I have owned these bikes twice in my life and they all time favorites. The sound and acceleration is breathtaking. I am told that fewer than 300 are still around. Very rare.
I remember purchasing my 1984 Kawasaki 750 turbo in October of 1983. I had the first one in town. It felt so awesome to wring it out on the back roads of North Carolina
Probably one of the better turbo bikes, at least its powerband was smooth. The old dealer added 903 Z1 Turbo was just a beast, it'd burble then hit boost like a sledge hammer and sky the front end. Thanks for sharing!
god man !!!that noise and the digital boost gauge just took me back over 30 years - what a noise these used to make - I used to love the whistle of the turbo !brought mine -reg c447vfd brand new from Kawasaki city in west brom - what a fucking luntic bike !!must have crashed it ten times - ended up running with no fairing - just the aluminium bit -and at one point with no silencers - used to sound like a helicopter - best bike I ever owned and this vid has truly taken me back - cheers and hold on tight when you hit six grand !!!!!!
I bought one of these off the show room floor back in '85. Took me a while to gather the nerves to really get on it too. Awesome bike man! Maybe I'll go shopping today....
A mate of mine bought a GPX 1100 new, soon after the 750 turbo came out. He found one offered in some bike mag so he just had kick some tyres, unfortunately the Geezer selling it let him have a go, he went down the road on his bum, the old rule dictates you drop it you've bought it. Two bikes in the garage his wife went ballistic as you can imagine, that ended that relationship. :0)
Love the vid Man! I used this bike as a dispatch rider back in the day, best three years of my life and the soundtrack,,,,,,on a Harris race pipe-Anita Baker go back to school!
I added a mr turbo kit to mine. Best $1800 i have ever spent. Currently set at 13psi which is the max you wanna run on a stock engine. Can go all the way to 30psi. Maybe after the first rebuild??
I owned a nearly new Kawa.tubo '84, Couriered on it, thrashed it daily Countess times ?, Superb for high speed Planted Biking travel, it was Joyous. March '19, no bike Kawasaki for 27 years, got a 05 GSF Bandit 650 inj., Wow 58, 59 times more biking joy than the turbo. 20, 21 months of Blessed Bandit Time Times, quickly got a PhD Masters Degree in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical. Now a HOPEFULLY only, semi retired Crazy Mad Banditateer, FEKKIN Banditless Banditaholic, ruined for any other bike, and I ain't even lying. Yours truly Scott Loch. Na, Professor Bandit B.T.E. Torque Enjoyment only, out.
had one of these for 3 very happy years. This sound of this vid actually captures the low rev "burble" of the the engine and the high rev turbo "raaaarrrp!!" that I remember. Love it!!. i'm going to own another as soon as I can, most fun I ever had on a bike, And strangely, the only one I never crashed. the stories I could tell of this thing would not be believed. But most owners on here would know what I mean lol....when the turbo kicked in , was like a giant with a sledge hammer smashed you from behind...just don't fit cheap shit tyres on it, the jeepeezed will not be happy.
A great slice of motorcycling history......... For the interested, Kawasaki News UK - on UA-cam - there's an upload of the original press release footage - it's worth a watch :-)
Love this, no other traffic around but only criticism is go out on a lonely road (not in suburbia) where an innocent wont get hurt if it goes pear shaped.
very very very nice bike ! i have the same gpz but ... N/A. i have a question, why your boost peak is at 10 psi and fall at 5 psi when you shift ? electronic boost controler ?
+Alex MG That's a good question. When I shift on my XJ Turbo the pressure gauge flips to maximum for a moment. When the inlets are closed abruptly the pressure increases for a moment and the security-valve opens.
Had an 83 Honda Interceptor 750 back in the day and ran into a guy at a motorcycle shop who owned one of these. He let me take it for a spin but I was too intimidated to open it up after that turbo started kicking in. I kept it the rpms low and brought it back to him in one piece. Watching Top Gun put the GPZ900 on the map and I had to have one after seeing Tom Cruise on one. I miss that bike but I knew I had to get rid of it because of the speed and adrenaline rush.
I had seen all the magazine articles on the pre-release of the 1984 Kawasaki 750 turbo in the Summer of 1983. I knew that I just had to get one. As soon as I received my US Army reenlistment bonus, I down to my local Kawasaki dealer and said I wanted the first one that came in. I even made a $5500 deposit. Not a month after I got my turbo the 900 Ninja came out. That was the bike I really wanted. Unfortunately, the dealership only offered me $3000 for my trade in. So, I decided to keep the turbo. I still have it
How do you get rid of the wind noise? I have a Go Pro Hero 2 mounted to the top of the warning lights on the right of the key and even with tape over the mike I get too much.
Nick...for under $20,get yourself a "Audio-Technica ATR3350 Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone". Its the cheapest way of getting great sound results from your gopro. Mount it where ever you can approximately 12" from your exhaust outlet.
you need to tweak your wastegate, these are supposed to run 12psi boost stock, i ran 14 most of the time on mine!...oh yea, clip the brown wire on the ecu.
nice vid mate no bullshit like the yankee vids 5 mins of bullshit im going to ride this bike blagh blagh and also unlike the yank vids you properly get up it goes well i grew up on rg 250 ,lots of sports 250 yzf 600 cbr 929 cbr 1000 rr but still want one of these and a 85 gsxr 750
More cunning than brave Jonny VT...Don't know what country you live in...But here in Australia the law can use this as evidence against you...BTW no speed limits were broken here ;)

htmonaro so a POV video of you on your motorcycle while recording your speedometer reading will somehow make you loose your license? Lol I mean if it's broke that's ok but I hope you were just joking lol how in the world would you post a video of you hitting a high top speed and magically just instantly loose your license lol? Btw... BEAUTIFUL BIKE!! It's the version I WISH I had :( 😭I own a 1984 GPZ550 (ZX-550 A-1) and my uncle has the 1985 GPZ 750 (sadly non turbo) beautiful bike mate enjoy the ride and I hope you still had it cheers 🍻
htmonaro I live in the states wo maybe that's why but that is absurd I was just saying that they had no way to know your exact personal license plate # that's all I ment ... Didn't mean any disrespect at all your bike is beautiful and I wish I had the model that you do lol! I hope you still have it and still running as smooth in this vid

This was the first turbo (anything) that I ever drove. It nearly shot out from underneath me when the turbo kicked in. Good times at 17.
Wow my dream bike in the day,I had gpz750.thanks for showing this and advice don't ever let that bike go

summersavannah01 thanks for the awesome story man, stay safe out there.
summersavannah01 Badass bike!
Love it. I used to have one of these - ran mine with extra boost and with no silencer. Great bike. Great to see one running.
Was it easy to make extra boost?
@@user-rb9oo7tc2x fairly certain you can just adjust the wastegate pushrod
@@richardbehning9669 I want one lol

That thing rips and sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic, music to my ears, beautiful example of a fantastic machine, look forward to more vids.

Nice bike! Love the sound
Sound's fantastic!!! Miss mine
Congratulations what a sound !
Brilliant! Thanks for posting
Love that the speedo never moves :) I have always loved these. However, I was and still am a GPZ900R owner :)
I had one with a defective waste gate. Made 20PSI.. Ate EVERYTHING on the road LOL! I miss that bike so much! Comfortable and Fast as "F".
Man o man, Awesome Aussie made video mate, that sound is just insane, surely that is not the standard exhaust😁😁

I love that the speedo is unhooked. Lol
Those year gpz's were prone to speedometer cables breaking. So you got to a point to stop replacing them
Love the sound of it

very very very nice bike ! i have the same gpz but ... N/A. i have a question, why your boost peak is at 10 psi and fall at 5 psi when you shift ? electronic boost controler ?
+Alex MG Pressure is released via a BOV..."blow of valve" in between shifts.
yes, but the pressure was not at 10 psi after shift, at full throttle no ? sorry for bad english... i'm French ^^
+Alex MG
That's a good question. When I shift on my XJ Turbo the pressure gauge flips to maximum for a moment. When the inlets are closed
abruptly the pressure increases for a moment and the security-valve opens.
+Felix Kuhn I'm not familiar with the Yammy turbo and what it does.
+Apex Correct...I treat old school bikes with respect...:)
Wow, owned one in Australia.....miss it!
that is sooo good man
Love the sound of that so kool
I had a 1984. I used to run it with the open exhaust you could really hear to turbo whine.

sounds great
Beautiful
I dream to build a bobber from one of these brutal machines.
That would be more like a nightmare. The Kawasaki turbo bike is too rare to turn it into one of those stupid bobber's that seems to be the fad now
Just been out doing that myself!
sweet man
Awesome! Kawasaki all the way!
What turbine are you using? Nice video
Hows this bike compare to the seca turbo?
Joe D it's the same bike, seca is just the US naming, in case you were still wandering
First 10(.76) sec1/4 mile production M/C!
What about the Z1R-TC? It was by far the fastest!
I got to ask;do you get much grief from the walloppers?
Does the speedo not work or did you disconnect it you cheeky bastard
No need to show the law ...They can bust you for things like this in Australia.
GPZ Power 💪💪💪💪👍👍
I want one. Are these reliable? Easy to source parts?
So do I.yes to the first no to the second. You can about 80% of the parts and you pay through the nose.
Fantastica!!!
So cool man
how fast?
So unreal!!! 😁
Music. 😍
Classic speedo move htmonaro!
neighbourhood might be a bit small for the bike
Haha you have deconecting the speed condo ? Too much sphhhhheeeeeeeed t'sssss ?
I had one and unless my speedo was faulty
I’m sure it got 240 kph top speed not 218 kph that it says in the specs....any one else think that ?
247kph was the best I got 2 up.
Why is your Speedo NOT Working....
Why cant we have turbo bikes anymore they are so cool
no speedo? miles arent being recorded
KPH are not recorded for the law as evidence either ;)
