There are three distinct eras of REM (The IRS years 81 - 87 jangle pop, garagey, underground), then they signed to a major label in 89 (The Warner years - more polished and exquisite songwriting), and then the post Bill Berry years (more experimental, but still brilliant songs)
When this came out I was working at a resort. This french guy used to play it on guitar and sing "Dance me in da corner", I'd lose it everytime he sang it. "That's me, it's Fucking that's me!" Lol
R.E.M. ARE AN INCREDIBLE BAND SO POWERFUL MESSAGES, YOU SEE HOW EDDIE VEDDER LOVED THEM. I HOPE REACT TO " MAN ON THE MOON" AND THE POWERFUL " EVERYBODY HURTS" A VERY EMOTIONAL SONG! I'M SURE YOU WILL KNOW THEM SONGS TOO RORY. AWESOME REACTION RORY 💙 AND THANK YOU LUKE, TOTALLY AWESOME REQUEST!! R.E.M. ROCKS!! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE!!
Oh that brings back memories. Saw them when they performed at Ipswich in 2005. It was one day after the London underground bombing and i believe they altered some of there set list as a mark of respect, as they didn't think it would be right to perform their usual set. It was a fantastic evening and and it showed me just how good a band they really were.
Absolute nonsense no member of R.E.M contracted AIDS no idea where you got this ridiculous statement from you probably just made it up in your own mind.

There’s a song that’s going to stay in rotation.
Majestic performance, a truly iconic Glastonbury set, 1999 though - where does the time go!? 👏🏻🎵
😊 Excellent request 👍 Glad you have REM covered 😄Can't wait to see his reaction to lyrics for It's the End of the World as We Know It 😄
@@LydellC yeah this is just for starters and yes, that will be worth a watch for sure! 👌🏻 x
This a take on the southern USA saying 'lost my religion' which means losing one's temper or civility or feeling frustrated and desperate.
Have you done Day Sleeper by R.E.M yet mate? If not add it to the list. Good stuff all around with this band eh?
Mike had AIDS while he was performing this song like Freddie Mercury, he was AMAZING!!!
@@anthonyblakely399 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Stipe seems like he didn't, cheers.
