  • Part 2 restoring my Kyosho Optima Mid Custom Special. In this second part I pull things apart like a bull in a China shop and then wonder why I can't figure out how it goes back together. Those that know what they're doing will be yelling at their screens during this one.

The original mids gearbox worked well in stock class back in the day. I worked at a hobby shop at the time and i noticed the gearboxes run in open class had a problem with the idler gear stripping. Im in the middle of building a re re Optima mid and I think that although the metal gears weigh quite a bit they look like they can handle a mod brushless.

That gear on your rear differential is not ok - if you can you should definitely replace it and the 2 other gears in there as well - if only a shelf car, no worries I suppose

It really needed a new diff. But if only for the shelf then guess it’s ok but I would never spend that effort on a car I was gonna run.
