Nice video l have done this myself but l glued mine because my fence is wooden l think soldering is very good way with chain link ,All the best Colin from Mossend railway oo 😊
Thank you. The appearance of this being a “first time” is real. I’d never done it before then. Of course I’ve soldered but not ‘that’. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching. 😊
Yes, flux core. It’s an ‘off the shelf’ lead free solder. I like the 0.8 mm stuff but this is slightly thicker than that. I DO have a pot of flux you’ll sometimes see on the bench in the shots. That can be handy for larger joints where the iron really isn’t big enough and you are burning through flux. There is a difference between electronic soldering (the stuff I’m fairly good at) and the structural stuff that is almost like brazing (plumbing for eg). You need added flux more often thren.
there is a type of packing wire, for the life of me I can't remember the name. its a single wire with another wound round it. used for security seals. its perfect to coil as razor wire
Great reminder! Thanks. I actually have a couple of bits of that from broken fire extinguisher seals. It’s cut in set lengths and I only have a tiny length of it but thanks… I’ll perhaps use that at the gate when I eventually get that far. Thanks for watching.
yes, that! 😊 we use it on fire extinguishers on aircraft too but I’ve only seen it in lengths of about 5 or 6 cm. I have. couple short bits from when we’ve had to replace seals. good idea though.

Great idea with the razor wire , is the solder that you use pre-fluxed ? Cheers........Peter

Seal wire used on meters and tachos.
