FYI: Instead of copying and repeating the frame you want to extend, you can right click and 'Add Frame Hold', and then drag to your desired length. Nice vid!
Edit: Nevermind, they got rid of this too. So, fair warning, the latest version of Premiere doesn't have the Title option in the same place as the video as its being retired. Instead you go File -> New -> Legacy Title to create one.
Since the Title feature is gone in the newer versions of Premiere, I've found that creating a transparent video works just as well. File > New > Transparent Video, and make sure it's set to the same size as your frame.
You can just grab the text tool and click on the preview window to make a new text box, then you can drag this effect onto that layer and delete the text box. Easy peasy!
Yeah I don't have AE installed on this pc (new install) at the moment and thought, surely Premiere can do this too. And I found your video, keywords: countdown timer premiere pro, even though I use CC, old habits die hard I guess. Worked fine for my 1000subs vid last week, which I had to make in an hour more or less, so I had to have a quick fix so to speak. Alsoeda used that frame hold I mentioned, making it a bit less "dirty"😄 So thanks mate!
Great vid! My Adobe Premiere looks slightly different. I didn't have the title option like in the video. SO instead what I did to make it work was: Create a new text with the Type Tool but don't type anything. You just want the pink line on the timeline. Follow the instructions of the video by adding Timecode, changing option to frames, uncheck field symbol, change from media to clip. Drag your pink line to last as long as you want the counter to go. Right click and click "Nest...". It will now go from Pink to Green and you're done. Now all I did was speed the nest up and move it wherever I want to and just like that I had created a counter from 0 to 13000 that lasted for 11 seconds to put wherever I wanted to in my video. EDIT: You can't edit the font but you can get creative with other tricks. I copy pasted the nest so I had two, ultra-keyed one nest to turn the text black, move it slightly so it looks like the white text has a shadow, plopped a VHS effect onto both nests and it looked a little bit better. :)
What makes this method better than just creating text graphics with the numbers instead? You would be able to change the font of text graphics, and do more things like feathering etc. You wouldn't even need to copy and paste a bunch of frames, just lengthen and shorten as necessary.
Great tutorial, just one question, how can I add the title in Premiere Pro CC, it is not listed in the layer option in the version I have, or how am I able to convert the title to a video, because when I insert text, I am unable to change the speed duration??? Thanks in advance
Great stuff but for my project it actually works quicker to simply write text from 0 to 100 manually. This video probably works best if you need to count up fast but I just need to increase the number when I get to my markers. To bad Premiere doesn't have an effect counter, instead of counting and playing around with the frames.
Thanks! I was looking for this to further enhance the countdown

i AM STUCK at 2:59 when importing back the original sequence and then put over the TIMER sequence - My timer clip is not showing the frames ....don't know why
Thank you for you kind words! I'm very happy to help, this was something I needed for a personal project so I had to think a little outside the box :P Completely understood with the PayPal thing, you could also use the 'join' button on my channel that helps support me directly on UA-cam as an alternative to paypal(although it is recurring so keep that in mind.).
When you're so damn LEET you land on 13:37 by accident. Nice video. Unfortunately it's not quite what I'm looking for. I'm editing a video of a 3-way crate battle of the new Victory crate in RL. All of this would work for keeping score of our items, but changing the font is a must since our spinning crates will be inside a slot machine and the counter needs to look digital. I guess I'll just have to do it manually like when I counted each time we said "I'm drunk" in my Drunken League series. That's a bummer because it's a shit ton of work. Anyway, none of that is your fault of course. I just wanted to compliment your video, but I ended up word vomiting all over it. Whoops. GG
Yeah I totally get it the lack of text change can be a deal breaker! I'll look into it more and see if it's possible, if it is this would be a great option for you :)
Scoby that would be nice, but don't trouble yourself too much. I finished the video the hard way lol. It turned out nice but it definitely would have been easier with this method.
Happy to help! Yes I'm Irish :) I think you need to be a UA-cam partner if part of an MCN. Then you need to hit 5k subs (if I remember correctly), then you can apply through your channel dashboard and setup perks and different things there :)

@@Scoby thank you for the quick reply. I found my mistake, i had to drag the timeline copy onto my original timeline. I was dragging the 'title' onto the original timeline and it appeared pink instead of green. Thank you anyways
I am having the same issue, I believe I am following every step, many many tries and the timer always resets after slicing it so i cant have the clock stop anytime.
@@nichodameus The timecode generator needs one CONTINUOUS layer over your designated area in order to keep running continually. Instead of placing the timecode filter on the spliced clip itself, 1. Create an adjustment layer or a transparent video layer and place it somewhere above your spliced clips. 2. Stretch it to cover the duration you want the timer to run. 3. Apply the timecode filter to the adjustment layer or transparent video layer and set the controls to CLIP. This will generate timecode for the adjustment layer or transparent video layer. @@Pendulumnew1 ah I see. With our method it's tricky, you would need to create 2 of what I show here, one that is limited to 99(for cents), the other will work for dollars(could be unlimited). Then you would need to create a repeat where it goes through 99 cents, resets and the dollar one ticks on point. The background is easy, just import a video or image and scale the numbers to fit inside as you need. I think, to keep the timer on a certain frame, you could also add a "hold frame" and just extend the clip.

decrease the speed of the reference video (and be sure to change the opacity to zero)

how to change the font?
It's not possible to change font sadly, it's an Adobe limitation
how can i extend the number up to 100,000,000 ):
Just extend the line that far, its going to be a lot....
@@Scoby But no commas
! If after cutting the number drops to zero, it is essential to go to control effect and put offset to the desired number !
