You should have seen the original PR adverts for the game. They had a guy from discovery channel that used to do a series on advanced weaponry and he did PR videos on the in game weapons as if they were real lol.
Had this on the 360 ten years ago and loved it! Remember being impressed with the physics back then and haven't seen a game that's matched it since. Just ordered it off amazon!
Played it on ps3. I would buy again if the online was really good because that experience was very fun and unique but short lived because the matchmaking wasn't good and it probably wasn't popular. The physics engine definitely is still top tier after all of these years.
Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling this way. If only EA would stop enforcing games with “surprise mechanics”. I wish EA would be geared toward consumers who want remastered games they help publish. When it comes to the switch all I see from them mainly is FIFA. Thanks EA! (._.)
Saints Row was published by Deep Silver (yes they are part of Thq but they make their own decisions) Darksiders or Red Faction are published by Thq Nordic
The Red Faction series started as a PS2 exclusive (RF1) thus there was also a PS3 port of Guerrilla (RF3) and there is an HD version of Guerrilla in PS4... None of which you mentioned.
A game originally designed to run on 512MB of RAM and run on 256MB of VRAM runs on the switch. Colour me shocked lol. I played this again on PC about December 2018 and had a blast playing it and got a lot further than I did back in 2009 as it ran a lot smoother on faster hardware but tbf I used to run the game on a ATI 4850 at 1080p, it ran a bit slow at times and tbf I probably could have lowered the resolution down to get it to run smoother. I assume the Switch version is 720p unless in graphics mode which might bump the resolution up.
LOL Re-Marstered just doesn't sound right. Gonna have to grab this game! Love Red Faction 2 multiplayer so much, and didn't pick this up when it originally came out because of no local multiplayer. Great coverage per usual, cheers!
Bro... Can you please, PLEASE, bring the old intro back! I loved the music and clips! It was so fun and happy I would love to see it again. Do it for everyone my man. We love it!
This game is great , you forgot to mention the multiplayer which is the 2nd best shooter MP game on the Switch - Splatoon being no.1 - but the matches iv played are very short on players but hopefully will get bigger
I know there wasn't going to be any worries about this running out, I am so excited for it I pre ordered it for Switch. I used to play this on Steam, so I was excited to see it on Switch.
I got it on PS3 originally. Then I got it on Steam. Got the free upgrade to ReMarstered on Steam and when it came to Switch, I was overjoyed. It was one of 3 major 360/PS3 games that I wanted to be ported(other 2 were Just Cause 2 and RDR1. Neither have been ported yet sadly). Certainly not winning awards for story but the fun in it is the primal joy I take in destroying things. It excels at that
I never played this game back in the day, and honestly didn't care enough to want to buy it... until now. Your recommendation may have swayed me. We'll see. And have a happy birthday, dude!
Jacob Fisher I suggest if you have a PS4 or PS2 to get the first two first(Red Faction and Red Faction II). Characters and concepts from those games make an appearance in this game and it helps expand the universe. ^^
@P R not really. It just was a series that slipped by my attention back in the day. I'm more of an Xbox guy, honestly. I love my Switch, but I wouldn't call myself close to a Nintendo fanboy, since I never had a Wii or WiiU.
Red Faction Guerrilla is a must own. Like Kuato from Total Recall said "Open your mind!" Yeah open your minds Switch owners and don't pass this game by.
I saw this thing on the e-shop Discount area , for _$8_ and I thought - ''Mmm, I remember that game being 'quite Good for it's then Groundbreaking Physics on console' about 15 Years ago somewhere''. One of random things you tell yourself. I hadn't bought a Switch game in basically a Year, my latest being Skyward Sword HD; so I just went for it lol! 💫😁
I’m very late to the party but rgt 85 is right. The gameplay is the star of the show for this game. It’s on sale for $7.49 on the e-shop right now and I definitely recommend picking it up.
On sale for $2.99 now I’m picking it up who would of thunk that in the future you can download a game for under three dollars . I would’ve actually thought that downloading games at your convenience would be more expensive talking of what I thought of the future would bring if that makes sense.
Shawn. I really hope you do an update video on the online play of this game! When I played back in the day on PC it was SO much fun! I really want this game to get a lot of people to play online so you should get it out there and make a video on the online when it comes out! Happy Birthday Shawn!
I played this on Steam and enjoyed the crap out of it awhile back. Puts most modern games to shame with the awesome destruction physics and the progression meta of destroying crap and getting new stuff in return. Tons of fun to be had here.
Yeah thinking about the tech inside this game, just made us think "🤯 how will the next generation games look like??" but of course, we got those potato CPUs 😒 I really hope, we get more games with destruction engines like this next generation though! =o Because those consoles WILL be powerful enough. There's NO excuse next time!
There was not a excuse thise gen. On ps3-360 gen was much more an excuse, because first hd consoles with alot more technics that where new. And still we got games like gta 4-5, red faction 3, mgs 4(still an impressive game) or games like mgs rising. Where you could cut most stuff. This gen the devolopers where just lazy and uninspired... Tbh, i have the feeling: Since we had more powerfull systems, they get more and more lazy. Less power equals beeing more creativ to get things done... And since they got so lazy, things like saints row happends, that should run so much better on switch in comparison.
This game is like putting on your little used favourite old coat and finding ten pounds in the pocket, yes its not a new coat, and it's only finding a tenner but it puts a huge smile on your face.
The biggest part of this game for me was the local multiplayer game mode "wrecking crew" you take turns with a set amount of ammo and try to destroy as much as possible, with a point going to whoever wins the round, and you play to a certain number of points, with ammo increasing each round. best part is you use one controller and pass it around, making it a perfect early switch owner multiplayer title. is this mode missing from the switch port?
RF1 literally invented modern destruction physics, calling it "geomod", I believe. RF1 was the first sci fi shooter campaign mode to really keep me on the edge of my seat and blow my fkn mind when I beat it. Spectacular campaign story... RF2 didn't quite live up to all of that, but it was solid and had some of the most fun multiplayer modes of its time. RF1 multiplayer was all about building tunnels with the rocket launcher lmao... was so fun, as well, but 2 had an awesome capture the flag in the early days of online console multiplayer. Guerilla did not live up to any of this in any way and I didn't have a worthy console at the time so I never played it. This review makes me excited to try it on Switch, but my god I wish they would've ported 1 & 2 first. Those games seriously need remasters, but I just wanna play the originals on Switch. Imagine how many tunnels I could build if I had RF on a portable console...
THQ Nordic can keep bringing $30-40 ports out all they want. I’m enjoying them
Should be cheaper.
@@oasisbeyond like your mom. Lol
@@oasisbeyond Yeah true but at least it aint 60 bucks.
Who saw you who see you Nintendo
For real, half my library must be THQ Nordic now
That feel when a 10 year old game has better destruction physics than crackdown 3. A game literally sold on that idea
You should have seen the original PR adverts for the game. They had a guy from discovery channel that used to do a series on advanced weaponry and he did PR videos on the in game weapons as if they were real lol.
He’s says “re-MARS-tered” like 10 times before the intro even starts. I can’t even say it once without my eyes rolling into the back of my head.
Was saying the same thing 🤬
he also says the full "nintendo switch" every fucking time, as if he doesnt already pad out every video five times longer than they need to be...
Stopping to breathe every now and then would help the listen-ability of your reviews.

Not surprised by this. Some games age very well and this is one of them. This remaster is just icing on the cake
*reMARSter

Played this game on XB360 back in 2009 and it took over my summer. The destruction blew me away and LOVED it.
Can we get a port of the mass effect trilogy?
Man I've been saying this I know this would be a big seller on the switch. Three great games on the go
How about Dragon Age Origins first? 😋

Awesome review, I've been waiting for this. Happy birthday!
I've never played Red Faction before. Looks and sounds like a cool game when I do get my Switch this year.
This is one of the best games I played on 360, I'm so excited about this coming to the Switch!
Well done on the review. I don't normally listen or watch reviews to decide on a game but it helped me to decide to get it. Cheers ☺

I love how this game works and Ubisoft says R6: Siege will never come to the switch because it can't handle environmental destruction.
