ranked is really frustrating in SFV above diamond. once i hit diamond progress just seemed to slow so much, and at first i thought i wasn't getting better, but i quickly realized that it's because the wide range of skills you play against means you can have an awful winrate, like 30%,and still be increasing in rank points because you're mostly losing to players much higher rank, but you don't lose as many points for it. every 'pro' SFV streamer that streams themselves playing ranked has like an 70%-80% win rate and hit the ranked treadmill. the flipside is every diamond player who is treadmilled at a 25%-40% win rate. it doesn't really matter if you detach your enjoyment of the game for winning, but i mean come on
Beat rank 6 lose to rank 1404 online sf5 is random as heck and brain f is a pro fighter and commentator .. image a random players beginning experience.
You know, the Rivals of Aether ranked system is flawed af but at least it doesn't tally win or loss until after a 2 out of 3 set. If you 1 and done it's considered a forfeit.
Neither does SFV, you play a Bo3 match like any normal FG, and get points based on that, and can rematch up to twice, for 3 full Bo3 sets, or (up to) 9 rounds, losing one round in a match isn't a Loss of points

Lol I'm sitting here as a guilty gear player laughing at the SF players thinking pot is low tier. He's not low tier, he's mid tier. Though they are right that he can be quite good at low ranks, he's also good at high ranks but it takes a fair bit of work to get the most out of him because if you don't know what you're doing it's very hard to get in on people and even harder to keep on them.
