You know there’s something I actually thought about. So everyone knows how when dropping the larynx the voice becomes darker due to the larynx dropping creating an open space in the throat. But what if you had to lower the larynx but only to a small degree? Naturally everyone is used to lowering the larynx to its lowest position but once you get familiar with dropping it maybe you can practice controlling how much it lowers from its regular position. I mean what if there’s a specific character voice that requires you to lower the larynx but not all the way. Normally all the voice breakdowns on this channel that involve dropping the larynx would normally go all the way down but maybe there are character voices that have the larynx dropped only to small degrees.
Make sure everyone checks out the theatrical film “Respect” which comes out August 13th. It stars Jennifer Hudson as Aretha and deals with her life story. If any of you are ever down in Alabama check out FAME recording studios where she recorded early in her career! Cheers!
Nice you legendary iconic soul queen Ms. Aretha Franklin. Now please Do the one and only Legendary iconic Ms. Dionne Warwick. She has the most beautifully unique singer ever.

Do you know who Dimash kudaibergen is? If not, I would love it if you did a reaction to him as well as a vocal analysis ! I recommend listening to him perform SOS and Unforgettable Day
Guys do some tutorial of 'how to sing Thinking out loud' coz it's really hard' Ed sheeran is not using his mix register, but he using something like passaggio! And no vocal coaches did that tutorial exactly how Ed sang that song!
I really enjoyed Arethas young voice, it was more clear. The older she got the more it sounded like she "swallowed her voice" ,even though she didn’t, but the tone had a very hoarse sound to it, imo very throaty, at least this is how I hear it
She may have added that distorted sound on purpose. There is a way to do it that doesn't make you hoarse. It does take a lot of skill though, because it requires you to do many different things at once and focus on not losing control of any of them. That means that you must first be able to sing the same notes at a decent volume with a clean tone. It is easier to dirty up a clean tone than it is to clean up a dirty tone.
I think Aretha Franklin's voice between 1963 through maybe 1973 was the golden age of her voice. This time was the greatest voice ever male of female.
Nice thoughts on this Kenneth! -NYVC
Agreed.
My, my... I have goosebumps all over my body whenever I hear the magical voice of Ms. Franklin!

Okay, I guess the video explained it.. what I mean is she used to mix head voice into her belts, I guess that declined a little overtime
She may have added that distorted sound on purpose. There is a way to do it that doesn't make you hoarse. It does take a lot of skill though, because it requires you to do many different things at once and focus on not losing control of any of them. Is smoking took a toll on her voice. Watch a video by “I love Aretha Franklin” who does a great analysis on her voice through the years.
