Single greatest guitar performance I've ever seen. Tempo change, guitar change, tune in middle of set, playing with teeth, in your face grindy and gritty blues rock along with beautiful feel. The best. I've seen a lot and it's the best

Stevie wrote this song for his friend Charlie who passed away from a heart attack he was also his guitar guy.
Stevie went into rehab in the falll of 1986 at the same time as his best friend bassist Tommy Shannon. He helped many people with sobriety. Tommy always wants people to know as fierce as he was on the guitar was less to him than what a humble generous gentle soul Stevie was. So as much as I love the performer I love the man more. This is my favorite
Incidentally, after he played with his teeth you notice that he’s looking around and then mouths something to Tommy (his bass player). He lost his tooth and was looking for it. Haha. What an epic performance!!

Those who compare him to Jimi don't know what they're talking about. Stevie's main influence was Albert King. Watch the Stevie and Albert studio sessions and after the first three notes you'll understand why I said Albert was his main man. Hell, Albert was his godfather!

Nobody mentioned that he switched guitars while never missing a beat?!?! That was EPIC!
Many things happen during this performance that many don't catch. 1) He changes guitars early, and fiddles with the sound thereafter; 2) He loses his pick and bends down to get that; 3) He loses a tooth while playing with his teeth...looks over and say to the crew, "lost my tooth"..."it's gone". Seen him 3 times. It gets HOT down here in Texas!
He always kept his picks on his microphone when he bent over he was adjusting his wah wah pedal but a lot of people think that he dropped his pick all good srv #1
I have watched a lot of people react to this video and not mention (not notice) the guitar change at the beginning or when he is adjusting the amps turning his head to hear if the change is what he wanted.
So glad you are loving Stevie - he is on a level upon levels upon levels - Jimi was one of his top 3 idols but he is more of straight Texas Blues with jazz and surf rock and Chicago blues, rockabilly (Elvis) and lots of soul music - and ou of that a figure who transcends emerges - plus his life story of how he came up - it couldn't be a more perfect explanation oh how he ended up so incredible. His 4 year older brother is a famous blues guitarist, he slept on pool tables in blues clubs in the heart of on of the top blues scenes on the planet in Austin when he was in his early teens, just playing for hours and then got to play and watch legends come through his home base, "Antone's" like BB King, Albert King - and they welcomed him - and he always paid tribute to those legends who came before him and due to racial issues in the states in the 30s and 40s - through the 70's - well through now - those guys didn't get the credit or money or anything they deserved. But WHEN Stevie broke big - he made sure those older idols were coming too - he always toned down his skills so they would shine when they jammed, he was just a kind soul and humble - he was troubled and afflicted with addiction but he won - few do - clean for 5 years before we lost him. His playing in the early 80's (El Mocambo) was so raw and unconstrained when he was in the party it was like a wild dragon - oh my god it is so pure and insane - but he was even better sober - like my recommendation for a next song - "Mary Had a Little Lamb" from Austin City Limits from 1989 - he was clearly a rare talent in any arena - someone who is born with a genetic savant level skill for something - be it sports or art or music - no explanation just happens in a tiny % of people - but then he had a life where everything else for a guitar god to emerge fell into place or he worked endlessly to get those that did not. He is unlike anyone else - no need to get into best or whatever - always will be personal taste and plenty of guitarists think he just sits in the blues scale he has played 10 billion times an of course sounds incredible but I respect that opinion but it doesn't remotely resemble reality from what I have heard and seen myself for most of my life from him. Still miss him terribly and didn't even knw who he was when he passed. Just 2 or 3 later as I was getting better at playing - then I heard something - this tone this sound - he is THE ONE and that's ok, I'll always feel that way. My friend here are sooo many videos and he never plays the same song twice. If you want a deep blues SRV check out "Tin Pan Alley" with Jonny Copeland or if you want him showing of his soul and jazz roots check out "Lenny" from El Mocambo. You have a lot to look forward to!

SRV played guitar on David Bowie's "Let's Dance" album. Stevie Ray was unknown until Bowie saw him performing in 1982 at the Montreux Jazz Festival. If you know the songs "Let's Dance", "Modern Love", and "China Girl", that's Stevie Ray Vaughn playing lead guitar on them.
Nobody is observant enough to notice the guitar switch.

However, though I'm sure you meant no disrespect to SRV or your viewers, the comments were LOADED with F-bombs that were distracting, unnecessary, and frankly offensive. There was hardly any sentence that came out of your mouth that didn't include an F-bomb! Please reconsider depending on foul language for adjectives and emphasis in your reviews. Your reactions would be so much more appreciated if you let your audience enjoy your honest thoughts and the good music in an atmosphere that is still authentic, but without causing discomfort from the repeated use of four-letter words.
