I appreciate the mention and genuinely enjoyed your thoughts and what you had to say. And, no doubt….that was DEFINITELY Mike Petty in the bidding photo!! 😂
Lots of good points. For me, I am a much more picky consumer now. I've started using comps with Card Ladder, and have no problem showing them to the dealer. (who actually don't mind and at local shows are unfamiliar with the technology) At the National, I have no problem saying there are 500 Koufax Rookies in the room, and this is what I'm willing to pay. Baseball Cards was the best magazine - the hobby misses those great stories, and I've kept them too.
Good perspective. As veteran collectors, we can see through the grey and limit it. It comes with time in and around the hobby, achieved over decades of dealing with dealers, collectors, pricing and trends. Common sense with wisdom…maybe it is making a return…? I doubt it…haha
Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this topic. I'm with you as well. I never really look up a card at a show, but will use 130point if shopping for a "higher-end" card and my "higher-end" isn't that high LOL.
@@scootscollectibles Thanks Mike! I think just knowing my budget and what I’m willing to pay keeps me in line. The vintage market is pretty steady if you’re paying attention.
I am more surprised in a good way, I think that the Beckett Monthly Magazines are still, in publication. I've bought some at my local Barnes and Noble. Not sure, what the future holds, however, for both the magazine...and the grading company. They had a good run. Even if Beckett, is a shell of itself. Though some of the modern basketball cards in Beckett slabs are competitive with, PSA and SGC. That could be one of the reasons they've been able to hang on by a thread.
@@ACD1994 There still kicking Andrew, everyone keeps waiting for a buyout but I don’t see it. I have a Beckett slab, can get some deals occasionally if there slabbed by Beckett and you buy the card for the card.
I stopped collecting all cards. I felt like a customer chump. I started collecting vintage bullion. You will never look back. Collect money. Best wishes.
Great video. Baseball Cards magazine will always be my favorite hobby publication!!! I wish it was still produced.
@@royals417 It’s my favorite all time read!
Mine too. It always offered so much more than Beckett.

Im hoping Beckett fans don’t cancel me….I appreciate you, your open mind and your videos watch em all. Thanks for the pirate card! Totally Petty. 😂
Very good point! Totally agree! Thx for sharing.
@@Vintage_Dave_T Appreciate the watch.
Thank you for educating us. Please do a show on your opinion of graded and non graded cards. Graded card industry creates alot of questions.
@@MatthewCSeuferwindowsheaven Yeah grading is a whole can of worms to open. I’ll probably dig deeper into it one of these days.

Great thoughts Keith! I don’t even consider your opinion cynical, I actually think it’s common sense. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Keith. Very interesting thoughts and totally understand what you're saying. Thanks for sharing my friend, talk soon pal.

Keith! You cynic, you, lol. A little healthy skepticism is good for us all. Glad to hear your thoughts. Loved the magazines! And that stadium setup 😂

@@baseballcardcurmudgeon Let the fools overpay. More deals out there for us to find! Common sense seems to be in short supply. 😂
Interesting thoughts Keith. I think comps are more applicable to modern cards. Eye appeal means a lot more in vintage and especially lower grades.
@@Redneckclector Yeah I think Vintage overall is much easier to shop with the stable market. Modern market makes no sense to me.

Good stuff! I really liked the baseball cards in the Baseball Card Magazine. Not much of a comps guy either.
Thanks Stuke, gonna show my magazine cards one of these days!
