Not at all related to agriculture personally or prefessionally, but i still dound this very interesting! We can all care about what happens to the people who grow and tend our food! Thank you for all you do.
If we can, we need to get back to farm resilience and diversity. Bad year for one thing? Good year for something else. The one thing that would cure a lot of people's problems would be the abolishment of the property tax. You can be pretty self-sufficient without much cash, if you don't have to cough up property taxes every year.
Thanks for sharing your insights. Are you a farmer or rancher yourself? I agree that diversity is a great strategy for risk management. We talk about it frequently during our monthly membership calls in the RancherMinds program.
@@cattleconvos Alas, no. I have farmers in the family, though, and I grew up in dairy country, and spent my boyhood and early teens on dairy farms. Hat's off to all dairy farmers in Northeastern Pennsylvania. My sister married a farmer here in North Central Idaho. That's a whole different kind of farming. Intense effort, widely spaced. Dairy, it's every day, the same thing, and no time off. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'll be back.
Land rich cash poor, heard that my entire life as I watched the farm families not struggle to get by while the rest of us did. Agriculture is a giant welfare state of its own.

Agreed. Property taxes are the most evil imo.

Land rich and cash poor = the great depression
Cash is overrated. As long as needs are met land is better choice.
Segregation created all things within our existence... The love of life is the love of our earth... The zodiac teaches us that...
Life called - said it was feeling jealous of the earth. I'd advise you to keep the two segregated.
