There is one major problem with this monitor. Dell uses two or even three different panels with different characteristics. These two other panels have much worse contrast (below 1000:1) and are much less accurate in terms of colors. Check comments under Rtings review.

@@sms8717 Nah he's right. Even with backlight bleed, when it's even or not noticeable it makes blacks look 100x better. When the backlight bleed is uneven or large in 1 spot it is very distracting. It's a "feature" of modern cheaply fitted IPS backlights or something.

Bought it on a black friday sale last year as an xmas prsent for my son for direct from dell for just £146.24 after combining some discount codes - unbeatable really.

In Germany this monitor is currently available for ~230 EUR with the XG27ACS going for ~270. thats only a 17% difference for better refresh compliance/response times/input lag, 180Hz and even better color performance - which is probably worth it if you are going to keep the monitor for a couple years. sadly the AOC Q27G3XMN is still 360 EUR around here.

Yes but Asus is using innolux panels as well instead of BOE as reviewed and Innolux has always been worse than everyone even vs LG. Can you still recommend this monitor? It's recent info too, we have no idea how many are Innolux or BOE and where.
The AOC is also rubbish with a host of problems that collectively make it a deal breaker monitor along with all the other budget constraints that came with it.

So many mixed reviews on this monitor from consumers. Some say is trash, others say is the best monitor they've ever used. I usually don't trust a lot of negative reviews since PC gamers are VERY picky. I mean someone in this comment section is saying a monitor that doesn't do 240hz shouldn't be considered a gaming monitor...good god...

    • @Cryotyde

    Thanks for the review.
Someone went around saying they switched to a different panel for this one in some places and there's no coverage on it.
I did however confirm with Asus that the Asus XG27ACS since you reviewed it also uses innolux panels, no idea what percentage, if it's replacing the BOE panels or if it's particular countries, but it was Asus USA. I was originally looking for info on the new XG27ACG which has the same shell as the ACS but is an "AUO" panel.
I've gone back to recommending the G2724D here in Aus as it looks like we still stock AUO for it at the least.

However, you'll need an Ultra Fast HDMI cable ($16), as the original PS5 HDMI cable didn't work for VRR at 1440p. Forget about 4K, 1440p will be the sweet spot for years to come. With Black Friday coming I’m very much considering buying this in hopefully a nice discount. Though in case it doesn’t get discounted: would you say it’s still worth it at €235? Everything here is just (quite) a bit more expensive here in Europe than in the US. For context:
    - AOC Q27G3XMN: sits at €355 at the time of writing. Have seen it come down to €320 (shame it’s so expensive here I really like the idea of true HDR).
    - MSI G274QPF QD: not available in my country.
    - MSI G272QPF E2: sits at a very stable €180. Though I’m very unsure how it compares to the Dell G2724D.
    - Gigabyte M27QA: sits at €260 currently.
    - Gigabyte M27Q: sits at €223.
Lastly: I don’t really care about high refresh rates. I’d always prefer picture quality (colours, contrast, etc)

I have this monitor, bought it 9 months ago. Same issues, reddish/ yellowish tint, around 1000:1 contrast ratio. Fixed by fiddling with the colours in custom mode and changing the max and min brightness settings in the service menu. For some reason max was set to 198 and min to 123 if I recall correctly. I don't have solid evidence that my monitor has a different panel but maybe Dell uses different EU settings in compliance with some energy regulations.

Lg are doing a similar thing with there monitors now putting older panels in new shiny cases and selling them off as new and improved… I was an ultragear fan boy and they definitely still make some of the best monitors out there but this shady repackaging of older panels needs to be pointed out to the consumer more so they understand exactly what there getting. Even some of there new bigger ultragear OLED models where old C1 OLEDs put into a new case and sold as new gaming panels.
