Welcome to Florida in the summertime. I live in the Tampa Bay area. Not only do we get thunderstorms in the heat of the day, but sometimes we get tropical storms and hurricanes. You are so lucky to be on the eastern side of TS Cristobal. One other thing is I've had my black Kia Soul for just over 3years and I love it. People are surprised at the headroom when they get in. From N.H. but winter in F.L. Our youngest daughter goes to UWF in Pensacola. It is cool there very hilly which she said it made it feel like home then come down off the hills and BAM! Palm trees and white sandy beaches. Best of both worlds. I hope you enjoyed the Emerald Coast! They even have a doggy beach that Lu can go on; it's on the way out to Fort Pickens in Pensacola. I could go on about it, love the West Coast, oddly we don't winter over there we go to Central Florida. Enjoy and Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!
Thunderstorms at the Gulf Coast are beautiful! The bayside in Pensacola is wonderful. I love the boardwalk there. I cannot wait for my beach trips this summer! If you go to the Gulf Coast again I recommend going to the FloraBama in Orange Beach and The Hangout in Gulf Shores.
I’m from New Jersey but I currently live outside of Orlando and I’ve been to some beautiful places in Florida and I absolutely love Destin Florida I stayed at the pelican beach hotel right on the beach overlooking the Gulf of Mexico on the 14th floor. It’s in the golf of Mexico and I love key west. Enjoy your stay WELCOME TO FLORIDA.
Beachan Chelle? You so funny. Please be careful driving through those flooded areas. They can whisk you away soo fast. If you love lighting, thunder and rain falling heavily, Indiana is the place. Winter is the only time it doesn't happen. Happy Birthday, Chelle. You're the best.
My daughter & son in law live in St Augustine, Fl. Oldest city....beautiful to visit. They have horse drawn carriage rides telling all the history. Or you can rent little scooters to ride around. If you go, be sure to visit St George st. A road lined on both sides with shops of every kind & restaurants. Hope you have the best time ever!!!

Ok, it's kind of far from Panama City Beach, but if you're heading to the Tampa area, you'll run into Tarpon Springs, FL just north of Tampa. Awesome awesome place! It's a greek community, and they still pull sea sponges out of the ocean to sell in the village. They have a bunch of restaurants, shops, etc. The shops have sea sponges that can be used in the bathroom (think loofah), soaps made with goat's milk (super cool stocking stuffers), etc. We bought a sea sponge from there in 2018 after our cruise to use in our kitchen, and we still have about 1/4 of it left. Sponges are natural bacteria disinfectants. We cut pieces off to use as a dish sponge and it lasts a really long time. We are headed back next month to Merritt Island, FL on the other side of the causeway from Cocoa Beach, and we will drive 4 hours over to Tampa just to get another sponge and spend the day there. They have a boat ride out to Anclote Key which we did in 2018 and the boat took us to a sandbar island where we found hundreds of sea shells (they give you a bag to collect them), and we saw a bunch of dolphins on the way back in swimming beside, and underneath our boat. Have fun!

You would be surprised what the hamster mobile can drive through. I have one and it made it through the massive storm Arizona had 5 years back that closed schools, freeways, and many towns. I watched trucks need to get towed out of flooded roads that I made it through. I like to call mine the brave little toaster.
Dan and Chelle I live in a small town called Ft. Meade, FL. It is in the center of the state. Halfway between Tampa and Orlando. I was raised for 10 years just outside of Miami. Most of the beaches are amazing.
I moved to Hollywood fla when I was 5 and then moved to Alabama when I was 23 I love it here we live in the country and it’s so quiet! Been here for 34 yrs now! But I want to move to Utah it’s sooo beautiful where you guys live ! Especially Brandon and mindy the mountains right there all around them! Next time y’all go to Alabama you need to rent a house on the bch in dolphin island below mobile! It’s so nice ! We are going there aug 22nd for 7 days I rented a 5 bedroom house it’s so gorgeous! Can’t wait we got the kids and grandkids and greatgrandchild going! Gonna have fun I bought me a electric scooter to ride while we are there gonna have to buy some more so I don’t have to share!🤣!

My sister has one of those hamster cars 😂😂 Never been to Pensacola, but I’ve been to Marco Island, and they have one of the most beautiful white sand beaches as well❤️ My sister & brother in law have a condo right on the beach! It also has a bridge/walkway like that one you took a pic of a Chelle. I should send you the pic👍 Enjoy your trip. Glad the rain stopped so you could really enjoy the beach 😉 Ps....I love storms too! They get wild in a Florida as well. The wind can literally knock you over😱

I grew up 4 hours north of Panama City, Florida (I’ve lived in California for 5 years now) and we went there many times every single summer. I saw on your Instagram you went to Thomas’ Donuts and that was our favorite place growing up. My dad passed away 12 years ago but when we went on family vacations him and I would wake up super early and go there to get breakfast for everyone. It’s been oddly comforting watching this and seeing your instagrams.
STOP!!!! From a Floridian never, NEVER drive through water over a road! Its kinda an unspoken law. My heart isn't going to make it through your Florida trip!!!!!!! Go! Go and walk the beach! My favorite time to walk the beach is night and morning. I love watching the sunrises. At night and early morning its so calm, that's when I just walk, sit, feel the sand between my toes, the breeze in my hair, hear the waves, and I just sit and ponder, and pray. The calm I feel at the beach at night and early morning is as close to the feeling you can get in the temple. Its the best feeling!

I live in south Florida! Everyone always goes to the Destin area but I think our area is so much better. It’s warmer and also my city is so much less touristy. We have great ethnic restaurants too! Lots of Jamaican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, pretty much any restaurants!

Pensacola is about 45 min from me and Panama City is about an hour and a half from me in the other direction. If you went down I-10 you came through my town of Crestview! Enjoy the Emerald Coast it’s beautiful!🥰

We stayed at the Majestic Towers! They were nice with good beach access. There SO many options down there though!

Honestly nothing beats a good spring/summer storm in the south especially if you have a tin roof!!

Go! Go and walk the beach! My favorite time to walk the beach is night and morning. I love watching the sunrises.
