    I have experienced the same thing years ago in the African braiding shop when my daughter was about 13. I was telling them how my daughter wants her hair and don’t braid it too tight around the edges. My daughter told me they started talking about me and calling me stupid. I stopped going there. So do agree with this sister and you.

    I’ve had my hair braided at African braid shops twice, each time my hair was snatched to the gawds. Hair on fire! Needless to say, they will never get in my hair again! You won’t have any!

      That's why they do it! A Kenyan girl posted online about them doing voodoo that she said they called it braiding secrets into your hair so your hair can fall out, which her people told her the same thing as my American Negro people do. Don't let just anybody in your head and not everyone has a grown hand. Always watch what hair style they have on their own heads too. Best option is to don't go to them and find your own people that do hair. The level of their hatred is unreal.

    I'm amazed at immigrants' mindsets when coming to a new country. I was born and raised in Canada from Toronto, and I noticed this behaviour from Asians, South Asians, and Africans. The immigration office needs to do better. I recall seeing a documentary about Switzerland making it difficult for specific countries like the Middle East to bring their backward ways of thinking toward Swiss women.

      Do your own. They'll all learn when their pockets start hurting. So many videos online. But, they are some really good American hair stylist. My girl go to another girl that she met through FB and she's been going to her for years. She can do every style, she doesn't braid too tight, and she's really down to Earth, we've all went out a couple of times.

    So they treat us like some of the Asians do. In America, speak English. It is language of commerce her in America. In the boardroom in America, English is the standard. People have said this about others speaking their native tongues when conducting business in America, whether it Spanish, Mandarin, French, or any other language.     There are ear buds that are language translators. Watch out and look out for people instantly speaking a foreign language around you.

      I speak to my dad in French in public all the time. I feel more comfortable speaking to him in French or Swahili. AAs like to point fingers but never look at yourselves. When I came to America, AAs tormented me when all I wanted was to fit in.

    This is why I UA-cam the process and I do my own. Because they’re fickle in these shops. When folk left the Dominican shops for the blow outs or silk press and moved on to the braids for a lasting style or cornrow for the wigs the shops started rain their prices using cheaper hair over booking and taking lunch in the middle of doing your hair. Lack luster services. It’s crazy. Folk paying car notes for lack luster services. Been there done that. They too have begun to take the customer for granted. They’ve become the round the way nail shops😂

    That’s like my nail salon. They are constantly communicating through their ear pieces. I learned Hangul Korean language when I was little by my uncle I know everything they say. One time a male manicurist told a joke about 2 white females. I laughed and said, “ Oh that’s a good one,I’ve never heard that one before”. You should have seen the look on his face? And he said “ what’s a good one”? I said, “ that joke you just told”. He about fell out of his seat realizing I heard everything they were saying. 😂

    This is nothing new, especially in NY. I witness the same thing at work with the African nurses. My supervisor is an African woman, she moves like this and when I said something she act like she was offended. Yeah I been stop letting them braid my hair!

So now we are going to say its all Africans? She was wrong for generalizing and so are the people on here.     Staff in salons are usually gossips and rude all over the world, even here in Africa. Now that people are interacting more then you get to know each others weaknesses. That is one of reasons most people now plait their own hair. Let's not spread hatred by judging the whole people. I applaud the African sister for standing for what's right. Black is black all over the world, lets hold each other accountable and be a better people for ourselves.

    There are language apps on your phone, have them on when you are obtaining a service and someone is talking in another language around you. If they were speaking french, I suspect the could have been from Senegal.
