Oh my. What a Beautiful sight! This past April my Wildlife Biology teacher took a select few of students to his Cabin at Elk County and it was one the best experiences of my life. We actually right down the street from Winslow hill and a mile or two down from the restaurant that serves bugle burgers. We hiked all throughout Moshannon national forest and the nature was unbelievable, we searched for antlers and explored food plots. It was an incredible experience. Definitely going back.
What great captures on video! Thanks for sharing. I was there for the first time tonight and was not able to push record quickly enough to record bugling. I love the sound. What beautiful animals.
This is on Winslow Hill in Benezette. They have several viewing areas that are open to the public. If you make it to Benezette Pa just ask and follow the signs and it is very easy to figure out. They also have a beautiful visitor center with several nice viewing area. Now is a great time to go view, late November should offer some viewing, but this is more of the prime time to go. Hope you enjoy your trip, the local food is great and you can even get an elk burger.
This is an outstanding video!!!! I just went through Driftwood and made a video of a few elk in a field. I was going to put my humble little video online but now that I have seen yours - - - Wow!! I think I'll just leave mine to myself!!! Well done!
+XWingRepair4cheap Thanks, go there in the early fall and the elk are in pre rut and rut behavior and offer lots of video and photo shots. Best of luck to you.
I have a cabin in potter county and have elk in my yard often these are beautiful animals! and I enjoy your videos ! After seeing the damage im trading my rage for a RAMCAT.
Lucky! I go to Potter and spend several days fishing every spring. Beautiful part of PA. Thanks for the kind words and hope that RAMCAT drops a bigun for you this season.
Very slim, from what I understand 56 licenses were awarded in 2011 out of just over 18,000 people who applied. 17 of the 18 antlered licenses were awarded to Pa residents and all the antlerless licenses were awarded to Pa residents.
Hey Fred, thanks for the nice comments on the beautiful scenery. This is PA and not Colorado. I will be in Colorado this year for the first time and I hope to get video of some Elk and landscape.
I live 10 miles from there and yes they are still fairly active that time of year, more so in the spring and early summer, but if you would come to take pics of the area then fall would be better with the mountains and trees changing. Plan to stay a few days because there might be a day where you dont see any, and the next they are all over, and stay in St. Marys where there are decent hotels. Would love to see pics if you do make it.
in case you didn't notice those are Colorado Blue Spruce in the background and Rocky Mountain Elk......both of which are not native to Pa. The eastern elk subspecies is extinct. They were larger and darker in color than the Rock Mountain Elk
Wow...would you mind telling where this is? I see a building behind in one shot. I enjoy wildlife photography and recently learned that Benzette, PA has elk-viewing areas. I'm from Cleveland and would love to take the trip out there (probably late-November) when I'm free. Are these guys viewable at that time of year (latish November)??

What awesome footage! At 2:30 the fog and the silhouettes are amazing.

You go in mid to late October when the elk are walking around town.
are the odds of getting the pick slim or common?
is there elk season in PA
Yes, it's on a lottery pick.
I fish the first day every year up there by Wharton sportsman club!
