From what I've heard, that wasn't even in the script. She was talking with Scarlett about the poses and the damage they'd do in real life, the director (or someone) overheard, and said they wanted it in the movie.
That "time of the month" comment . . . I suddenly realized Red Guardian didn't even begin to comprehend how horrifying the Red Room program actually was. He really was the Russian equivalent of Captain America, the Boy Scout (or I guess it would be the Young Pioneer) who believed in the ideals but didn't really grasp how deep the rabbit hole was at first.

I'm so looking forward to seeing Florene Pugh as Yelena Belova in future MCU projects. Hell she definitely needs her own movie.

My favorite thing about Yelena is even though this is her first appearance, she feels like a rock solid part of the MCU. Like she’s been here all along. The way Scarlet and Florence play off each other shows a level a familiarity that helps us feel closer to Yelena. I can’t wait to see her in more MCU installments
For context: during this movie she’s 28-27 and after nat died, depending on if she was blipped or not she’s 33.
