Miss Lois was the best!!! I remember going to what was supposed to be a romper room "meet & greet" with Miss Lois, I begged my mom to go, so she took me. They tried to pass of some other lady as Miss Lois, and I wasn't happy, she wasn't my Miss Lois. 🤣 Same thing happened with Ronald McDonald about the same time, they tried to pass off some schmuck as R. McD, and I didn't buy that one either. I guess because I'm a little 4yo I'm not supposed to know the difference. 🤨🤣

I remember this. I lived in St Louis at this time -- and then moved to Peoria in 1966. I kind of get tickled that both places are mentioned in this clip.

I watched Romper Room in St Louis in this era, Although I have the most common male name (in English speaking countries) of the 20th century, in all the times I watched the show, not once did she ever see "John" in her magic mirror.

Can someone PLEASE help me find the St. Louis archives for this show. My older late brother was on this show with Miss Lois back around 1972. To St. Louis Flashback, how did you come across this episode? Knowing that will help me find the episode that had my older brother on it.

I was on the show in St. Louis. They used tape and they would record over them. So there aren't many tapes around. An old teacher of mine worked at the history museum and said that they had a few tapes. You might start there. Good luck. I wanted to go check and see if I'm on any of them.

I remember being on Romper Room in kindergarten. My sister was so jealous. Playing the instruments in the parade, running around in the cardboard firetruck, eating cookies and watching Casper on the TV screen. The grabbag, guessing what you had in your hand. Seeing the Dailing for Dollars set, and Up With People singing Up, up and Away. Then the sad part of sitting on Miss Lois's lap and getting my picture of her giving me my Doobee the Bee ring, and a kiss goodbye. What a wonderful event in my childhood. Buss buss doobee dance! That's the way to do it. So keep on doing the Doobee Doobee Doobee dance.

I don't suppose anyone knows but the video references the Peoria station WTBH when RR founder Bert Plaster sent a birthday card. Not Saint Louis' KTVI. But Miss Lois is right. Did she maybe start in Peoria and this is actually Peoria history? Or was the founder sending greetings from the Peoria station? I'm confused LOL. Forever, I fear.

at 2:14 ... Either I was just not intelligent enough when I used to do this but I hated doing it. By looking at the kids I don't think the Pledge of Allegiance has one iota of meaning to the kids. Maybe it's a sort of propaganda for kids? I don't know. Please let me know what you think. The founders believed in separation of church and state for a good reason. The pledge came in the 1950s, during the entirely over-blown commie scare, that made a bunch of war state capitalists a lot of money. Money taken, as always is the case with war making, away from local communities. The war in Iraq is STILL, TODAY, RIGHT NOW, costing YOUR local community millions each year, because we are still paying down Bush and Cheney's war lie debts.

@@SRSOS Well, apparently, the commie clean out didn't make it to the school boards and teachers' union. Our elementary school principal in the 1950's, it turns out, was a card carrying communist. Found his (1962) obit in the newspaper recently. Nobody even suspected.
