@cotopaximusic exactly. Like I just rewatched the trilogy for the first time in years and was caught off guard by that. I totally expected the memes to have been exaggerated
My only gripe with this vid is Bruce didn’t give up being Batman for years because of Rachel’s death. Sure that may have factored into his decision, but the main reasons were because he chose to sacrifice Batman’s reputation to maintain Gotham’s hope and faith in Harvey’s “legacy” and because he was seriously injured from falling from a height that was enough to kill Harvey.
This ^ . And also , let's not forget, he did give up in The Dark Knight Returns as well, after Robin's death and the anti-superhero act. Compare Jason's death to Rachel, and the legislative act to him being a wanted criminal not even Gordon can associate with - similar scenario.
That is literally it's own plot hole. The entire point of it being pinned specifically on Batman is supposed to be, as he says and the movie establishes as a plot arc, everyone knows he won't kill. The entire idea was supposed to be to create a Batman Body Count myth. The third movie clearly is not what was planned for admittedly obvious reasons, but it's still just a wreck.
Something I think pepple forget is that Batman didn't stop operating immediately after TDK. It seems to be implied that he went out for at least a little bit longer, may e 6 months to a year maybe. He got hunted by the police and struggled to stay ahead of them because or his injures until the Dent Act cleaned the streets (albeit under disingenuous pretenses). That, I think, is when he went into seclusion. They really should have shown some of what he was doing in the immediate aftermath of Joker's arrest and Harvey's death and then flash forward however long into the future when the rest of the plot happens.
@@PosthumanHeresyyes Batman will kill even bale’s version killed ras by not saving him the real rule Batman has is no killing with a gun cause Batman has killed on numerous occasions since the rule was established in the comics and in live action appearances can 8 of the nine actors versions of Batman have killed someone directly or indirectly my favorite Batman from the 60’s series and movie killed molly when he failed to save her after she climbed up onto the atomic pile used to recharge the batmobile cause while pulling her up to safety she slipped out of his hand right into the atomic pile dying on impact for example
Any problem with Batman in this trilogy can be traced back to the writer/director. Nolan spends three movies essentially saying that being Batman is not only a bad idea, but anyone with the proper equipment could be Batman. Nolan's Batman lacks the obsession with righting wrongs and seeking justice that makes the character work.
I feel that he lacks the void Batman has, he doesn’t have the void of his parents death that is truly the reason he becomes Batman, he feels like a good Bruce Wayne, but his Batman lacks the true face whereas Bruce is the mask
Also, The Dark Knight screws up Batman's moral core so much that Chris's brother made an entire television show building on the concepts introduced. The BatSonar spy program obviously is the origin of the system in Person of Interest. You know you screwed up when your brother makes a hit TV show about how messed up your idea was.
@@PosthumanHeresy I cqn let that slide because the fact it was messed up was kind of the point. That's why Batman gave Lucius the power to control it and shut it down as soon as they captured the Joker. The ambiguity and the moral compromise forced by the Joker was the point. I'd have an issue with it if it was presented as a good thing, but it wasn't. It was part of his post-9/11 police/surveillance state commentary where he both criticized it and played devil's advocate to leave the audience to draw their own conclusions.
@@Tyler_W Yeah, I just love that his brother clearly was of the mind "the devil needs no goddamn advocate" and made an entire TV show about how even when it's being used for good it's screwed all the hell up.
I mean. The writing gave the best batman lines for bale and a great story for bale. Bale is the one with awful voice and making his lips weird. I'd say you can definitely blame bale as well.
Are you purposely retarded ? He was not responsible for Ras's actions on the train. He stopped the train to save the city but he didn't directly kill Ras. Therefore he could say that to him. In TDK he was directly responsible for joker falling so if he didn't save him, that's murder.
I mean, Batman did push Joker off the building himself while it wasn't really possible to save Ra's from the fast-moving train. This version of Batman is willing to kill if it's necessary, but he doesn't murder or execute someone.
I liked Bale's Batman the most in Begins, a good amount in Knight & found him decent in Rises. Didn't stick the landing. In Begins, I felt like this Batman could have become a future Justice League co-founder. Begins would have been perfection if the fight scenes were shot & edited better. It was that movie that made me leave the theater wanting to be Batman for the 1st time in my life. When I was 17.
Its negligible in batman begins. Its more of a hushed tone or a whisper barring the two or three times he yells. The next movie comes along and its his yelling growl the whole time.
Problem is The ending of the dark knight doesnt match With the begining of the dark knight rises, at The ending of the dark knight when Batman takes the blame he never makes it seem as If he is going to retire, The ending basically tells you that even if batman has all of gotham against him, he is still gonna do his job, With all odds against him. And then the dark knight rises comes in and for some reason chose to have Bruce retired even if thats not what The previous movie ending implied. Its like Nolan changed his mind between movies because he kinda wanted to adapt the dark knight returns.
Bruce does a voice in the comics too. 'Deep and raspy' is a pretty accurate description. He even uses it around people who KNOW his identity. I remember Dick complaining that Bruce was doing the voice once when it was just them in the cave. And Tim once remarked that Bruce is so used to doing it that he has to actively make sure he speaks in a normal voice while going about his days as Bruce Wayne. Now obviously, the voice in Nolan Batman sounds goofy but it's clear they were at least trying to be faithful to the comics.
When Jean-Paul Valley takes Bruce's place as Batman after Bane break's Bruce's back, Robin helps Jean Paul master the art of improvising as Batman, and he describes Batman's voice as a "hoarse, grating voice." But I never liked Christian Bale's take on it.
I never understood why people made an issue over Batman's deep raspy voice...after hearing the comparison, I get it now. He really did do it well in the first movie.
I saw The Dark Knight in theaters when it came out at 7 years old, I honestly loved him as The Batman. Maybe it’s nostalgia but I loved the complexity of the character throughout the trilogy and heath ledger’s joker inspired my world view (rip). But I can admit that Robert Patterson is a perfect on screen representation and blend of the comics and a realistic approach, very excited for the next movies.
I agree that the decision to have Bruce become a mopey emo for eight years was terrible. That is not at all what was set up at the end of The Dark Knight. When Batman tells Gordon to set the dogs on him, and Gordon says they’re goi g to chase him and that he can take it, that signals that he’s going to go deeper and more hardcore into being Batman than he ever has before-not that he’s going to freaking give up and cry lol.
When people talk about the voice. I’m always waiting for people to talk about his character arc. Ranting about the voice isn’t explaining anything about his character arc.
Personally I think his take on the Batman was best in Batman Begins. The suit looked better, the voice wasn't so gravelly, and the movie was more focused on Batman.
Lengthy post ahead but these are my thoughts: Bale is my favorite Batman and Bruce Wayne. The reasons you seem to not like his Batman are what makes him unique to me. This "third entity" is Bruce's rage, where he channels his anger, sadness, emotions and all of those years of training and purpose. Nolan and Bale made it so that the man behind the mask, the real Bruce Wayne is the real persona who essentially vents as Batman. why? "Because as a man, i'm flesh and blood I can be ignored, I can be destroyed but as a symbol...I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting." The voice also doesn't bother me. Pattinson is doing something similar too with the voice. I think it really helps show that the Batman persona is this monster inside Bruce that comes out when he puts that mask on. That's why he still does the voice when he has the mask on..even around people who know his identity. This Batman saw the endgame and greater purpose of saving Gotham. Instead of going out every night to beat up criminals so he could feel better he knew he wanted to just make Gotham a better place. He knew he can't go out and do this forever, he had a short time do so or he will get killed eventually. He let himself become a legend bigger than himself. He didn't need to be out there every night anymore because he actually accomplished his goal. He made Gotham a better place, he restored peace and harmony to its people and passed on the mantle for when the Bat is needed again. I also love that this is an iteration of Bruce that actually got the happy ending he deserved. Also Bruce didn't retire because of Rachel's death. He retired after he apprehended Joker and took down Dent. why? to preserve Gotham's very fractured spirit. He did the most Batman thing of all...he destroyed his own reputation to preserve peace and hope in Gotham. He retired because they "won" the war (temporarily). Rachel's death is not why he stopped. Also you see a fully furnished cave in TDKR and dialogue saying "last CONFIRMED sighting of the Batman" I'm of the belief that for at least a few years he was still active but very very low key until Gordon could handle things without him, acting as a watchful protector.
That's exactly why he's a bad batman. Batman shouldn't have three "entities", he shouldn't be a "man venting as batman" but batman should be his real personality, and everything else you said is true about batman in general I don't know why you're acting like Nolan invented the whole "batman as a symbol" or "bruce fighting the long war" that was always the case even before this trilogy was made
I really believe that the reason Christian Bale did that voice is because Batman is described as intimidating. And to make the character intimidating, he makes a gruff voice. Lastly, say what you want, but Christian Bale is my 3rd favorite live-action Batman, along with: Michael Keaton and Robert Pattinson.
It's what a child would call intimidating. As odd as it is, he should have tapped into Bateman for his Batman voice instead. Batman is 99% of a Slasher Movie Serial Killer, he just won't kill you. Absolutely dead emotionless Batvoice, a hollow suit, would have perfectly fit the concept of Batman As A Symbol. Batman's personality coming across like somehow there is no man inside that suit.
I loved Batman as a kid, and it's still a great movie, but I have far more issues with Keaton's Batman in hindsight than I do with Affleck's, because at least Batfleck's attitude and actions in BVS were examined critically. He was a Batman who had lost his way and needed to grow as a person and find his soul again. Keaton's Batman just goes full on revenge mode and kills more than a dozen people across his movies, and the film doesn't bat an eye at it or treat it as though that might be a problem.
I'm shocked that there'd ever be a dispute over whether or not bruce wayne is the mask and batman is the man. That's literally like, his entire character if not a very large part of it.
I personally believe that of all actors he was the closest to having the best Bruce Wayne persona. Physically i didn’t think he fit the bill of intimidating as Batman like i did with batfleck but overall i see why people say the movies were really good cinema but i really really love the tech scenes with Lucius and same with batfleck with alfred. But i grew up with these and I’ve watched these movies enough to recite word for word the movie and enough for my sister to purposefully ’lose’ my batman movie 😂
The issue with your take on Batman taking the blame for the murders is that they had no other solutions. How can they possibly blame the joker? He was already tied up and getting apprehended by the police. He didn't have any other goons in the building, which was also already surrounded. (Of course Batman escaped on his bike, leading one to question how "surrounded" the building actually was, but I digress). Even if you were to say Joker blackmailed someone to kill those people and Harvey, they'd still need someone to pin it on. I'm not saying I even like that scene myself, but it does make sense, at least on the same level of logic as the rest of the movie. Aside from that, I pretty much agree about his Batman in Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises
Batman Forever also had him doing some detective work, with him and Alfred in the batcave working out Riddler’s riddles. Regardless, the older movies certainly didn’t show it a lot.
In Batman 89, he works out the chemical reaction needed to trigger the Smile-X toxin Joker put in Gotham's beauty products. I think that was the closest we ever got. The other movies, he just works out the solution off the top of his head like the Adam West show
not a hot take with me. been saying this for years. bale's wayne really does capture the mask of bruce wayne: the well meaning yuppie who blows money like made but still does the right thing. if you told me that he was spending his nights, jumping off roofs and beating up criminals, i'd say you were crazy.
Batman is the persona. Bruce is the mask This was clearly and unequivocally cemented as truth and canon in the Trial of Bruce Wayne arc, when Batman admitted as such.
Batman Begins he was ok and the voice was passable. The other two - it honestly baffles me how the film made it past the test screenings. It was so clearly ridiculous.
The thing I dislike the most about Christian Bale's Batman more than the voice is his willingness to quit. He's so quick to try to quit, even before Rachel dies. Like, he meets Harvey ONCE and is like, "Ok Gotham, I can leave now. Fuck you." My thing is that Batman's no. 1 trait is that HE DOESN'T WANT TO QUIT. In my personal favorite scene in the DCAU, Batman quits in his mid-late 50s. Not because of loss, but because he sacrificed what he stood for in the name of the mission. The mission took its toll in a way that harmed him on a personal level that made him realize that he couldn't go anymore, but he damn sure wanted to. That's just my two cents tho
Christian Bale's "Batman" role diminished or at least played second fiddle to the characters around him. Batman became more of a symbol than a man, which was missing from his portrayal as the Dark Knight Trilogy moved on. That was the whole purpose of the story with Bruce Wayne and the legacy he wanted to leave. Christian Bale is the consummate actor and puts everything into his acting, but due to the story Nolan wants to tell, I think Batman was overtime became less of a priority. Thank you, Vee
The suit always made think "what if Ironman made swat uniforms?" 😅I would have prefered if this suit's style "armor" was an undersuit, with a look more like Keatons over it, to give a more bat appearance and so creating the look criminals would fear. These suits just looked too swat like to me.
15:17 "The fingerprint would have been wiped off as soon as the bullet hit the wall; There is no way you can get a fingerprint on a bullet that is still in its casing. The bullet isn't exposed from the casing until it's actually fired from the gun."
Once Bruce told Terry (Batman beyond” that he knew the voice in his head wasn’t him cause it kept calling him Bruce. To which Terry asked him what he calls himself. Bruce just smiled…. You are correct. He IS Batman not Bruce.
I agree, when Bruce Wayne puts on the mask he becomes his true self. Super man's secret identity is Clarke Kent whereas with Batman it's the other way round, Bruce Wayne's secret identity is Batman if you get what i mean
I think the 3 identities take is how it should be. Except in the beginning. A young, broken, and angry Bruce like what you see in The Batman, absolutely should be fully engrossed in the batman persona, with "bruce wayne" being secondary. Bruce wayne: billionaire playboy socialite is a facade to avoid suspicion of being batman. But batman: the angry masked vigilante who strikes fear into those who prey on the fearful, imo, is another facade to mask the pain, fear and vulnerability that bruce sees in himself every day. But as he gets more comfortable in both roles, builds bonds and trust with others through both roles, befriends other heroes and gains his own support system in the form of alfred and the bat family, becoming a pseudo-father in his own right, it would make sense for his true identity to eventually meet somewhere in the middle, as bruce/batman comes to terms with his inner conflicts and his own sense of self. Bruce wayne/batman the damaged and flawed, but ultimately compassionate philanthropist, father, and son, who wants to inspire hope and make the world a better place is who the man is under both masks.
I will always still love this movie But now that I think about it,I see a similarity of when people complained about Luke Skywalker’s shift from a powerful Jedi knight,to a coward like old man,who just gave up,while Bruce also pretty much did the same thing.
He didn’t just quit because of Rachel’s death. Harvey’s death at his hand was part of it, also heaths death forced them to change the plans for the third one which the joker was supposed to be in…
I'm 100% sure that Nolan told Bale to act like he was playing Hannibal Bates (American Psycho) again whenever he was playing Bruce Wayne, and you can NOT convince me otherwise.
yes, please make said video it'd be awesome to hear your explanation about the batman person and bruce wayne mask I've always thought that myself. i always said that he dedicated his entire life to perfect batman (physically and mentally), and bruce was just an act edit: it was pretty cool to see you in brian's hogan knows best video. when is the next wrestling video coming out and will yhere ever be another colab with the hawk ?
Back in the days I liked this trilogy of movies. And that one video game was cool. But, looking at it now, as a 30 years old man, there is many things that is wrong with it. Like, Batman's armor that looks like some custom cheap cosplay try on the character. His voice, that sounds like he has a throat cancer. The fighting scenes, in which you can't even tell what the hell is happening. His car, that looks like it's about to fall apart at any second. His airplane, that looks like some random ufo, made by some random guy from the internet. And many other things. Sure, there is many cool scenes in that trilogy, but they are not enough to make that trilogy perfect. And that is why I like version of Batman from Zack Snyder movies. Because he looks brutal, he looks like Batman straight out of Frank Miller's Return of the Dark Knight comic book. Because his suit looks cool. He fights and you can see everything on the screen. And his vehicles looks like those that you would believe in, that they will work for sure. And he doesn't need to have a throat cancer to talk. He simply uses voice modulator, to sound different. And you can actually see, that when he does his job, he comes prepared. Something that The Dark Knight trilogy lacks. But the best design of Batman is in video games. Which is the Arkham series, which is still the best Batman video game series and will stay that way forever.
Great video Vee . I fully agree w all your criticisms of his batman & etc . As I’ve gotten older I’ve seen these same flaws and missteps so It’s cool hearing someone who thinks the same thing too . Bale is a fantastic actor still of course ,and his Bruce Wayne is great and so r these movies 👌.
Batman is who he really is, Bruce Wayne is a facade. Christian Bale is an epic actor, i've loved him since 93. he does miss the mark as the Bat in Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises but gets Bruce right
10:06 It was not Rachels death that made him stop being Batman, it was Harvey. Batman decided to take him as an allie and that put him in danger and as Harvey himself said “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself becoming the villain”. Batman died and became the legend, but Harvey lived and became the villain (Two-Face)
His batman in Begins was great. But from Dark Knight, yeah it seemed to dip in quality. I think it's because they kind of made him a reluctant hero looking for a way out, whereas in the comics and the first film, he was driven to defeat crime by himself etc.
And I’ve always said the Dark is a great “Crime Drama” as opposed to a great “Superhero Movie”. As good as it was, it completely failed at portraying the attributes that make him a Superhero- his GOAT fighting skills and genius level intellect. Bales’ had arguably the weakest fight scenes out of all Batman films and did absolutely no detective work
Well I think Vee Infuso is wrong, Christian Bale was a great Batman. Batman didn't quit due to Rachel's death, it was due to taking the blame for Harvey Dent's death to prevent all the hard work Dent had done to clean up Gotham from being undone.
I think Vee has very strong opinions on a lot of things about Batman and I wouldn't take him as an authority. he's just an entertaining guy that really likes Batman.
gatta disagree here. nolan's batman was a take on if batman's cheesy rogue gallery were in some way terrorist so batman had to be crafted as a tactical navy seal last line of defense type of beast. and nolan nailed it
Because YOU asked (last time you asked, somebody replied "Who cares. It's just a movie."): Even if Batman could get the fingerprint from the shattered bullet by reconstructing... whatever the hell he reconstructed, that's not even the part that the shooter would have touched. The shooter touched the shell casing that the bullet came out of! 😂😂😂
The voice wasn’t that bad. It was not to interrogate but it was the suit that changed his voice to hide his famous identity. It made him being a famous billionaire more believable that no one knew it was him.
I agree with many of your points however one I don't agree with is Batman giving up after Rachel's death. He gave up not because he lost her but because he was the cause of her death. Joker says he was amazed at how Batman threw himself after her as she fell from the balcony and so it was clear that joker knew something special was up. He pitted her against Harvey and then lied about which was where that way he could learn which one meant most to him AND kill that person at in one action. Bruce couldn't deal with th guilt of his being the catalyst to her death and that is why he quit, mot from heartbreak, but from guilt and a fear of hurting others
I too love anything Christian is in, however him being a better Bruce than Batman makes complete sense if anyone’s heard the infamous rant on the set of Terminator Salvation, he’s naturally an arrogant narcissist.
He didn't give up being Batman because Rachel died. He gave it up because, at the end of the Dark Knight, he took the blame for Dent dying and so EVERYBODY would be out hunting him down. Plus, Gotham didn't really need him until Bane/Talia showed up.
My only pushback on the Batman-character analysis, is that I do think it makes sense (under the circumstances) for Batman to take the blame for Harvey's death. (1) he did kill Harvey, albeit accidentally, and until film 3 (or just after film 2) he's a responsible character. (2) he had already learned that the Gotham criminals didn't fear him as much as he wanted anymore. Going this route helps him re-establish that. (3) He didn't want to risk Dent's plan to lock up the organized crime gangs, by an implication that Dent was insane. Admittedly, I'm not sure that would really be a problem as until "the Dent Act" was passed between films the plan didn't depend on Dent's character. (4) On a meta-level, this choice calls back to one of the inspirations for the Batman character, the Green Hornet (and arguably the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh from the Dr. Syn book series.) What I don't believe is that he gave up almost immediately trying to be Batman at all. He could tech his way around any injuries he had accrued after ~1.5 years of being Batman; his fall that killed Dent clearly didn't hurt him that much but also he could tech around that, too (film 3 shows he's entirely prepared to do that if he cares to, although he's out of practice); and like you said he would double-down after Rachel's death, not quit out of guilt for it. The bizarre plot choices for TDKR (and there are many, many of them) cascade from needing time and opportunity for Bane to infiltrate into Gotham without Batman detecting and stopping (or at least hampering) it.
I've been watching, thank you, sir. I don't always agree with your opinions, especially in this case, but you are well argued and put out excellent content.
Finally!! I'm glad people stopped pretending like he was the best. Also, am I the only one that noticed his fighting style looks like he's swatting at flies??
No you ain't, I always felt like his fighting skills were way to basic to be batman, I mean isn't batman suppose to be a very skilled fighter who can take out groups of enemies almost effortlessly with little to no struggle.
I remember very little about Bale's Batman, honestly. The Bruce Wayne moments were amazing though. His conversations with Alfred throughout the trilogy and his prison escape in Rises are incredible and stick out to me the most. I didn't find his voice strange at the time, but after rewatching the series a few years ago I noticed just how BAD his voice actually is. It worked best in Begins for some reason. I feel like Pattinson has the perfect Batman voice- it's got the edgy tone of Bale without sounding like a parody.
That Tale of Two Cities comparison gave me a nice chuckle at the end. Someone told me that if you pay attention to the Dark Knight Rises, it's plot is very similar to The Tale of Two Cities
Relating to when Bruce Wayne is truly himself, I want to say it's his Batcave. Hidden below everything else. Where the things most important to him dwell. His fear, his family(when they visit or help), and his power.
The dark Knight Trilogy is'nt about Batman. It's about Bruce Wayne. His Journey. Batman was just a short part of his life... The three personas made just prfect sense in this story!!!
All the actors that played BATMAN/BRUCE WAYNE did a good job. None of them were portrayed exactly the same. That's why it WASNT boring to keep watching each movie. Complaining changes nothing.
His Batman voice in Batman Begins was much better than the other two movies.
Yep

Problem is The ending of the dark knight doesnt match With the begining of the dark knight rises, at The ending of the dark knight when Batman takes the blame he never makes it seem as If he is going to retire, The ending basically tells you that even if batman has all of gotham against him, he is still gonna do his job, With all odds against him. And then the dark knight rises comes in and for some reason chose to have Bruce retired even if thats not what The previous movie ending implied.
Its like Nolan changed his mind between movies because he kinda wanted to adapt the dark knight returns.
I think the passing of heath changed that
Bruce does a voice in the comics too.
It was something that just doesn’t translate well
When Jean-Paul Valley takes Bruce's place as Batman after Bane break's Bruce's back, Robin helps Jean Paul master the art of improvising as Batman, and he describes Batman's voice as a "hoarse, grating voice." But I never liked Christian Bale's take on it.
I never understood why people made an issue over Batman's deep raspy voice...after hearing the comparison, I get it now.
He really did do it well in the first movie.
Why didn't Batman just fake an accent?
@@d3l3tes00n That would sound dumb

I think Ledger's passing maybe impacted the story more than we think for dark knight rises which is why it turned out the way it did maybe.
When people talk about the voice. I’m always waiting for people to talk about his character arc. Ranting about the voice isn’t explaining anything about his character arc.
Yeah and imo the voice was really good in Batman begins
Character arc? He was barely Batman at all in this universe.
It does explain why many of us can't stand to listen to him talk... in turn, making the Nolan trilogy UNWATCHABLE.
I mean, he sounds retarded.
@@Neethan3247 good for you man! 😃
Okay, talk about the character arc then.
Personally I think his take on the Batman was best in Batman Begins. The suit looked better, the voice wasn't so gravelly, and the movie was more focused on Batman.
Lengthy post ahead but these are my thoughts:
Bale is my favorite Batman and Bruce Wayne.
You have destroyed every argument in this video.
Pattinson is copying Keaton dude. I don't see ANY Bale in him. The voice, the "lifeless stare" etc...
That's exactly why he's a bad batman. Batman shouldn't have three "entities", he shouldn't be a "man venting as batman" but batman should be his real personality, and everything else you said is true about batman in general I don't know why you're acting like Nolan invented the whole "batman as a symbol" or "bruce fighting the long war" that was always the case even before this trilogy was made
You tackled basically every problem I have with The Dark Knight trilogy in a very thoughtful way. Thanks for an interesting and entertaining video.
This might just be subjective, but the voice isn’t intimidating at all. He just sounds like he’s a chump trying to sound intimidating.
@@azaanimations319 🤣 right?
It's what a child would call intimidating. As odd as it is, he should have tapped into Bateman for his Batman voice instead. Batman is 99% of a Slasher Movie Serial Killer, he just won't kill you. Absolutely dead emotionless Batvoice, a hollow suit, would have perfectly fit the concept of Batman As A Symbol. Batman's personality coming across like somehow there is no man inside that suit.
@@PosthumanHeresy mmm, I see.
It’s about time society accepted this truth.
Exactly like let it go, people get so butt hurt when I say this lol
I accepted it long ago, but people refuse to hear anything that doesn't proclaim The Dark Knight as best comic book movie of all time
And Keaton is the best Batman but worst Bruce Wayne.

"Where's the trigger?...you never gave it to an ordinary citizen!!" was the worst of Bale's Batman line delivery in trilogy.
First two movies 89 and 92 was masterpieces. Keaton had that magic.
I'm shocked that there'd ever be a dispute over whether or not bruce wayne is the mask and batman is the man. That's literally like, his entire character if not a very large part of it.
I think the dispute is that neither are truly the man. Batman embodies much of him but, it's not everything. there is more to him than just batman.
You'd be less shocked if you read Batman Ego which at best proves Batman is a part that makes the whole and at worst a monster that Bruce has to tame.
Just to add, the voice can’t be put on Bale. That was entirely on Nolan
Keaton's Bat was great because he didn't talk a lot. he talked when he needed
@@GoddessOfWhim2003 but that's more of a testament to the writing/editing than Keaton himself

He was best as Batman in “Batman Begins “!
I preferred Michael Keaton's Batman
not a hot take with me. been saying this for years. bale's wayne really does capture the mask of bruce wayne: the well meaning yuppie who blows money like made but still does the right thing. if you told me that he was spending his nights, jumping off roofs and beating up criminals, i'd say you were crazy.
Batman is the persona.
Bruce is the mask
This was clearly and unequivocally cemented as truth and canon in the Trial of Bruce Wayne arc, when Batman admitted as such.
No? Batman Ego makes it very clear that at best Batman is a part that makes the whole and at worst a monster that Bruce has to tame.
Bale’s acting as the role makes me wish he came back for Batman v superman and hell even connected the dark knight trilogy
We didnt watch the Dark Knight for Christian Bale... We watched it for Heath Ledger.
Who is we? Like you and you'r mom? 😂
Man,i just take it as a different interpretation of Batman
The suit always made think "what if Ironman made swat uniforms?" 😅I would have prefered if this suit's style "armor" was an undersuit, with a look more like Keatons over it, to give a more bat appearance and so creating the look criminals would fear. These suits just looked too swat like to me.
Yes I fully agree he was not the best Batman but he was definitely the best Bruce Wayne
I agree, I loved his Bruce but his batman was rather unimpressive.

Yeah I remember hearing that audio of him cussing out the crew on a movie set. Giving me the impression he could be a tad bit hard to work with.
I argue that no actor has played a good Batman AND a good Bruce Wayne. They only even nail one or the other. It's a hard dichotomy to get right
It never sit right with me when batman decided he was just going to hang up the cowl, as if he was spiderman
I don't like Hollywood's obsession with heroes quitting storylines, it was out of character for batman to do that

For the time it was released, Nolan's triology was great. Sure it does have some issues but I would take it over the crap made by Tim Burton any day.
He didn’t quite mail the Batman voice but he was excellent in all other areas.
Yup. For me Michael Keaton had the best ballance between being both batman and Bruce Wayne.
Meh. He’s still my favorite!! 🖤💙🖤
I will always still love this movie
But now that I think about it,I see a similarity of when people complained about Luke Skywalker’s shift from a powerful Jedi knight,to a coward like old man,who just gave up,while Bruce also pretty much did the same thing.
If I remember rightly, in Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, the Batman voice was 'fixed' in post by sound effects department.
I don’t agree that he was bad as Batman, but not great. He was easily the best Bruce Wayne through.
He didn’t just quit because of Rachel’s death. Harvey’s death at his hand was part of it, also heaths death forced them to change the plans for the third one which the joker was supposed to be in…
He was cool in begins, but his horrible bat voice ruined it in DK and DKR
I'm 100% sure that Nolan told Bale to act like he was playing Hannibal Bates (American Psycho) again whenever he was playing Bruce Wayne, and you can NOT convince me otherwise.
I hate the Batman voice, but he was great as Bruce Wayne.

Finally someone says it.
Who has the best voice for Batman other than Conroy? I vote Kilmer
He became Batman because his parents died but he quit because he thought the Batman was the reason Rachel died
Bales’ had arguably the weakest fight scenes out of all Batman films and did absolutely no detective work
I respectfully disagree; he was a great Batman! 😎
happy watching thank you sir
in all fairness, some of these criticisms can be chalked up to the writing
Happy watching, thank you sir
Well I think Vee Infuso is wrong, Christian Bale was a great Batman. Batman didn't quit due to Rachel's death, it was due to taking the blame for Harvey Dent's death to prevent all the hard work Dent had done to clean up Gotham from being undone.
Its a goofy perspective being given here.

The voice wasn’t that bad. It was not to interrogate but it was the suit that changed his voice to hide his famous identity. It made him being a famous billionaire more believable that no one knew it was him.
Man I’m glad someone pointed this out. This mf quit being Batman for 8 years because Rachel didn’t wnna be with him and for Harvey. That shit is trash
Christian Bale is on record in saying that he thought Bruce Wayne would disguise his voice as Batman. That's all it was, a bad creative decision.
He didn't give up being Batman because Rachel died. He gave it up because, at the end of the Dark Knight, he took the blame for Dent dying and so EVERYBODY would be out hunting him down. Plus, Gotham didn't really need him until Bane/Talia showed up.
9:00 for some reason i forgot this scene wasn't in the movie because the cowl looks the worst here
My only pushback on the Batman-character analysis, is that I do think it makes sense (under the circumstances) for Batman to take the blame for Harvey's death. Syn book series.)
What I don't believe is that he gave up almost immediately trying to be Batman at all.
Damn that's a hot take... For me he was a great Batman but his stand-outs moments to me were as Bruce Wayne.
Not a hot take. Majority of people just don't understand Batman.
I'm curious what there was acting wise to like about this batman, genuinely.

Michael Keaton Cowl is unmatchable
Relating to when Bruce Wayne is truly himself, I want to say it's his Batcave.
Hidden below everything else. Where the things most important to him dwell. His fear, his family(when they visit or help), and his power.
The dark Knight Trilogy is'nt about Batman. It's about Bruce Wayne. His Journey. Batman was just a short part of his life... The three personas made just prfect sense in this story!!!
His Batman voice was ridiculous
All the actors that played BATMAN/BRUCE WAYNE did a good job. None of them were portrayed exactly the same. That's why it WASNT boring to keep watching each movie. Complaining changes nothing.
