Agreed. The fact that they can’t really restricts their usage. It’s unfortunate, because I would love to be able to make better use of them on avenues.
@@PretzelRoad a modular system which allows us to add trees, fences, buslanes, trolleybus and tram and eben stations for all of them individually to normal streets would be perfect to keep up with the many ways of transportation which got patched into the game over last 5 years. Even modular stations (like in Transport Fever 2) instead of normal stations and transport hubs would make a huge improvement to the game. Maybe possible features for Cities SkyLines 2, I hope the developers realized how big this game became since their plans for a small improvaed Sim City clone (which it totally killed with EAs help)
Completely agreed. As a console player myself (that means no mods, sadly), I’ve found that you really have to be creative with what you’ve been given, and fun as that is, it really restricts how interesting you can make a city.
Today, thanks to this video, I found out that you can walk & drive in your city! What a great feature. Yes, textures and models aren't so good but it's s a city building game so they didn't have to include this. I play on console (PS4) as well.
Now in a real city. :) San Francisco has all of them: bus, trolley bus, tram, metro, commuter rail and cable cars. It generates its own electricity so trolley buses and trams are cheaper to run. Streets with trams and trolley buses can (and do) use the same catenary (overhead wires). And trolley buses can drive up walls. I mean they don't even slow down on hills. But back to the game... have fun.
In my city there are also all of them: bus, trolley bus, tram, tramtrain, regional and intercity train (25k V, 50 Hz), suburban train (1000 V DC), metro (or subway, 825 V DC), cog rail (1500 V DC), children's railway (760 mm gauge), cable car (funicular and chairlift too).

Interesting. I would guess that it’s a route problem (i.e. the trolleybuses/trams have a significant overlap with regular buses or the routes just aren’t ones that your cims are interested in using), however I could not explain this for certain, seeing as I ignored ridership to ensure that population & routes wouldn’t affect my numbers. All that said, I’d be interested to hear how you get your citizens to use trams and trolleybuses if you ever do.
Probably not, unless you REALLY like trolleybuses. I would check my second video on trolleybuses (Why Use the Trolleybus?) to see if they’re really even going to serve a practical use for you, but I would also advise against buying an entire piece of DLC for a single part of it (discount or not). If you think you could utilize the trolleybuses well, the next thing to figure out is whether you might enjoy using the new maps, intercity bus, inland wastewater treatment plant, fishing industry, etc. If those sound like they might be useful as well, I would buy the DLC. If not, I would advise you to stick with regular buses (which aren’t all that different).
I guess when I made this video, I figured that some people, particularly those trying to quickly expand their cities from a small size (low budget) or make a large public transit network, might be concerned with how expensive the infrastructure is upfront. That said, I do agree with your point that much of the time, the upfront cost is negligible compared to the city’s budget.

I belive it had been better if the wires could be added to any road.

Also Philly and Boston

Sick video. Thanks for crunching the numbers.
"A bus with extra infrastructure", I must have been reading your mind from a distance. Spatially and temporally.
They should have added more roads with trolley bus wires in the november 15th 2022 update
Wow man! Thanks for the info! You will grow one day man, I know it.
In my city I usually use the bus, tram.
My favorite infrastruction that I Think is the best is the Underground
I like the trolleybus, but the number of LHT Trolleybus in the workshop is limited.
thanks for the vid been trying to look for a vid like this

Great discussion, thanks for that.
A transport that looks cool but nothing else, it's basically just for the builders
i am still using trolley bus in my cities for my cities skylines game.
It's so sad tram cannot cross w/ trolleybuses!
Use road anarchy
great video!
i dont see many citizens using the trams or trolly buses. its like they dont like them as much as regular buses

If u don’t have any other types of transportation near by they’ll take it seems like citizens prefer to use metro and normal buses over trolly/tams
Hello. Should you buy the dlc sunset harbor just for the trolleybus, even with a 25% discount?

I always wait for the 50% discount
As fuel will become pricier, eventually trolleybusses will be preferable choice for many cities, around the world.
female cities skylines fan yay!
I assume you’re talking about me, in which case no, I just have a bit of a high-pitched voice (esp on some of these older vids) :p
@@PretzelRoad I think she meant to say she is a female and a fan of cities skylines , not calling you a girl
Please link the mod to control a character
It’s not a mod, it’s a console (except Nintendo Switch) edition feature. I play on Xbox, so I don’t have any mods at all.
@@PretzelRoad thank you for telling me
I have never concern about the road price..

is it possible to walk/drive on PC?
I think only with mods. I play on Xbox, though, which is why I can walk/drive without any mods.
@@PretzelRoad hmm.. i see
thanks :D
Is this part of some dlc or mod?
Yes. This is part of the Sunset Harbor DLC. No mods, though; I play on Xbox.
I used all of it
trolebus city is nice, tram city is nice, normal bus city is boring that´s all
