RIP to Frankie Beverly. The distinctive sound that he created with Maze can never duplicated and will remain unparalelled. Thank you for all of those musical classics and memories. May you rest in eternal peace.
Had the pleasure of meeting Mr Beverly when I was on the Cheerios tour with Gerald Levert! G would make sure we all looked at their show after his set!!! G had such a love for FB and Maze plus at the time Jubu Smith and Carl Wheeler starting playing with them and they was killing!!!! Awesome bass playing sir as always! RIP TO Frankie Beverly, Gerald and Sean Levert my music mentors!!
One of the smoothest and most soulful singers to ever stand in front of a microphone!!! "Back in Stride" and "Before I Let You Go" are two of my favorites!!! REST IN THE GREATEST PEACE FRANKE!!!
Thank you for this video. Thank you Frankie Beverly & Maze for all the "Lovely Inspiration" that you have so graciously shared with the rest of the world. I see someone has a Peavey T-40 in the background. I have 2 of them from 1978, 1 before the patent and 1 after the patent.
I'm going to check more Maze out. The only tunes I've played are Before I Let Go (I know that's probably the biggest one, and we've also played Beyonce's version with the Candy groove), Happy Feelin's and Back In Stride. My bandleader hipped me to the importance of the cookout in Black culture, and that Maze was a big part of the gatherings. Rest in peace, Mr. Beverly.
RIP Frankie! Too many favorites to name. They combine infectious grooves with meaningful lyrics.
Brother left his mark before he let go. RIP Frankie!

Robin Duhe was a great bassist on those classic Frankie Beverly and Maze albums.
