a baby bank set for this purpose just to revert to their tradition. People like Begum Shaista Ikramullah
are the real jewls of the Quaid's Pakistan.

When she was embassador in Morocco I was there too as my father was 3rd secretary in the embassy.This was in 1966.She also help to admission in American school which in US naval base Kanitara.My last encounter with her was at Velima ceremony of Mehdi Massod's Son Abbass Massod.
