Second PFK now called Mountaineer. I got the sheath along with Micarta green scales and dirty by design blade…
Now this package comes in at SMKWS
$195. A steal… considering it’s solid along with the sheath which I believe is a great sheath… design and finish.
Dave’s team is now imprinting PFK on the blade old school not laser in graved.
I’ve purchased MANY fixed blades over last 40 years…and personally agree… this is a fine blade and USA MADE… I hope PFK continues to do well and hope to see them expand into other camp/hiking type venues.
    Thanks for the excellent review.
Forgot to mention… if your considering one of PFKs knives to give as a gift… they have one hell of a box and include a lifetime warranty card. He still wraps em up tight with plastic and oil… again old school…perfect!

Nice Knife. Here's a thought for the viewers, make your own sheath. It is way easier than one would think. A few simple hand tools and a piece of leather is all it takes. Very inexpensive hobby and you get a one of a kind sheath. Trust me on this, if I can do it, anyone can :).

elk hunter - I have a few Pathfinder knives, and the Kydex sheaths are really nice because they hold the 6” Ferro Rod, and they’re extremely well made. The knives really lock in and have super solid retention. You’re not going to lose your knife.
Plus I love the options of having a leather, or Kydex belt loop depending on your preference. So considering they’re one of a kind for your knife. So they are more than worth the price.

Not doubting the utility of Kydex. Just offering a fun and easy option for those who want to try. 35 years ago the impetus was that I got tired of my Western camp knife constantly flopping around by it's belt loop. Seemed it was always in my way. Just bought some leather and a few tools and made a sheath that has about a 35 degree cant and rides high. Worn at the 11:00 o'clock position that puts the handle right at my belly button ready for use. BTW. With my hand stitching and use of brass rivets it looks very cool. Would fit right into any old western movie. Just my thing.

I have the mountain lion too, due to wanting a jacklore type knife after leaving the UK, but settled for this instead. So far I really like it, it just performs and performs well, due to good feel, balance, and perfect size... Well done to the folks at PKS, it's a winner! Enjoy!

The only knife I carry is a wide Swiss Army knife with multiple tools. For the last 30 years my everyday carry in the wilderness is an old Meat Cleaver I bought at a garage sale for a buck. Carry a small whet stone in my pack to keep it sharp, but I've chopped wood & skinned a deer on the same day. Drilled three holes through the handle & tang which allows to lash on a sturdy branch as an axe handle for chopping wood. Eliminates the need for an axe & expensive knife.

Here I go again commenting on an older video as if my opinion is relevant or anyone cares. It may be an optical illusion but from the reflection on that knife's grind it sure looks to me like a convex grind. Which is ok, I was raised in the school of convex is best but that was before knives were choppers and battoning became popular. I'm not a snob against the new school, just not the way I was tought. Great video as always.

3 years later its $185 dollar knife. I love Dave's mess kits hoping they dont double in price. Definitely put condor back as the affordable entry level company, I get why pathfinder raised its prices their great quality and finished product which sets it above Condor because they're hit or miss so it only makes sense to charge more but I wish we could rewind the clock 3 years 😂

A sheath is a very personal preference.. just like a knife an a gun . Highly personal.. pks could build a nice leather sheath, and half the folks would bit*ch about it not being kydex. Make it kydex and they'll complain it isn't injection molded. . make it horizontal and they'll complain about a dangler.
I think it's smart to sell just the knife, and not charge for a generic sheath... I'd rather pay 150 for a knife I choose than 220 for a knife I choose and a sheath I don't like..
Everybody fussed about the leather sheath that came with the Benchmade bushcrafter. So I was prepared to make or buy one . Turned out, I love the sheath.

Great looking knife! Love the blade shape and the grind :) Scandi grind is what I am used to. That and full flat are my favorites. The handle shape looks great too. Over all that looks like awesome choice for outdoor knife. I like the versatility. I would probably go for the kydex sheath with it. Sweet blade indeed! And well balanced :) Nice job with the flint and char cloth! Looked so easy :) Awesome review Bryan! Big thumbs up :)

I think he's just showing what kind of chopping results you can expect from that knife, because there are a few out there who care. Not really recommending to use it for that :)

Dave would love seeing you chop with it, especially towards your inner thighs and frank-n-beans.
I mean, I like you and your channel, but c’mon man… show better knife habits and common sense.

I don't consider what I was doing in any way bad or dangerous, I had another branch or a log between the blade and my body AND I was using very controlled chops. The knife wasn't moving more than a few inches at a time. But thanks for your concern for my well-being.

I noticed that too. Pretty damn careless IMO.
