    So many of the guard variations that are being used now did not exist when I came up through the ranks. I praise and thank God for access to instruction like this through the internet or I would be totally lost!

    I love that you teach such tight control in every movement. Something lacking even in the higher belts I’ve trained with. So important

    God tier stuff. Bigger guy was absolutely bullying me in this position with insane knee shield and collar grip strength it actually injured my neck but I literally passed has guard with this today. Did not think it possible given the weight/strength difference

    Fantastic sequence and details! Thanks for sharing!
    One question: At 7:01 Andre says "if he's here, you know what to do, the first technique", which is not part of the video as far as I'm aware. What would he opt here for? Legweave? Sidesmash?

    • @atosjiujitsuhq
      @atosjiujitsuhq  7 років тому +2

      side smash!! also dont forget we have all these techniques on our online website!! :)

      whats the side smash? Is it another name for the leg drag?

    • @TheElThomaso
      @TheElThomaso 7 років тому +3

      Varun Mehrotra if you put in "side smash pass" in the search field, literally the first hit is Lovato Jr showing it. The second one is Andre Galvao showing it. Don't be so lazy ;D

    This is great , but does things change if Josh has his left arm under hook deep in ?
    Or can I pass the same way ?

    • @TheDxbrown
      @TheDxbrown 5 років тому

      Good question. I’m assuming you’re talking about Josh having a left hand under hook when Andre is passing to Josh’s right side like at 6:30. I think Andre is too far away for Josh to get an effective deep under hook, especially with the knee shield in place.
      In order for Josh to dig that under hook, he has to kick the knee shield through and come up on his right elbow. This changes the pass for Andre, but also gives him the opportunity to darce Josh.
